This Is Easy: Don’t Excuse,

Why do they keep doing it? Decade after decade, generation after generation, progressives keep making the same, elemental mistake: They downplay, excuse, and in extreme cases even encourage urban rioters. We’ve been down this road before, and it’s a straight stretch of highway with no twists whatsoever. It would take a moral moron to get lost on it, and yet somehow progressives keep managing to do so. This isn’t hard. The people of Minneapolis are right to be angry about the savage death of George Floyd, but rioting will not bring him back or honor his memory, and the riots will make everything even worse. The Democrats and the media

"People are more important than property" is a statement being used by officials with authority. Excuse, but it is not up to you to decide what is more important. Yes, in our personal lives, people should be more important than assets. I am making that distinction because if you are in an official position of authority, you should be viewing people and property of importance. You are there to protect, serve, and provide leadership for those kind of situations. A person has no right to harm a person or property but a person does has EVERY RIGHT to defend themselves when harm is being caused. So if you don't understand my point, they are equally important in protecting and serving. As more and more Democrats are put into positions of authority, the more a person sees they have problems discerning right and wrong. Their wisdom is lacking. If a person has read Ecclesiastes in the Bible, the understanding will come that wisdom comes from God only. If you belong to the party that is trying to take God out of society, you can probably do the math. . .

The "protests" are all premised on the same assumptions-- adherents have a "right" to a perfect existence where no random bad ever happens to them. When it does, we are all guilty of not "caring" enough to have prevented it. These are the core beliefs of toxic narcissists. I'm waiting for the a tort lawyer commercial for people who have had flat tires.

"Ransacking Minneapolis does not advance black America’s cause." No. This article makes a nice rational argument. Unfortunately, there are those who are irrational. Then there are those (dems, Black leadership, media) who are all too eager to use irrationality to pursue goals (winning elections, power, control) that have nothing to do with Black issues and in fact pursue objectives harmful to Blacks. To these people, the rioters are useful idiots.

What happened to, "Stay at home. We are all in this together"? Shut down the rioting cities and arrest anyone out on the street. Kind of like law abiding citizens going to a beach in CA or NY.

We are not excusing, defending, or encouraging rioters. Left wing activitists, Antifa, Black Lives Matter, communists, and others are doing that----and they are paid to do it by Soros and other left wing groups. So National Review, please forward your advice to them, and see how easy it is. Since National Review thinks they have the answer, run for office and fix the problem, since it is easy. Others, mostly the we's referred to, think the answer is enforcing the law, so those that pay those rioters are put in jail. When Soros and the others paying them are jailed, that is when justice will be served.

The rioters are so stupid that they even attacked a CNN building, one of their biggest cheerleaders. We ramped up to fight COVID-19 in a couple of short, frantic weeks. It would be interesting to see how quickly we can build offshore prison facilities like Gitmo to house those who hate America and its citizens. Let them riot for food and water instead of big-screen TVs.

Quoted in the article: “If you cannot attain JUSTICE by engaging the system, then you must seek other means of changing it. That’s not a wish; it’s a premonition.” (emphasis added.) Justice is protecting the safety of people and their property by swiftly and consistently punishing those who would do them harm. That has happened in this case. Justice has been done. But the Left, AS IT ALWAYS DOES, is redefining the definition of the word. To them, justice is right to more free stuff because somebody exercised free will in the wrong direction to there interests. These are the Minority Report riots. They are burning you cities down because you didn't fly to Minneapolis and preemptively stop an incompetent cop from injuring a street criminal. That's a particularly attractive thing to be fighting for, because, like control of man-made global warming, it's not demonstrably unprovable and can never happen. Which means they get to keep on doing what they're doing.

There’s nothing like a row between Twitter and President Trump to turn everyone into an expert on 47 U.S. Code § 230, a heretofore obscure section of federal law that deals with liability protections for companies like Twitter. Go on social media right now and you’re bound to find friends, neighbors, and colleagues opining on federal statutes and citing old Supreme Court cases to bolster their arguments that we have to do this or that right now to save the internet or protect free speech. So let me just say up front, I am not an expert on Section 230 or on federal liability law generally.

Watching the Minneapolis Police Department abandon its precinct to the torch and crowbar-wielding peaceful protesters in that Democrat-run state and city, my first thought was that I should disarm. After all, I have been reliably informed by our smart and competent elite betters that I don’t need firearms because the police will protect me, and I am sure that even though they can’t defend their own police station they will absolutely defend me, my family, and our pet unicorn Chet. Confusingly, I have also been reliably informed that the police are evil monsters of racism and badness and that they should be the only ones with guns

Eight states and Washington, D.C., will hold primaries on Tuesday, marking the busiest electoral day since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in mid-March. Besides presidential contests, the races include a number of congressional primaries, which could have implications for the fight to control the House and Senate in November. In Iowa, Rep. Steve King (R) will fight to defend his House seat from a GOP challenge from businessman Randy Feenstra, who has been backed by much of the Republican establishment.

Federal, state, and local officials urged U.S. citizens for months to stay indoors to slow the spread of the coronavirus. But now that densely-packed mobs have plunged major cities into mayhem, it’s going to be much harder to enforce lockdowns or social distancing. Initially, political leaders said shutdowns were temporary expedients to ensure that infections were spread out over a longer period of time so that when there was a peak, the case count was low enough that it wouldn't overwhelm hospitals and trigger a collapse of the medical system. Once that goal was achieved, however, leaders remained illogically reluctant to reopen the economy and transitioned from talking about hospital

When the Justice Department filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, it didn’t expect much pushback. Instead, the judge in the case declined the dismissal, opened up a separate investigation into Flynn and hired a high-profile defense attorney for himself. The district court judge, Emmett Sullivan, has hired attorney Beth Wilkinson to represent him as the Flynn case moves forward, a highly unusual decision for a judge. Wilkinson is known for representing people in high-profile cases; She is the same attorney who represented Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his nomination process.

Law enforcement is a vital response to any riotous uprising. Indeed, I believe the failure to enforce the laws without apology from the start of the upheaval last week has fueled its ferocity. It would be naïve to claim that much of the violence, which is being incited and coordinated by radical groups, might not have happened anyway — these groups are always on a hair-trigger, pouncing on any opportunity to make mayhem. But how badly things get out of control has a lot to do with the resolve of state and federal law enforcement. The laws do not enforce themselves. Progressive dogma notwithstanding, rioting spearheaded by radicals

It was inevitable that George Floyd’s death would spark protests against police brutality, and that mendacity would characterize the attendant media coverage. True to form, the press affected dismay when the demonstrations devolved into violence, yet reported the riots with obvious approbation. The most obscene example of this was the widespread use, in headlines and ledes, of an out-of-context Martin Luther King quote suggesting that the civil rights leader would have condoned the mayhem. USA Today, for example, ran a feature story bearing the following title: “‘A riot is the language of the unheard’: MLK’s powerful quote resonates amid George Floyd protests.” This grotesque misrepresentation of Dr. King’s views

George Orwell’s timeless admonition, “Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them,” has been given new life by the desperate efforts of pundits, scholars and Twitter blue-checks to defend the violence, looting, disorder and general monstrousness that have overtaken America’s cities. The glorification of mob violence and petty criminality that was one of the disgraceful hallmarks of bien-pensant thinking throughout the 20th century resonates through every tweet, every deep TV observation and every piece of writing that casts the coast-to-coast destruction and anarchy in a positive light. A Northwestern University journalism professor named Steven Thrasher took to Slate to offer this analysis:

Few American days were starker in their contrasts of hope and horror. Saturday, after all, saw the dichotomy of a bold American leap into space, and a brutal lurch into profound civil unrest. The horror of mass rioting in more than 30 major cities absorbed the nation's attention. Hundreds were arrested, perhaps thousands, with some of the nation's most famous streets became scenes of unbridled battle. The saturation of cell phone video cameras gave us a running tally of the mayhem. Imagery of burning police cars, smashed out windows, and warring Americans. Of camouflaged soldiers moving to support overwhelmed civil authorities. Of hyperventilating partisans on Twitter.
