We are seeing jurisdictions everywhere imposing mask bans at a rate that approaches the number of bars being threatened with liquor license revocation for failing to enforce social distancing. (snip) Even accepting the uncertain premise that masks are useful, "incorrect use and disposal may actually increase the risk of pathogen transmission, rather than reduce it, especially when masks are used by non-professionals such as the lay public." Given that most "masks" are simply kept handy for use when required, set aside, and then re-used, most mask-wearing by the public is likely to increase virus exposure, not reduce it.

I have to LOL when I see a group of Dims on TV all wearing masks. They look like the bandits they are.

If these masks actually do what they claim for the wearer, they should be sanitized or thrown away at the end of every day. I've been considering having one tattooed on my face.

Re-breathing your own CO2 inside a mask reduces the blood's O2 content, which adversely affects a person's physiology. The N95 is better, but requires some amount of force to expel, and over time becomes annoying. Surgical Masks are not supposed to be worn 8 or more hours a day, and most Surgeons would agree.

They are useless at best, and possibly dangerous for some.
Not to mention stupid.
I saw a meme that said trying to stop WuFlu with a cloth mask
is like trying to stop mosquitoes with a chain link fence.

I think that I’ll print this out and carry it around with me, just in case some Karen starts harassing me.

Hmm, doesn't seem to play. But it's all about how masks reduce O2 level, and have caused some very bad outcomes. Very knowledgeable woman presented it.

OP, I chuckled at the "&" in your list of authors for this article. The "MD" doesn't represent a second author's initials, it represents the fact he's a doctor (of medicine). Carry on.
Great article. Confirms why I refuse to wear a mask outdoors and will only wear one indoors if it's required for entry (like at a grocery store). So many Karens, so little intelligence.

I wear a food industry style beard cover. It is meant to stop hair, nothing else. Nobody cares. A good side effect is the facial recognition cameras everywhere are having a harder time tracking everyone. I was waiting for a socially acceptable way to walk around with my face obscured.

The best analogy I've heard, from a medical professional:
"They're about as effective as a chain-link fence would be as a barrier against mosquitoes."

Masks have just become an article of virtue signaling. Much like democrats who protest that they just love black people, and kiss black people's feet!

Texas Democrat run cities have instituted mandatory masks to enter stores. This has caused fights at store entrances and within the stores, as some wear them, and some people don't like being told what to do. Same thing from the social distancing, as arguments breaking out everywhere. It's not a pleasant shopping experience, and many people will stay home, and not shop. The stores have spent billions to get customers to come into their stores. Now many people would rather spare themselves the misery.

Most people in my part of town have a mask around their neck, their wrist or in a pocket. When entering a business or office building the mask goes on and is removed the moment they exit. It's all part of a ridiculous game that won't end until after the election.

It's mandated virtue signalling...that's all it is. Don't think facts and sense make any difference when politicians need to "do something."

I figured this out early on, have not worn one at all except when visiting a friend who is on chemotherapy. We sat outside, and I faced sideways to him when we were eating, about 6 ft away, to minimize my breath reaching him. When not eating, I wore a real hospital mask that he provided.
Otherwise - no mask for me. I tried to make an appointment for a hair cut, badly needed, but they wanted me to wear a mask, so I cancelled.
I'm not going to do stupid, pointless things just because they are 'popular'. They are still pointless, and they make the statement "I'm a dummy who thinks this mask helps".

They are super effective. At getting most people to believe and do anything the TV and 'lawmakers' without masks on TV, tell them to do.

Whether you wear a masks or not there still is a possibility you will get the virus. So why not breathe and enjoy life while you can.
