Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. announced Wednesday that former Atlanta Police Officer Garrett Rolfe faces felony charges in the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks.
According to WSBTV, Rolfe faces “11 counts including felony murder and aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, and violations to his oath of office.” Howard is recommending no bond for the officer, citing his choice not to provide medical assistance for over two minutes and for kicking Brooks on the ground after the fatal shooting.

What a circus. Rayshard Brooks was on probation for four crimes - including cruelty to children - and faced going back to prison if charged with a DUI, when he was found asleep and intoxicated at Wendy's drive-thru.

K details, I don't yet see the facts anywhere but if he actually was shot in the back twice. Yep charges are due.

Well what did you expect would happen with the Atlanta politicians trying to tamp down the further possibility of urban unrest (Black perpetrated rioting, arson, and looting) in Atlanta?

Totally political. DA Howard is running for reelection and has been charged, among other things, with sexual harassment. Just protection money to BLM. The perp stole a deadly weapon from the cops, was eluding capture, and fired at the cop charged with all this nonsense. Totally justified. The Mayor, Rock Bottom, along with the DA, should be fired and charged with violating their oaths of office. What a world we live in. When the police attempt to protect us from criminals they are the ones charged with crimes. Get all the guns and ammo you can afford. Soon the police will be defunded and you'll have to protect yourself.

It was a good, lawful shooting. If the LEO had been tased, he would have been incapacitated for at least 5 seconds, giving Brooks time to stomp the officer's head, take his handgun, shoot him with it, run off with it while he was intoxicated. LEOs are trained to never give up control of their handgun. The main thing I saw is that the officers need better training in putting someone on the ground, restraining and cuffing.

It certainly looks bad to see Rayshard killed in this incident. But piling on this many charges is a huge detriment to policing. Resisting arrest has been given a huge green light. Expect crime to skyrocket.

ATL PD? Time to retire or resign and seek employment elsewhere. Live in the ATL? Sell out NOW! Your property values will plummet soon.

Verdict first, investigation later. One expects this from a DA up for reelection. After all, Only BLM matter. Rights are not an option for those with white privilege.

The jury pool is well and truly tainted as a result of this "news conference" trial-by-media.
These so-called witnesses have never been cross examined but the officer is being railroaded by their stories.
I doubt he can get a fair trial now.

Law Enforcement died today. It's time for all officers to stand down or stand back. Give the public what they want until they beg for law enforcement to come back.

This will be overturned. Evidence will show the officers are innocent of these bogus charges.

#2 Ever seen a Western where the bad guy was riding away but shooting back (trying to kill) the Sheriff? You realize you don’t have to be facing a person to kill them with a projectile weapon, right? Police are required to escalate force when matched up to and including deadly force if necessary when appreciating, regardless of the initial crime. Their lives, the lives of others, and a civil society depends on it. He did his job and now he is a political prisoner of the Radical Leftists. Time to storm the Bastille.

I can see it now. Police resign. Law enforcement is set back to colonial times. Some idiot pulls a Rayshard and winds up just as dead.
Who is going to arrest the shooter?
Hell, who's going to protect the Dem DA when they attempt to announce charges or make an arrest?

If the reports are correct, Brooks spent one year in prison, pleading guilty to four crimes against his family members. and when he violated his parole/probation, he spent another year in prison. And if he had been charged with DUI, he would have gone back to prison.
The DA diminished Brooks bad behavior to change it to good behavior, saying Brooks was 'mildly impaired' when in fact Brooks blew 20 per cent above the legal limit of alcohol. He had passed out, drunk, in a drive thru at Wendy's.
brooks wife and children will collect millions of dollars from the taxpayers in Atlanta, even though they probably deserve nothing.
finally, he was shot in the back because he was turned at the waist as he fired the taser at the police officer's face. with the body turned, and in motion, the 'shot in the back' has a different meaning.
i doubt a black jury would convict on the murder charge, but I could be wrong.
but i would not want to be a police officer in atlanta now, especiall;y with that Da calling shots.

There is a way to remove the racial contentiousness that is currently fueling the BLM insurgency. Partner a black and non-black policemen on every patrol. The black officer should take the lead on every encounter with a black person. Never send one or more white cops into a predominantly black neighborhood. Hire and train black officers who understand the psychology of the community. Get more black people involved in their own destiny.

Brooks had been charged with cruelty to children? His children? His fancy lawyer was with his wife talking about his 3 little children will be growing up without their daddy. Another role model I guess.

Cannot be a fair trial. No justice here.
Georgia law makes the taser a lethal weapon.
It is all politics. The politics of pandering to black radicals. Too bad, Atlanta. You once had a nice city.
Now you will have a hell hole.

Travesty. When I saw those assembled for the DA’s presser/announcement, I knew the news would be very bad.
