It’s an old story: fighting the next war with the last war’s battle plan, as if prior success guarantees future victory. So here was President Trump after the Supreme Court gave him another thumping on Thursday, vowing to release “a new list of Conservative Supreme Court Justice nominees” in September — i.e., around the back stretch galloping toward the Election Day finish line.
The president reasons: “Based on decisions being rendered now, this list is more important than ever before (Second Amendment, Right to Life, Religious Liberty, etc.).” (Snip)
If you needed a laugh to get you through just-another-day-at-the-Apocalypse, our “Conservative” president then proceeded to post no fewer

Politics is such a liars guild that Trump's transparency and candor is a great threat.

Better headline: Trump trusts the GOP’s judicial recommendations; big mistake.

Andy McCarthy, Charlie McCarthy, same difference. NR is cranking up the Never Trump machine and will shortly endorse Dementia Joe, oh so reluctantly of course.

I started to read the article but changed my mind. I haven't changed my mind about NRO.

Trump is the only warrior in the Republican Party, the only one that has stood up and done anything. The rest of the Republicans could have helped, but they show up only after the battle is won.

Oh Andy, conservative judges is what attracts us to Trump. And the recent SLOTUS (Supreme Legislators of the United States) recent decisions just proves to us that two isn't even close to enough.

I guess I'm alone, but McCarthy is absolutely right; e.g., if Trump thinks he can get more votes by disinterring flag-burning legislation, he's really out of touch. He sqeaked through in 2016 because the Dems stayed home. Terry McAuliffe is right in arguing that the corpse should stay in his basement, if by doing so he can stay comfortably ahead in the polls.

Yeah, Andy, so you're gonna vote for Creepy Uncle Joe and his Marxist handlers, because Trump isn't a "true conservative", right?

Okay, Andrew. You want us to vote for Susan Rice or Kamala Harris, because whatever black woman Biden chooses to add to his ticket would be the President---or someone worse--- inside of a year.
Go suck an egg, McCarthy

I really DON'T know what McCarthy is taking today...drugs or maybe Red Bull...but to think Biden who has the momentum of a sloth is some how or another going to change into Ronald Reagan and beat Trump is...what is the phrase...yep...BS...Trump will have an enthusiastic base, an opponent worse than Clinton, a forgotten pandemic, a Democrat Party wedded to terrorism, and a resurging economy...MAGA

How many people here actually read the article? McCarthy is not playing anti-Trumper here. He engages in the usual fretting that PDT is not a deep philosophical conservative, but makes no attempt to try to convince us to abandon the president. McC admonishes GOPer's to get tougher in vetting federal court nominees, not an unreasonable position. And he doubts that the issue of judicial nominees will have the potency this time around that it did in 2016. Again, probably true.
But his argument that the president appears to be fighting the last war is weak. PDT has a treasure trove of stuff to run on (and against) that was not plausibly on the table in 2016, and he is just getting started. The man's stamina and energy are prodigious.
IMO Andrew McCarthy has a pattern: assault the reader with a mountain of legal-shmeagle which is critically important to him but doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the actual combat. This column is not as eye-glazing as most of his product but it is in the same mold.

Not every criticism of President Trump emanates from a Never-Trumper that is leaning towards a progressive transformation. Not even Ronald Reagan, the ultimate standard bearer of conservative ideology, was above being criticized by other conservatives, although Reagan had a much longer, well-defined conservative back trail. McCarthy has a rather lengthy conservative back trail in his writings and he's obviously concerned about the apparent lack of fiscal conservatism displayed by the current administration. That doesn't mean he's going to jump over to support Biden and start wearing a Mao jacket. Years ago, I sometimes got McCarthy's writings mixed up with those of VDH but there has been more separation between them in recent years in that McCarthy sounds more "establishment" than he does fiscal or political conservative. My biggest problem with the president is that I want him to win re-election so badly, I get frustrated with some of his actions/inactions that I believe jeopardize his prospects. I'll take an impure conservative over a pure communist every time.

Only the Shadow knows what evil lurks in the hearts of Men. And when one is given a lifetime job, neither a President nor the Shadow know what a good guy or scoundrel he will turn out to be.

Andy, your TDS is rotting your brain. You are so clueless since you jumped the shark. You have a couple of pathetic little gigs, while Trump not only built a huge empire with his own raw energy, but he won the WH first time out by being something called an honest man. We will always root for and support our President, simply because WE chose him. You did not.

Tedious article. To sum up, Andy can read minds, PT is no conservative and the Supreme Court is a legislative body, and Andy is giving PT political advice.
I can't seem to ignore that Cardinal Comey had no more insistent defender than Andy McCarthy. If you questioned the Cardinal's integrity you were lower than whale poop.
