The MLB’s Cleveland Indians are looking to change their name following a similar controversy with the NFL’s Washington Redskins.
“We are committed to making a positive impact in our community and embrace our responsibility to advance social justice and equality,” the team said in a statement posted to Twitter. “Our organization fully recognizes our team name is among the most visible ways in which we connect with the community.
“We have had ongoing discussions organizationally on these issues. The recent unrest in our community and our country has only underscored the need for us to keep improving as an organization on issues of social justice,” the statement continued. “With that in mind,

Now the "I" word is as bad as the "N" word it would seem. Is it that Native Americans now think the word Indian is something bad. I don't think so. When the Left decided that a human being should be born, live his or her entire life, and die without ever being insulted, shamed, made to feel bad, hear a disturbing word, be excluded or disadvantaged...our country stepped onto the slippery slope descending to hell. Terrible parenting, terrible schooling, and the insistence that the last-place-team-gets-a-trophy-too has taught a sizeable number of Americans to hate their country and wallow in the wonders of victimhood.

First, sports team names are, or were, given to honor the fighting spirit of those whose names are used. So this is not derogatory.
Secondly, Major Leagues have pushed me to the point where they can call themselves whatever they want, I will not be watching or supporting them.

Why not just call themselves the 'Cleveland Team'? Oh wait! That's exclusionary. It implies that some are entitled and good enough to put on a uniform and play in the games, while most are not. That's elitist!

The term "Baseball" is highly offensive. It is deliberately intended to appeal to our "base" instincts, including our animal desire to dominate, if not to kill and devour, our adversities. "Base is also territorial, demanding supremacy over a specified area, the very definition of colonialism and the quitessential driver of racism
"Ball" is just appalling sexist. It refers to the anatomic source of all things bad about the cis-gendered faux "male" archetype, steeped in testosterone, strutting "his" pseudo-dominance uber alley. Nazi's have balls. Fascists have balls. Civilized people do not.
Baseball must be banned in its entirety, including all statues to its purported heroes, the conversion of all all its stadia into autonomous zones, and the destruction all videos, films, books and cards drawing attention to this deviant and dangerous "sport".

How is it making a positive impact in a community to cower and knuckle under to radical nutjobs who insist on tearing down statues and changing the names of schools and streets that are named for historical persons. The perpetually offended minority of citizens who's crazed hate for anything American over rides the sensibilities of the majority of Americans?
It seems in order to get attention we can no longer be the silent majority, we must riot and burn and loot.
Otherwise we must cater to fanaticism and racial hatred.

Why not just go ahead and disband the team? Your conservative fan base is running away and I don’t expect that too many millennial left wing Antifa types are into football.

Why should they change the name? Would a team name itself the Washington Pansies or the Cleveland Wussies or the Atlanta Snowflakes? No, they name themselves after fighters, warriors, etc. Redskins, Braves and Indians honor Native Americans for the fighters they were.

For the most part this is not coming from Native Americans but rather suburban white women and pajama boys living in their mothers basement. As for the team owners. All I can say is grow a pair!

Back to basics teaching fun gun safety and responsibility and the Historical lessons that go with it. Back to basics and to HELL with the rest...do you follow me yet?

The Cleveland team changed its name in 1915 from "Spiders" to "Indians" to honor the memory of Louis Sockalexis - - a very gifted and very alcoholic athlete who had played for them in the late 19th century - - but who had recently died from complications caused by his alcoholism.
Never has a major league franchise honored someone whose career was so brief and so unremarkable - - and whose life was a series of self-inflicted tragedies. But - - that's where the name "Indians" came from.

While I oppose letting yourself be bullied by P.C. and the MOB, as a whole, the Indians were losers. Depicted as noble by Hollywood, they were rather backward compared to the reflexively vilified Europeans .The Indians owned slaves, they tortured, scalped and dismembered their enemies who were members of other tribes. This was going on for centuries before the evil white man showed up. They never had a written language, No concept of the wheel. No inventions or discoveries that furthered civilization. Naming a team after the Indian is an honor , not a denigration.

No sense in honoring brave warriors by naming teams after them. Better to ignore them. Never talk of their bravery. Never even mention them. Then perhaps in another century no one will even know they ever existed.
That is apparently the goal of the left. The only warriors they consider worth honoring are those that are obsequious to the government.

I didn't mean it as obscene - therefore, Lucianne owes me an apology.

Ten paragraphs of liberal weenie words to explain why the team is giving in to the mob and political correctness. Go ahead, change your name to the "Disappearing Wimps" which is the most appropriate label I can think of. People may be offended by "Wimps" but what the heck, they are wimps after all.

Cleveland Foreskins,
Seems to have more pricks from top leadership to the lowest linebacker.
