With protesters descending on the Hamptons this summer, rich New Yorkers with second homes on the East End are looking for more protection than just their hedges.
Wealthy Hamptonites are rushing to hire security guards to keep them safe from the threat of unrest, The Post has learned.
Charlie McArdle, co-founder of CM Security Consulting, says business is booming in the moneyed enclave, and that he’s gotten a flood of calls after Thursday’s protests, which targeted the Hamptons homes of figures such as Mayor Mike Bloomberg, real estate mogul Stephen Ross and Blackstone CEO Steven Schwarzman.

They wouldn't be (gasp) armed security, would they?

Gee, you'd think the Swells would be so excited for the Summer of Love to hit their shores. Open up those gates and invite your brethren in to practice chants, paint posters, pee on your manicured gardens, and educate you about your white privilege!

Maybe they should buy a gun and learn how to shoot to kill. Surely, there is a shooting center or two in the Hamptons where they can practice and get their concealed carry permit? And don't call me Shirley.

They just "peaceful" voices of concern, no worries (right?). So who needs security guards when the police are not necessary. HA!

Well, I guess the laid-off cops should be able to get jobs working in the Hamptons for the Swells.

It all looks different when the guys with the gasoline, matches, paint, sledge hammers, axes, ropes and other implements are looking at you and your property and thinking "this just isn't fair". Communism is not a good thing. Don't call 911. Remember this is the "summer of love".

I betting all of those swells that have such humanitarian feelings will exhort their guards not to use guns to deter these peaceful protesters, during this 'Summer of Love!' After all, they are constantly tell we
not-so-swells, that there is nothing in this world worth killing someone over. After all, it's just 'stuff!'

If a security guard shoots and kills a black peaceful protester will they and their employer get the villification that the police have received?

Oh my ! ..not our beautiful Hamptons ..we are so progressive , so down for the cause , so woke ! Why just yesterday Stuart's company donated 100.000.00 to the cause , and my bridge club thinks it is just awful the way those poor people have been treated . Our gardener is reluctant to come on his scheduled days and Marisol our Honduran maid is frightened to leave the house !

What, no police, but untrained, unskilled armed security guards? At the range I frequent, the scariest folks on the range are always the security guards struggling to qualify, try and fail and try and fail, again and again. VERY poorly trained folks in many cases. Not even remotely like police training.

True story.
i went to a national conference in chicago, April, 1975, at the Palmer House.
When I walked up to the registration table, I was handed a pamphlet which offered personal protection provided by off duty Chicago police officers.
The message was clear. Chicago was unsafe without the protection of armed off duty officers.
The security discussed in this article is most likely provided by off duty police officers, or laid off police officers.

No, no, no. That's not right. These people should be inviting them to share their estates because of the horrible lives they lived because of the estate owners' white privilege. There's something fundamentally wrong with this!
