What began as a peaceful protest in Cleveland on Saturday—over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer— turned violent as the day progressed, prompting Mayor Frank Jackson to issue an 8 p.m. curfew and to request National Guard reinforcements to protect the city from rioters. Corbo’s, a tiny family-owned bakery in the city’s historic Playhouse Square district, took matters into their own hands, brandishing their firearms when rioters came calling.
In a video captured by Rob Rash, rioters and looters can be seen approaching Corbo’s Bakery, taunting the owners and threatening them with iron rods and a large pylon with a heavy metal base.

They did fine. No physical attack on them, so they never pointed the shotguns at anyone. It was just clear that if there was going to be an arson attempt, the bakers could defend against that sort of a violent attack.
And the thugs passed on by. This is the desired outcome, make them decide not to attack.

Good on them for defending their property, but what's impressive about that 'arsenal'? More hyperbole from a journalist?

The " protester" was complaining that the defenders of the bakery were at fault, the defenders were " egging " the looters/rioters/ arsonists on. Professional victims

The rioters came back later and broke Corbo's front window. Disgusting.

Stupid liberal. "You've got insurance" - yeah, with a big deductible, and probably a separate deductible for glass, for which they pay thousands of dollars a year, and if you submit a big claim your rates are liable to increase, and insurance NEVER covers everything you lose....
These people will drive you crazy if you let them.

It’s obvious these looters/rioters were not indoctrinated in our publik skools to respect property rights and free enterprise.

Sorry, there is no insurance coverage for civil unrest and anarchy. The only insurance that has coverage is a semi-auto 12 GA shotgun and extra ammo.

#11 - I thought your story was going to have a different ending. My Dad and TK were LAPD, and both told me many times that the quickest way to stop a bar fight was just to pump the shotgun. They said it was like playing the game of Statues.

In the article the guy who took the video (Bob Rash) writes: "At any rate I am glad you guys protected your stuff and that other businesses got destroyed."
What's that, he's GLAD that OTHER businesses were destroyed? These people are SICK.

I have a God given right and a moral responsibility to defend my family, home and workplace from the vermin and thugs who want to attack them. If good people do not defend them selves with deadly force we will not exist as a people and good will be terminated and evil will prevail everywhere.
A slogan to live by: Looters Shot!
Get me my rifle and my pistol. I thirst.

One of the bakery guys was holding a 'street sweeper' which is a scary weapon - a 12 ga. shotgun with a hand grip rather than a stock.
Even the stupidest of the feral youths knew better than to mess with the Italianos...

#18, the term "street sweeper" is the commercial trade name which was used for a now-illegal, revolver shotgun with a 12 cartridge cylinder. The pistol grip shotguns are sort of handy, but having shot them myself and watched people trying to compete in competitions with them, they are dramatically less effective due to missing terribly at anything beyond about 6 ft range because you have difficulty indexing when not up to eye level. At eye level, care must be taken not to hurt yourself in recoil with just the pistol grip since the recoil is far more than any pistol. Very handy to carry, horrible to shoot, frankly.
The real StreetSweeper trademarked gun was a pretty much terrible design. A friend has one, I have handled it, but not shot it.

You are far better off to bring a normally stocked shotgun to the shoulder for firing, it is dramatically easier to hit with, and to control the substantial recoil.

Sorry, but what kind of person goes along to video acts of violence ? Getting paid ?
People do what you let them. To say this is the "protected class" would be an understatement. "No fear"

I like how the black bystander defended them and said they were just trying to defend their sh*t. Maybe it is just as simple as the black guy likes the bakery. That brings people together more than anything.
