The nationally recognized liberal arts institution Hillsdale College has a history of defying political pressure in order to uphold what is good and true. Its recent refusal to give in to the demands of those who think a public statement is necessary to fight social injustice is just the most recent example.
Some of the college’s alumni publicly pushed their alma mater to comment on the recent controversies regarding the death of George Floyd and the ensuing protests and riots. When a petition began circulating calling on the college to release a statement, arguing that its “silence” supported violence, the college responded in an open letter.
“The College is pressed to speak.

After months of avoiding donations to Hillsdale College, I'm now persuaded to arrange a monthly auto-payment. I hope they keep fighting academically for the youth and the survival of this great nation.

FTA: This meant the loss of all federal funding to its students as well as the institution.
I don't think Hillsdale has ever accepted federal funding for tuition or otherwise. If I recall, the feds sued Hillsdale for that but couldn't force the college to take federal funding.

Since the article doesn’t link to the letter, here it is. http://hillsdalecollegian.com/2020/06/on-the-college-and-silence-a-letter-from-hillsdale-college/
I am so happy that we sent our daughter to Hillsdale. She received an exceptional education in a setting I could trust. The president, Larry Arnn, is a gem, a truly remarkable man. I’m sending an extra donation in gratitude for this letter.

Hillsdale is the real deal and should serve as an example for other schools but they stand alone in their goals and convictions. Dr. Larry Arnn holds it all together and I fear that they will cave in to both the government and progressive doctrine when he steps down.
As for those organizations who are pandering to mob culture and violence, their little messages of encouragement to the anarchists will come back to bite them. Voting with our dollars and our feet has proven very effective against the MSM, the NFL and others who have lost their way and their common sense.

Yep, I've been donating for a while now. I wish I had more time for their free courses. I can barely read the publication I get in the mail from them. Must make more time for them and my Lord.

This is the reason I donate a certain amount to Hillsdale every month and add a $100 - $150 every so often. I do not donate to the universities I receive my undergraduate and graduate degrees because they both have lost sight of what their education responsibilities are supposed to be towards their students. Education has become indoctrination. Sadly, Hillsdale College seems to be one of the only institutions of higher learning that has stayed true to its founding principles.

I always had a lot of respect for Hillsdale. I need to sign up again to get their Imprimis newsletter. After I moved, I stopped getting it. I wish I could afford to donate to them. I wouldn't send money to my undergrad or grad alma maters though.

I’ve never donated to Hillsdale but that will change in a few seconds after I finish this post.

FTA: Hillsdale was founded by abolitionists in 1844 and has, since its inception, pledged to educate all students, “irrespective of nation, color, or sex.” Such strong anti-discrimination practices were viewed as fiercely radical at the time, and made Hillsdale among the first in the nation to grant education to black Americans and the second in the nation to provide four-year liberal arts degrees to women.
But of course, it ISN'T about facts. Decide what it *is* about.

Whereas Chic Fil A, who I already don't like because of how they treated the Samaritans, is now donating major major $ to Black causes, some of them highly dubious. Popeyes for me---their chicken sandwiches are actually better---have determined that Chic is just a Virtue Signaling whiz and simply closing on Sundays does NOT let them off the hook.

'Its recent refusal to give in to the demands of those who think a public statement is necessary to fight social injustice'...
No one has ever to my satisfaction expained what 'social justice' is. As far as I'm concerned, justice is justice... but 'social justice' is just code for 'I want someone else's stuff.'
