A fishing trip turned into a wildlife rescue mission for a family in Bloomer, Wisconsin, on Saturday evening. Just before sunset, Brian Hurt, his wife Tricia, and their son Brady were coming back to the landing on Marshmiller Lake when they spotted something in the water, according to KARE. “We thought it was a black lab in the water and had a jug on its head. Then as we got closer my wife is like, ‘No, that looks like a bear,'” Brian recalled. For several days, the family had heard about sightings of a bear with a jar on its head and realized it was their chance

Good for them and the bear. In some Nazi-run states like my own, that rescue would have been considered a crime.

"Thanks to their efforts, the animal was able to breathe easier and the Hurt family later reported it made it safely back to shore." Let's not worry about the whole eating and drinking thing. What these folks did is great. Otherwise, this bear was doomed.

It took me awhile to get this little gem from the comments section: “ We had a problem with bears at our place about 30 miles from there. My wife put up a mini goal post in the front garden and the bears never came within 50 yards of it again.”

Now let's see if the game wardens give the rescuers a citation and fine for 'interfering with wildlife.' Last winter, in Pennsylvania, a deer fell through the ice. A man helped rescue the deer, saw that it was suffering from hypothermia, took the deer home, placed it in his garage overnight, and was issued a citation and fine for 'interfering with wildlife' or some such charge. He saved the deer's life, by the way.

#7 - I hated living in Pennsylvania back in the mid 1990s. First time I reported a deer carcass as traffic obstruction, the dispatcher asked if it was a buck and number of points. I said no and no one removed the carcass. And I recall seeing one night along the interstate, two cars (one being a state police vehicle) pulled over with one man wielding a chainsaw to cut off the head of the deer carcass while the state trooper observed.

Very cool. Good job people, well done. It probably helped to have the fur wet, make it easier to pull it off. I am really surprised that the bear could breath well enough to be doing the exertion of swimming, that's amazing. He's probably a whole lot happier now.

Former Oakland Raiders Super Bowl champion safety Burgess Owens won the Utah Fourth Congressional GOP primary on Tuesday night and will now face off against Rep. Ben McAdams (D-UT). Owens decisively won the Fourth Congressional District’s primary by roughly 20 points. Owens’ victory means he will now face off against freshman swing district Democrat McAdams in the general election. McAdams unseated former Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) during the 2018 midterm elections. The Cook Political Report rates the race as a “lean Democrat,” but Owens’ potential victory over McAdams could help the GOP retake the House majority. Republicans need to gain a net 17 seats during the 2020 elections to regain the House majority.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s unsteady demeanor at his first press conference in nearly three months on Tuesday reinforced the idea that he is not going to be in charge of his own administration if he is elected president in November. The Biden administration will be run behind the scenes by a mixture of old establishment hands and young radicals. In effect, it will pursue the policies of Bernie Sanders, with the personnel of Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton. It will be a regency, not a presidency — or, perhaps more accurately, a government by a central committee, or a politburo.

Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito may be eyeing retirement. The "stronger rumor" is that Alito is "going to quit," conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt told Washington Post reporter Robert Costa on his show Wednesday. He mentioned this in response to Costa's report that said aides to President Trump believe Clarence Thomas, a conservative justice appointed by President George H.W. Bush, is the justice most likely to retire this year. "Justice Thomas will never quit," Hewitt added. Hewitt suggested he learned this rumor when "people begin working the refs" this time of year.

Never Trump GOP operative Rick Wilson believes President Trump is guilty of treason. During Tuesday's New Abnormal podcast by the Daily Beast, Wilson told editor-at-large and left-wing commentator Molly Jong-Fast that people will "piss" on the president's grave forever after reports emerged that Russia paid bounties to Taliban-connected militants to kill U.S. soldiers. "The word traitor and the word treason in this country gets abused like crazy," he began. "It's true. But sometimes by you," Jong-Fast interjected. "But in this case, it's not an abuse of the word. He met the literal definition of treason. He gave aid and comfort to the enemy and abetted the enemy. He did not take action," Wilson said.
