Columbus, Ohio—A Christopher Columbus statue outside Columbus’ City Hall was removed early Wednesday morning. The statue will be placed in storage, according to a press release from Mayor Andrew Ginther’s office, according to our sister station, NBC 4. “For many people in our community, the statue represents patriarchy, oppression and divisiveness. That does not represent our great city, and we will no longer live in the shadow of our ugly past,” said Mayor Ginther. “Now is the right time to replace this statue with artwork that demonstrates our enduring fight to end racism and celebrate the themes of diversity and inclusion.”

“Now is the right time to replace this statue with artwork that demonstrates our enduring fight to end racism and celebrate the themes of diversity and inclusion.” It's not just art. The Dems have been pushing bills for years to mandate diversity in Boards of Directors. Another thing to look forward to if they win.

Amerigo Vespucci awaits his fate since his maps helped the slavers navigate to the new world.
What shall we rename the Americas? Since Lennon's Imagine is suggested as the new anthem perhaps "Theresnoheaven" should be considered.

“For many people in our community, the statue represents patriarchy, oppression and divisiveness." For the other 95% of the population Columbus represents the founding of the New World where the greatest country in the history of the world was created. Mayor Ginther is another ignorant, supercilious, historically illiterate mini-tyrant.

Shall we erect a statue to Leif Erickson? At least the Vikings enslaved white people and inflicted other various unpleasantness including the Christian Church among their victims. Perhaps they were ahead of their time, down with the struggle against the English for what they were about to inflict on Africans in a few hundred years.

There will never be any statues of Mayor Ginther, or streets named after him either. I don't think Mayor Ginther knows what values Christopher Columbus represents, and could not pass a 5th grader 10 question test on Christopher Columbus.

Rename the city after a great African explorer......Oh, wait....there aren't any. How about one of the many Native Americans who crossed an ocean and discovered a continent.....Gee, I don't think I know of any Indian built "ships" bigger than a birchbark canoe. I'm not sure how many birchbark canoes have crossed major oceans.
/s off
Sad. Columbus was a great explorer, and it is insane to imagine him as a bad guy somehow.

Let's start putting up statues of Joe Biden. Put them all across the country in liberal neighborhoods.
What do you think will happen to them?

how did we wind up with so many cowardly, wimpy mayors and mayorettes??
Mayors, in the olden days, were strong, tough, no nonsense people.
Now they are silliness and smiles

Of course every name can be determined to offend someone. Every PC politician needs to be exposed and ridiculed, and replaced from cemetery board to Congress. Racially oriented jokes need to return because we need to laugh at and with each other once again. Democrats have become joyless scolds from top to bottom, with the bottom madly enjoying the looting and firebombing that the scolds are encouraging. If blacks can call each other the n word, then so should everyone. The old adage "sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never harm you," was simply an invitation to grow up and be confident, not to become an automatic victim. And for those that didn't figure that out, well, they just weren't as perfect as I became.

In this political climate, I would pay folding money for a mayor like Fiorello La Guardia. He was multi-ethnic, completely incorruptible, and one of the truly courageous characters in American municipal government. During his last days in office, they found him working nights handwriting answers to New York residents' letters. After decades of corrupt Tammany Hall Democrat mayors, La Guardia left office and died shortly after in modest financial circumstances.
