As dozens of cities crawl from the wreckage of social media-generated rioting against supposedly pervasive white racism and police brutality, self-styled advocates for social justice are retooling a familiar campaign. They’re demanding financial reparations for slavery and its after-effects, payable from whites to blacks, in the trillions of dollars. This would promote equality, atonement and “healing.”
Don’t believe them. Calls for reparations go back many decades. The core assumption has been the same from the start: Living whites must make amends to living blacks by emptying their pockets, preferably with the federal government overseeing the transfers.

Don't buy and it will never happen. They had their reparations, it's called Affirmative action. Let's move on.

Many of my ancestors were slaves and indentured servants. Signs were all over American towns and cities that 'no dogs and MYKIND Allowed.' Never would my parents have ever entertained receiving any unearned money. It was only by the Grace of God that we were born here.

Let me think. Reparations would take money from those whose ancestors came here long after slavery, from families whose sons may have sacrificed their life in the Civil War, merely because their skin is white. And give that money to people whose ancestors may have come here long after slavery was abolished but are supposedly due reparations simply because their skin is black. It isn't laughable - it is dangerous. The riots we see now will pale in comparison when the non-black 85% of the population who will be expected to cough up this money rise up. But be honest - this is what is really wanted by the BLM/Antifa crowd and Soros to begin with.

From just a numbers cruncher point of view, 14 trillion divided evenly among the current Black population of the USA, would give each individual, roughly $350,000.
But do you honestly think ANY of that money would ever be delivered?
The money extorted out of companies across the US, today, as part of our "discussion on racism", and supposedly to be contributed to "social justice", I've heard is going straight into the Joe Biden Presidential campaign.
Note: I cannot personally confirm this.

A race based transfer of wealth has no place in a just society. Especially in a society that ended slavery on a hemispheric scale, as did the US and England in the 19th century. Yes they did.

Let's examine the facts on the ground.
Over the past ten years, what proportion of total income tax receipts and sales tax etc was paid by blacks?
Over the past ten years, what proportion of total welfare, child support, housing, free healthcare, transport, policing, prison and other programs were expended on blacks?

The slaves that came over probably had a better life than the ones that stayed behind. Look at how many of them are living now.

Half of it will go to Mister Crack Dealer, the other half will be blown on Air Jordans and bling, then they'll be right back at square one claiming to be victims of a racist society and demanding more. No.

I'm not participating in something I had nothing to do with for someone who never was a slave.
My great grand parents weren't even living in the United States after the Civil War all I can offer is "have a nice day".
During the riots some received their reparations in the shape of big screen TVs and boxes of shoes. There you go Toby take that and be happy.

After 45 years as an educator I have found a consistent, universal truth to be: "You teach what you tolerate". If lawlessness is tolerated, bad actors will learn that intimidation pays big dividends. All that is needed for evil to prevail in the world is for good people to do nothing.
Antifa are really anti-capitalists. They bait the police to entice a violent or forceful reply to their actions so that they can say "See, 'they' really are Fascists and must be opposed by any means necessary. Preemptive strikes against 'them' (capitalists) are therefore justified".
Reparations are just another way to redistribute wealth (see Marx, and not Groucho). Lincoln defined slavery as "You work, and I eat". Reparations and/or Marxism would put the producers of wealth into slavery thereby reversing the rolls of the oppressors and oppressed. Slavery is wrong no matter who is held in servitude.
Jefferson's original draft of the Declaration of Independence listed universal rights of Life, Liberty, and Private Property.
Amendment IV of the Constitution protects property now. Maybe someone should start paying more attention ensuring the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

Reparations have already been paid in full. Most have been on the govt payroll for years, benefits for years, affirmative action policies for years and subsidized housing for years. The only thing they haven't gotten is on the educational side. And that is because of their own leaders. Blacks and other democratic leaders who have run the black communities for over 60 years have destroyed their educational systems. They have denied black children the opportunity at a better education. They have refused to institute programs supporting voucher programs, school choice or charter schools. Why, because young black lives don't matter. Their leaders are in bed with the teacher unions who oppose such programs. Your children do not matter. Get it yet....

Another scam just waiting for some enterprising people to take advantage of. Reparations ideally would go to those who could actually prove their ancestors were slaves. Most of the blacks today would have a very hard time proving that. Besides, they have already had Billions in reparations since LBJ signed the family destruction act that allowed welfare to run amok in the black community.

All Africn Americans will give their DNA to check their ancestorey to see if they came from countries in Africa that did not let the Muslims sell their people into slavery. Then those who are descendants of those from countries that did must prove that their ancestors were slaves or slave owners which many were. In that case they are not qualified and should kick money into the kitty. They also need to prove that their ancestors were slaves in THIS country. We have a lot of people from the Caribbean and South America here and they can't be counted. Then a lot of African Americans came to the States and settled in the northern tier and were not victims either.
After that, we deduct the costs of EEOC programs, Food Stamps and the like, free medical care and housing from any bounty and prove that that these survivors have suffered irreperable harm by being captive here in the US.

My great great etc grand-pappy slept with his slaves. Does that count?
Actually when he moved west, they traveled with him as family helpers devoted to their Missy. They and their children were left land at his death along with his white family. Though freed they chose to go west with their former mistress as she was helpless. And were family.
