The mother of Ahmaud Arbery reportedly described President Donald Trump as “very receiving” and “very compassionate” during their White House meeting on Tuesday. Wanda Cooper-Jones was one of several invited to meet with Trump before he signed an executive order dealing with the issue. Other attendees included “relatives of Botham Jean, a Texas man shot in his home by a police officer who lived in the same building; Atatiana Jefferson, killed after police were called to her home; and Antwon Rose, a teenager killed by a Pittsburgh police officer,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Supreme Court rules for 'Dreamers,'

In a striking rebuke to President Trump, the Supreme Court Thursday rejected his plan to repeal the popular Obama-era order that protected so-called Dreamers, the nearly 800,000 young immigrants who were brought to this country illegally as children. Led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., the court called the decision to cancel the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, as arbitrary and not justified. The program allows these young people to register with the government, and if they have clean records, to obtain a work permit. At least 27,000 of these DACA recipients are employed as healthcare workers.

The Capital Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), is now being rebranded as the Capital Hill Organized Protest (CHOP), and still disgusting as ever. That's a sign of a public relations problem and the pictures are clear enough from journalist Andy Ngo: Besides unsightliness, this "block party" and "summer of love" as it was rapturously called just a few days ago, is also a haven for thugs. The takeover of a chunk of downtown Seattle — renamed the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” or CHAZ, by one group of far-left protesters, and “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest,” or CHOP, by others — has been treated as a joke in some quarters. It’s no joke. Like it or not, the extreme leftists, social justice warriors, and anarchists are the new face of America’s big, once-great cities, a tragedy in the making. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said she wants her now-abandoned precinct, taken over by Black Lives Matter protesters, to be reopened under police control. Good luck with that. Is there anything more pathetic than a leader whose charges have all simply walked away? Hard to look big and powerful when that happens. But that's the pretty picture in Hallandale Beach, where the entire SWAT team has resigned after the police chief and members of his command staff took a knee in religious obeisance to the Black Lives Matter anti-police activist group. Here's the Miami Herald's account of the embarrassment: The 10 members of the Hallandale Beach Police Department’s SWAT team have stepped down from their roles, citing among other grievances anger over the city’s police chief kneeling with protesters earlier this week,

As tragic as officer-involved shootings of anyone is, not all of them are worth burning down a Wendy's for. For radical activists and their enablers, this act is getting old fast. The latest incident, in Atlanta, wrought a huge amount of turmoil: Atlanta police units initially responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious person at Wendy's around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found a man asleep in his car, parked in the drive-thru lane and blocking customers, according to GBI. They reportedly conducted a sobriety test, but when they attempted to arrest the man, identified as 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, a struggle ensued.

It is widely known that our betters say it’s OK to protest in massive groups despite the risk of coronavirus transmission, but small gatherings not in support of Black Lives Matter are still unacceptable. Now we’re told that it’s also fine for protests to turn violent as long as it happens for the “right” reason. Imagine, though, the howling that would have pierced our ears had there been a whiff of violence started by the protesters whose only demand was to be set free of the pandemic lockdowns. With looting black-owned stores starting to become a public relations problem for leftist anti-police protesters, they've returned to their old standby: statue-toppling. As if directed by some Mighty Integral, statues of Christopher Columbus, Robert E. Cecil Rhodes apparently escaped only because the protesters didn't know who he was. The suddenness of this collective madness,

Democrats have met the enemy, and it is the police. Well, not all police. They love the heavily armed federal police at agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency. Just days after George Floyd died in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department, Democrats managed to compile a sweeping police reform bill that would, among other things, limit “qualified immunity” of police officers, lower the limits on what constitutes excessive force, create a national registry of police misconduct, bar the use of “no-knock” arrest warrants, and limit the transfer of military equipment to police departments. Meanwhile, Democrats around the country
