There have been 100 days since there were any recorded sunspots, which one expert says is evidence that we are entering a phase called solar minimum, reports said.
There have been whispers on social media about an impending Ice Age (Just What We Need!), but NASA scientists have said we should not be overly worried, according to PennLive.com.
“So far this year, the Sun has been blank 76 percent of the time, a rate surpassed only once before in the Space Age,” SpaceWeather.com reported, according to Forbes. “Last year, 2019, the Sun was blank 77 percent of the time. Two consecutive years of record-setting spotlessness

Ummmmm no. The sun has had fewer sunspots for going on three years, not two. The last cycle had reduced sunspots for two years only.
And right on schedule, a story to debunk the notion that the giant thermonuclear furnace over our heads has no affect on climate.

Who knows. I just read an article yesterday that they are projecting a hotter than usual summer this year. Go figure!!!

Just try working high frequency (HF) bands using amateur radio. No or low solar activity means less ionospheric reflection. There’s no 28 MHz/10 meters during the daytime, whereas during a maximum one can work South America and the Caribbean easily during daytime. The maximum usable frequency (MUF) sometimes gets up high enough to use 21 MHz/15 meters or 14 MHz/20 meters. At night, 7 MHz/40 meters or lower is all there is.
But it’s gives you something to do during lockdown, I guess.

Of course 2020 will be the hottest year ever. The boffins will adjust the models to make it so.

All I know is that last year in May, here in the Lowcountry, our temps hovered around 95-105 the entire month. This year we have barely topped 80 on a few days. And we’ve had no rain at all, just lovely blue skies.

Why worry about something, when there isn't a damned thing we can do about it.?

Which obviously means we need to extend the lockdowns until we find a cure for the lack of sunspots, or until the election, which ever comes first.

Woah, you mean the sun does stuff and it effects our weather? Hey now, according to that angry, teenage Swedish scold you must be a science denier.

Years ago, when we moved here (just east of Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains) a wise old local resident (now deceased) gave us this warning. "Don't plant your 'maters' til the end of May 'cause the ground is too cold". His actions with regard to weather were based on experience and common sense. "Professionals" who tell us about weather and/or climate are sometimes as accurate (or inaccurate) as professional economists who tell us about the economy.

Excellent explanation, #3. We HAMs know what's going on. The sky is NOT falling and the sun will be there for a long time to come.

I spent a lot of the past weekend viewing Blue Planet on NatGeo, narrated by Sir Richard Attenborough. Sir Rich was very informative, telling me about the communication habits of sperm whales, about the parenting skills of harpy eagles (what a monster of a bird, btw) and the habitats of polar bears and walrus. The poor Arctic Circle animals, did you know their habitat is decreasing to to MMGW???? And we're to blame! I feel sooo guilty. I must have been hallucinating when I read articles about how Arctic sea ice is, in fact, increasing!

Not one ounce of proof, but they have their models. Guess this is what passes for science these days. Making models.
Had to look it up on Wikipedia to see what they are talking about. Solar minimum is a period of fewer sun spots and fewer resulting solar flares. Solar maximum is a period of more sun spots and more solar flares. They go in 11 year and 400 year cycles. They try to show periods in our history going back as much as 3000 years. How long have they been measuring this? 50 years? Not 400 years.
No real proof, but it makes a good story. Might even be true. Or not. At least they can measure it now, but not sure how much old data they can compare it against. No real way to verify the results because there isn't enough data. When did they start measuring this stuff?

The evidence has been clear for a decade, nothing new. The last four solar cycles (11 years each) have had lower maximums and lower minmums than each preceding cycle. It has been a trend for half a century.

Yes the sun is cooling.
Maybe some one should look into what to feed it.
