The World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday it was 'carefully' monitoring a case of bubonic plague in China after being notified by the authorities in Beijing.
A WHO official claimed today that the situation was being 'well managed' by China and not considered to represent a high risk.
A herdsman in China's northern Inner Mongolia region was confirmed at the weekend to have bubonic plague, known as the 'Black Death' in the Middle Ages.(Snip) The news comes after the WHO also publicly praised China for what it called a speedy response to the new coronavirus throughout January.

Not to worry. It will get here as a big October Surprise just in time for the November election. Nothing will be held back to defeat Trump.

So far the covid-19, the new swine flu they are not sure about (whether it is transmitted to humans) and now the bubonic plague.
Something very strange is going on in China. Rats spread the plague. I doubt that they have more rats than ever.

When taking my dog overseas, it had to stay in quarantine for a prescribed amount of time to ensure it was free from disease.
We must quarantine all Chinese that are permitted to enter the U.S. The fewer permitted to enter, the better! Same goes for other affected countries.

The good news is that B. pestis is a bacteria, so antibiotics will work on it, if you get treated quickly after infection. Primary infection route is via fleas which have been feeding on infected rodents. The disease is in the USA, not uncommon in prairie dogs. In the country where I was working on a project associated with this disease some years ago, the wild disease reservoir was in voles and mice. That was in south central Asia, so could be similar to what is in China.
Not a big deal, typically. But if you have a lot of rodents in your homes, like medieval parts of China, it could be more of an issue.

The media will have a new darling to talk about, and panic everyone.
Oh no! It will kill 50 billion people (never mind that the world only has 7.8 billion)! Everyone must quarantine for the next 17 years. Quick! STOCK UP ON TOILET PAPER! Don't go within a mile of another person. Always wear a face mask. Even in your sleep!

Pestilence; all we need now is famine too. Would WHO praise the USA if we handled coronavirus the way China did, by arresting and detaining people, and hiding vital information on their special virus from the rest of the world? What crooks they are.
