Elmer Fudd is still hunting wabbits, but now he hasn’t got a wifle. The Looney Tunes cartoons have been remade for a modern audience, and Fudd is no longer allowed to have a gun. Warner Bros has commissioned a new animation series featuring the classic characters, including Bugs Bunny, which sticks close to the spirit of the originals. But viewers may notice a difference when it comes Fudd—whose catchphrase was: “Shhh. Be vewy, vewy quiet. I’m hunting wabbits.” In response to US gun violence, the showrunners will not include firearms in Fudd’s arsenal.(Snip) “We’re not doing guns,” said Peter Browngardt,

What about Yosemite Sam and his six shooters? What about the Martian and his laser blasters? It totally changes the story lines.
Meanwhile, back in reality, guns are flying off the shelves.

Elmer Fudd is finally being exposed as the wacist he has always been. He will now take a knee at the foot of that wascally wabbit and beg forgiveness.

He may have to take both knees and transition to Elsie Fudd in order to achieve complete redemption.
My sainted (her opinion) grandmother warned me about all of this back in the '60s

Elmer doesn't use a "rifle." It's a shotgun. Most of the really good cartoons use violence. What are we going to get? Wiley E. Coyote plotting to get the Road Runner to use a salad fork for an entree?

#3. Can’t use a fork — sharp like a knife (also verboten).
#7. Foghorn Leghorn will, ah say, have a cockney accent and can’t say, “boy, I say boy, you gotta....
#2. Nope, lets make the leftards leave the planet. They definitely don’t deserve this world.

The "modern" audience is now as looney as the cartoon. The new Elmer will probably have green hair and an earring.

It's about time. I don't know how many countless times I've heard murderers mention that their influence was Elmer Fudd. And I'm sure Mr. Peter Browngardt is happy to go watch gun violence that Hollywood produces.
And all those time the wascally wabbit never got hurt with a gun.

A life long Warner Bros cartoon fan (i.e., freak) I can say at last that the new ones are a travesty. Bugs Bunny arguing with another character about his purse! It isn't just stupid and anti-type, it is just bad drawing and writing. The Ink and Paint Club is close. Forever. The rioters might just as well burn it down too. You said it, #14!

I love looney tunes. Watched them all my life, as did my sons. One time I went "shhh' to one of them and he said "we're huntin' wabbits." I had to laugh. Fast forward to my dad funeral, somewhere someone said "shh", you know hat came to mind next. Dad would have loved it.

How about we remake The coyote and the roadrunner and the coyote doesn't try to get the roadrunner but just wants to be friends. So all the funny gimmicks that Willey uses and go wrong will be left out to be pc. What a bunch of crap. It's not good vs evil anymore. It's going to be someone nice trying to befriend someone not so nice. What a joke. This whole idea should fail before it even starts.

As a life long fan (Saturday mornings, grabbing some cereal and milk - circa 1960 - turning up the HVAC and sitting on the vents with blankets and waiting for the intro!)
I've managed to assemble a minor collection of their work and was privileged to meet a few of them.
I have 2 hours of "Bugs and Daffy, The War Years" that are never shown (From LaserDisk - remember those?) to BetaMax! to MPEG4
Still want to find a good copy of "Song of the South"

For a good animated feature, I gently recommend The Incredibles. It's smart, well-executed story-telling, and it makes some nice points about enforced equality versus exceptional achievement.
