Have the protests proved that COVID-19
risks are being vastly exaggerated?

By now, we ought to be seeing some evidence of increasing COVID-19 cases from the mass protests. The fact we are not raises very serious doubts about the coronavirus lockdowns and other non-pharmaceutical interventions, many of which are still ongoing.
One explanatory hypothesis is the weather — that outdoor protests in warmish weather might have decreased the infectious potential of SARS-CoV-2. This seems highly unlikely. Even if there is such an effect, it almost definitely doesn’t outweigh the close proximity of protesters to one another. Another explanatory hypothesis is that most protesters are relatively young, and therefore unlikely to fall ill but may asymptomatically transmit the virus.

They are ludicrous in their thinking, as well. Stretch was calling for "testing, testing, testing..." But when a health care worker is in close contact with an asymptomatic patient who tests positive for COVID, the nurse is told to "self-monitor". True story.

We do not have an emergency and the lockdowns no longer have any legal basis. There has been zero evidence presented that masks or social distancing make a difference, except in hospitals and nursing homes. We have been lied to by people with models and political agendas, and they should be jailed and charged with the damages they have caused. We cannot have trillions of damages caused, and no liability for it. There should be some firings. The CDC should be defunded. It is no better than WHO. And a special request, please do not get your scientific advice from any more British scientists or those at the CDC.

I hold Trump blameless. He was following what he believed the best medical advice in those early days. When it became clear the threat was vastly overstated, he acted. Dems are dreaming if they think they can push it all back on the White House.

All you had to do was whiz thru the 5-hr JHU contact tracing free on-line course to learn you cannot get infected passing someone on the street, even asymptomatic ppl will only infect 1-2 others, and most the likely are those you LIVE with.
Strengthening your immune system is key; I had it for about 36 hours and slept straight thru for 14 as body heals itself...

Said it from the beginning, when I saw the media hysteria taking over: either this was a setup from the get-go OR somebody saw the panic setting in and capitalized. Either way.
I hope the guilty people pay big for this, but hey won't.

When it seemed to be less deadly than once believed they had to inject it into nursing homes to inflict the most vulnerable. When an effective treatment was stumbled upon because people being treated for malaria seemed virtually impervious to it, they had to shut that down via fraudulent studies. When the surge was flattened and hospital ships and converted convention centers proved to have been unnecessary, the goal had to shift from flattening to waiting for a "cure."
The boot on the throat of our economy under the auspice of distancing ourselves served the Biden campaign and the street violence beckoning a thirst for "change" a return to the hopey-changey Obama administration embodied in his #2 fiddle serves the same. Power is their only value.

Everyone I talk to says the same thing, that this whole virus thing is BS! The only ones still acting like it's a killer threat are public employees and some easily swayed Karens. They can stay home and get paid. 2 people at a time are allowed in the DMV, with masks and the courthouse stays closed. You state your business through the door to a masked deputy and he basically tells you they're shut down for the virus. You can't get the services you need from them, but you can pay your fees thru the mail. Always slow government actions have basically come to a standstill. The requirement to wear maks has been debunked, but not at the government level. We can't return to normal, when our 'leaders' won't let us.

I agree with all posters, but I have to say, I’m still amazed at the number of people who are still in abject, mask-wearing fear. It is 90+ degrees and humid where I live, and the number of people who are still wearing masks outside is astounding. Even when I talk to some of them and present them with the latest facts about the virus, the statistics, and the current research—AND THEY AGREE WITH ME—they still hold onto their fear. It’s the most bizarre phenomenon I’ve ever seen. I finally told someone that if they are waiting for the local newspaper, or the media, to give them the all-clear signal, it will never happen.

What we know is anyone is at risk for near death or dead if exposed to Covid. The only natural immunity is radical left protesting, looting and rioting. These activities, with good intent of course, and always peaceful protest, looting and rioting, somehow convey immunity. We know this because our all wise and sage Democrat political leaders understand the disease and can tell us what is best for us and how they will benevolently protect us from us.

If we had to stay in lockdown until a cure was available for the common cold, or any other previous Flu, we would be living as hunter-gatherers, in caves! The Wuhan Flu will be around for a long time, just like the cold and other strains of the Flu. We will live with it too. We will survive.

Looking back, I should have figured it was ALL a hoax when every business that has ever e-mailed me saw fit to send me a lengthy message about how much they wanted my continued business while yammering on and on about the care they were taking to keep me safe. I am still ticked off at my bank! They are still playing the ''make a reservation'' game to come inside the bank. Appears to me that that particular national brand bank is getting just what it wanted. Mayor John Cooper is trying to kill Nashville. Surrounding counties have gotten their sanity back. Not him!

Of course the riots are shooting down the narrative. But Fauci is sure trying to stoke the flames again, ahead of Trump's upcoming rally. I have never seen such lunacy coming from the Left as what is happening now. Supporting rioters with both hands upraised, and telling the rest of us 'no no no, you cannot go outside under any cost, it is too risky'.
Hypocrisy is being displayed and it is so ugly. If we are to take back our nation folks, we are going to have to have our own rebellion en masse. Too many of us going outside and practicing commonsense would help shoot down the tyrants and their unconstitutional stranglehold.

We seniors, who were at most risk are wise enough to have figured out that the lock down was all about the Dems wanting to hold back the economy. They were afraid of Trump's ability to turn the economy around. Also, the reason they didn't want us to use the Chlorohyroxyquinine drug. It's called control and it's evil. To a rabid liberal friend who buys in into this liberal BS, I say ... Simple, then stay home and isolate yourself. The metric to watch is the number hospitalizations not number of testing positive. We could all test positive if we were exposed to a virus that never developed. Actually testing positive probably means the body most likely now has antibodies.

If the Democrats really believed this virus is easily spread and deadly, they would be celebrating that Trump is having rallies. What a great chance to kill off thousands of Trump supporters.
