WASHINGTON — The director of U.S.-funded Voice of America and her deputy resigned Monday following recent clashes with the Trump administration that have sparked fears for its independence. Amanda Bennett and Deputy Director Sandy Sugawara announced they were leaving the organization as Trump ally and conservative filmmaker Michael Pack takes over leadership of the agency that oversees VOA. The VOA under Bennett was seriously influenced by Chinese CCP officials and US sympathizers. When one of their producers scheduled a 3 hour interview with the well known Chinese billionaire and dissident Miles Kwoc that was highly critical of the CCP they bowed to external CCP threats and pulled the plug on the radio production in mid broadcast. The VOA should be our front line tool to get through the CCP firewall and address the Chinese people with the truth directly.
