Fauci falls, fumbles forbidding football

It’s been a long way down for Anthony Fauci, MD – from virtual dictator of a nation under virtual house arrest (and purported sex symbol) to laughingstock caught lying and blaming the public for his fall. Fauci finally fessed up to his face mask fabulations. He lied to us for our own good, of course. (snip) Now, Fauci is complaining that ignorant Americans “don’t believe science and they don’t believe authority.” (snip) As a result, his announcement that “football may not happen” is meeting outright defiance from the NFL

For the first and last time I will say good for the NFL. Dr. Fauci has shown his totalitarian side. He's like Nurse Ratched with more power and I say I am done with him and done with most experts. They have shown me that they care nothing for my health and safety and all they want is power.

All Bull Shtuff from beginning to one hopes will be an ignominious end for these sanctimonious jackasses. These past three years have gone far beyond the "credibility gap" of LBJ's worst Vietnam days. We are being lied to, manipulated, and bullied by the people and institutions we in which we should have most trust. Science is bought and sold, cheap prostitutes who can manipulate data and models to say whatever the grant says. Government far overreached its legitimate authority, and "the people" went along like sheep. We have examples of where science-based state confinement policies killed our most vulnerable citizens. And this can go on and on... TIme to take Nancy Reagan's sound advice: Just say no!

Everything Fauci has said has subsequently proven false to fact. Despite constantly changing his story, he still managed to be wrong at every point of this fiasco. If you laid out a time line of Fauci's statements, you would find a series of contradictory self-aggrandizing errors. Fauci and the rest of the so-called "health professionals" who propagated this hysteria are directly and personally responsible for the single biggest mistake human beings have ever made. They shouldn't just be discredited and driven from public life forever; they should be pilloried. The damage this idiot has done is incalculable and an unholy reckoning against these phony experts is sorely needed.

Fauci should move to L.A. where he can have lunch with Brad (and plan his life-story movie) and be among those who admire and worship him and hang onto his every utterance. If he thought there would be a shortage of masks for healthcare workers in the beginning - and didn't encourage them for the masses - he could have easily shown/taught/demonstrated how masks could be easily made at home with everyday supplies. He's delighted to be enormously famous now and would be more than happy to be overseeing 'our' every move. No, Tony; thank you - but no!

It didn’t just start. The good doctor told us 35 years ago that AIDS was going to become a heterosexual disease. We all needed to practice safe sex. Based on the number of accidental pregnancies I would say that wasn’t followed. I’d also say AIDS isn’t a major concern for heterosexuals.

What we don't believe in charlatans trying to pass off fake science to fit a political narrative. We don't believe fake science that has been shown to be incorrect many times before- like all the doom and gloom predictions about the environment. We do believe in legitimate authority, like police and other honest people in authority. We don't believe dishonest bureaucrats or politicians. The job title doesn't mean honesty!

I enjoyed a good (much needed) laugh just reading the title. Lifson is always worth reading, for content and for style! I also used to enjoy watching President Trump's covid updates every day during the initial "Fourteen Days to Slow the Spread" phase. Wash your hands; don't touch your face. Remember Fauci, arms folded across his chest, looking a wee bit too bemused? One day, i guess trying to obscure his scorn, his hand went from tucked under his armpit, to his chin, to the index finger sliding upward to his cheek. Yup. We're being played. I think even Birks began manifesting some doubt, several weeks later, however, as she analyzed the "data". Someone told her, Don't look too pleased with the huge improvement, Doc. The big urban centers should have been a focus. The medical specialists could also then have been ready to target specific areas or businesses (like meat packing plants). Above all, the nursing and long-term care facilities ought to have been the most crucial foci. And it was known from the beginning that the sick and elderly were the most vulnerable. So who is going to investigate these epidemiologists, AND AND AND politicians some of whom are still stepping on the throats of small companies, big and small, before more damage is done? Fauci cried, Wolf! and lost all credibility with rational citizens.

I don't believe faux science, and faux authority. Or is that fauci authority? I have no doubt that a lot of what he has said has a good basis in fact. BUT, a lot of what he has said presumes that this is the bubonic plague, with a 35% death rate. The reality is that 99.5 to 99.7% of people will not die from it. And better yet, if you are not morbidly obese, not a diabetic, do not have damaged lungs and have a normal immune system, your odds of surviving it are much higher, probably 99.99%. And something like 50-60% of people will not even know that they had it. In our county, 600,000 people, probably fairly representative of places without subways and other ultra risky environments. 0-9 years Zero deaths 10-19 years Zero deaths 20-29 Zero deaths 30-39 Zero deaths 40-49 2 deaths 50-59 Zero deaths 60-69 4 deaths 70-79 10 deaths 80+ 61 deaths in long term care facilities: 38 deaths Half of all deaths in nursing homes. 80% of all deaths over age 80. This is a reason to protect our elderly, and especially our people in nursing homes with extraordinary care, maximum efforts for them. Special training for nursing home staff, extra PPE for them, extra measures all around. And leave the rest of us ALONE.

Conservatives are happily gloating over the fact that Andrew Cuomo is at, or rapidly approaching, his nadir. (snip) Cuomo's pandering has always been coarse, heavy-handed, and insincere. Though he is hardly a closet conservative, and probably genuinely supports these policies, it has always been obvious that Cuomo manipulated leftist identity groups so that they would have no alternative but to vote for him and make him governor-for-life. (Indeed, until only a few weeks ago, Cuomo seemed to be a shoo-in for a fourth term). Eventually, though, it became clear that the leftist identity-politics groups were getting tired of getting the pimp hand from Cuomo

Meghan Markle, it seems, isn't much of a scholar. While much of the focus has been on her barbs accusing the British royal family of abnormal interest in her baby's skin color and denying him a title and personal security protection supposedly because he is black and they are racists, what's striking to me is how unprepared she was for the royal role she sought when she married Prince Harry. Though the populist tide seems to have ebbed, it will rise again, and soon. The problem that ignited populist sentiment in the first place, whether on the left or the right, remains: the country’s economic and financial system has failed much of the population and is rigged to the benefit of a government-business elite. Resistance to this inequity elevated Trump and pulled the Democratic Party to the left and will continue to roil American politics until things change. The economy’s “rigging” has developed gradually over time and often from the best of intentions.

No, conference goers didn't gather to spread conspiracy theories. No, they didn't bow down to a golden statue of Trump. And no, the stage wasn't designed to pay homage to Nazi symbology. Fascism, a form of big government, is hated among conservatives. Outsiders in the mainstream media really piled on the hate. "There will be no policy debates," claimed an MSNBC opinion columnist. That's false. The truth, it seems, was of no value in reporting on this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
