It is hard to have a rational discussion when a person rejects the notion of looking at facts. Those who rely solely on feelings insist on denying facts, data, and science. They trust intuition and feelings, not reality. That’s why the saying, “My facts don’t care about your feeling,” has gained traction.
Attorney General William Barr committed the ultimate heresy in the eyes of Leftists when he cited data. He recently noted that there has been a consistent reduction in the number of deaths of Blacks by police. Five years ago, the total number was 38, last year, 10.

We are not permitted to notice, and certainly it is absolutely unacceptable to publicly point out that:
-- 8,000 black people were killed last year.
-- 10 black people were killed by police
-- 6 of those killed by police were attacking the police
So, perhaps there are four cases that need to be examined more closely....out of 8,000.
And the number of black people killed by police was 38 just five years ago (under a half black president). Reducing black deaths by police by about 75% under Trump just isn't good enough, clearly.
The title is excellent. Facts are stubborn things. Keep these few facts handy, and they can be used to shut down someone yelling about how horrible the police are to blacks. And you can bet that the overwhelming majority of those 8,000 killings were at the hands of other blacks, probably about 80% or 90%. Those black lives don't seem to matter.

It never fails when talking to someone, politely, not angrily or with an air of superiority, showing them the 'facts' they always reply...'Yeah but'. So that's what I call them. The yeah but-ters.

FTA: One leader of the police in Chicago called to keep violent offenders in jail longer. That’s not likely to happen as we have seen cities empty their jails during the virus outbreak--- I guess it's better that they let killers and rapist free to do their thing than to have them catch the virus.

Many more people were killed by police last year than 38 5e years ago and 10 last year. Presumably he is speaking of unarmed people. To writeso inaccurately is rediculous and certainly not facts as he has written it.

Clarification:
The 10 figure is unarmed blacks killed by police.
But do not permit them to sell the falsehood that "unarmed" means "not dangerous". Annually, about 650 to 700 people are killed with "personal weapons" which is FBI statistical jargon for hands, feet, elbows, etc. i.e. UNARMED. Always remember, "unarmed" is not "harmless". And as a reference....the number killed with "personal weapons" (unarmed) is about 1.5 to 2 times the number killed by ALL rifles, not just those fearsome "assault rifles". Ban hands and feet, not semiauto rifles.
Total people killed by police per year runs around 1100 on the average, and about 120-160 officers die in the line of duty each year. Of those 1100, about 10 were unarmed black men, and six of them were attacking the police officer when killed. So, we have about one tenth of one percent unarmed black men killed, and 4 of 1100 that were not attacking the police.....that is about a tiny 0.04 of one percent of all killed. Trying to get that smaller is a nice goal, but with humans and violent interpersonal conflicts....getting things better than that isn't going to be very likely, no matter how hard we try.

It is not about facts.
It is about the STORY. Remember: this is an illiterate culture, unacquainted with the great thinkers and great leaders of history. This is about sitting around the TV and listening to stories about how bad it is out there, and we need to change. Just listen to NPR. The way they talk, you would think 5,000 Blacks were arrested and killed every day. You would think that Obama was the greatest President in history, and Grant was just some plantation owner with thousands of slaves.
It is the STORY. And facts don't matter at all. Only the Black Lives of the Blacks who resist arrest matter. And they only count if they get dead.

I believe it was DP Moynihan (D MA) who coined the phrase
"The soft bigotry of low expectations". We have known the root cause for 2 generations but a certain political party needs to sustain it in order to maintain the anger that keeps them viable.

The gift to western civilization of the grant of universal right to vote for women in one fells swoop, which had taken hundreds of years of struggle and the shedding of blood for men to achieve gradually. By giving women an immediate and sudden majority say in the running of national affairs, it has been going backward and becoming more disintegrated ever since. For the sake of gaining the female vote, in the public debate arena regardless of the issue and the field of political and social policy development, the female "virtues" of emotion, feelings and rejection of the facts on the ground, including those of history and science have replaced the robust male strengths of reason, logic, intellectual rigor and dispassion and the facts on the ground including the accumulated human wisdom gathered over the millennia of the human lived experience.
