Safe elections? Postal worker busted for
mail-in ballot fraud

Just as the left attempts to sell us on the idea of solid mail-in voting for all future elections in the wake of the coronavirus, out comes the first arrest for mail-in ballot fraud. According to the Washington Times' Stephen Dinan: Federal prosecutors on Tuesday lodged mail-fraud charges against a postal worker they say altered absentee ballot requests in last month’s primary election. Thomas Cooper, 47, admitted to changing information on the requests for ballots — including five where he switched the party primary from Democrat to Republican, according to investigators. He told them it was a joke. The charges were announced the same day that President Trump renewed his attack on mail-in voting,

If you can get to the liquor store for spirits or the nearest convenience store for smokes, both of whom require photo I'd for certain purchases, then you can get your lazy butt off the sofa or easy chair to go vote in person!!

This has gotta be fake news. A postal employee (no doubt in the Dem-controlled postal employees union) is changing ballots from Democrat to Republican? That, or postal employees are dumber than I thought.

The Dems pay 2 paks of "Newports" and 10 bucks per vote and a ride in a old pick up..........both ways. Judges are 'elected' in Texas. In small/poor counties it's treated like a day off work and some 'walkin' around money. Just troll the wrong side of the tracks. Don't haffaa 'splain nuffin. Not kidding. Mail in ballots will spoil this charming southern tradition.

Twitter put a warning on one of the President's tweets the other day. His tweet said that voting by mail was susceptible to fraud and Twitter marked it as wrong. Are they now going to remove their false marking?

The other day a Democrat talking head said the only ones caught cheating in the last election we’re republicans. Wouldn’t you think they would want to make sure all votes were legal, if that was the case? So why are the wanting vote by mail? I think we know the answer.

"It was a joke." This default defense has been used recently by a Democrat presidential candidate, a large-state governor and a postal worker that have been caught being racists, elitists or partisan flunkies. Its the playground version of, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" Its the deflection of all bullies when victims or their champions call foul. In a corrupt environment this is an acceptable dodge. However, it is unacceptable in a fair and law abiding society where it signals a weak and possibly dangerous individual. Back in grade school Mother Mary Catherine knew exactly how to handle such a response, with swift and sometimes painful justice. Of course the miscreant could appeal to Father Patrick McGoldrick, but only the public school transfers ever tried that...and only once. President Trump often puts me in mind of Fr. McGoldrick. Go figure.

This is just the tiniest tip of a huge iceberg of corruption, fraud, abuse and errors that await this disastrous idea.

Lawn signs sprouting in my suburban neighborhood state: "Graduating Class of 2020 — #AllInThisTogether." Our seniors chose that message, no doubt, because it's in use everywhere. But one more pronouncement of our so-called "togetherness" may make me scream. Across the country, some are more "in this" than others. It's all a matter of being essential. Or not. Or caught at a particularly good (or not so good) stage of your life or career. How do you prepare for the unexpected? My dentist is non-essential. It's impossible to offer virtual dental services. My RedState colleague Nick Arama wrote earlier today about how Twitter is now “fact checking” President Trump’s tweets, starting with two he posted on Tuesday about how mail-in ballot voting is ripe for fraud, and has the potential of “rigging” the 2020 presidential election. As Nick noted, a number of high-profile conservatives fact checked Twitter in response, debunking their erroneous claim that Trump’s statements about voting by mail were “unsubstantiated.” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was another who pushed back hard against Twitter’s dismissal of Trump’s remarks on mail-in ballots, posting a series of tweets on the issue.

Lost in the shuffle of the Memorial Day holiday weekend — unusual, though it was — an Illinois judge unloaded on Governor J.B. Pritzker’s still-in-effect stay-at-home order this past Friday. I’ve written previously regarding the significant distinction between Chicago — and even Springfield — and “outstate” or “downstate” Illinois. This judge’s decision further highlights that great divide. The back story: State Rep. Darren Bailey, a Republican from the state’s 109th District, filed a lawsuit against Pritzker in April, asserting that Pritzker’s stay-at-home order unfairly affected the residents of his home county. Clay County Judge Michael McHaney issued a temporary restraining order in that matter, but only as to Bailey himself,

In the age of instant news, do we even need a daily White House press briefing? The latest from the talking heads club is that some, from Chris Wallace to Jonah Goldberg, find Kayleigh McEnany a little "Indefensible And Grotesque." I've seen a couple of Kaleigh's performances and it's hard to think of her as "grotesque." She is self-assured, but grotesque? After all, this is a group of reporters who ask questions like comparing the pandemic death totals to Vietnam casualties or another blamed the president because someone listened to him in February and died of the virus.

Hopefully, many of the things that lay heavy upon the nation right now will be in our collective rear-view mirror in the near future. These things include constant mention of pandemic and crisis, hourly radio reports and TV news reports of coronavirus infections and deaths, face masks, the pronouncements of "experts" like the little gnome man and the scarf lady, and ubiquitous signs and messages that implore us to stay home and stay safe (OBEY!) All of this is aimed at creating and reinforcing a state of fear and panic because scared people are easier to manipulate.

President Trump has won the lockdown wars as coronavirus-related restrictions on businesses are eased across the country, so far with few signs of dire health consequences for the population. Just weeks ago, the question was whether to reopen, with the first states to press ahead accused of engaging in human sacrifice and killing their residents to appease the “Trump death cult.” New York Times columnist Paul Krugman asked, “How many will die for the Dow?” as recently as Thursday. Now, the debate is primarily over how quickly and to what extent reopening should take place,

Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said there's no evidence that shows the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is effective at treating COVID-19. "Clearly the scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of efficacy for it," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease doctor, said during a CNN interview. Fauci said evidence also shows the likelihood that the drug can cause severe irregular heart rhythms. "There was suspicion of that for a while, but as data comes in, it becomes more clear," Fauci said. The pronouncements mark Fauci's strongest warnings yet against the drug and puts him at odds with President Trump, who has embraced the drug as a "game changer" and a "miracle."

Well down in the article, the reporter reveals that: “The rapid onslaught of this coronavirus forced

There’s a good chance the coronavirus will never go away. Even after a vaccine is discovered and deployed, the coronavirus will likely remain for decades to come, circulating among the world’s population. Experts call such diseases endemic — stubbornly resisting efforts to stamp them out. Think measles, HIV, chickenpox. It is a daunting proposition — a coronavirus-tinged world without a foreseeable end. But experts in epidemiology, disaster planning and vaccine development say embracing that reality is crucial to the next phase of America’s pandemic response.
