Beware of coronavirus mission creep

Original Article

As leaders prepared the public for what would turn into widespread shutdowns of business and leisure activities, they made it abundantly clear that the point was to “flatten the curve” of growth in coronavirus cases. That is, when it was clear that the virus could not be contained, the strategy shifted to an effort to space out inevitable infections over a longer period, so there were as few cases as possible at the peak. The idea was to prevent the number of cases from exceeding the capacity of the hospital system and thus saving the system from collapse.

It isn't mission creep when it was the mission all along. The communists (disguised as Democrats) have been trying to do something like this for a long time. Now they've found their opportunity and they dont intend to waste it.

Like lemmings, many people will follow any government edict because it is easier than accepting responsibility for their own lives. Like climate change, they believe everything they hear, even without evidence to back it up.

Those arguing to continue lockdowns unntil a vaccine is available are at best disingenuous or stupid. The lockdowns are already worse than the disease. The longer the lockdowns continue the more devastating the damage done and there may NEVER be a vaccine. HIV has been known for almost 40 years but there is still no vaccine to prevent it or drugs to cure it, only drugs to treat symptoms. So how stupid are these advocates for continued lockdowns? What is their real motive? We already know!

Mission creep? Really? Adding 6.4 trillion to our debt in 6 weeks, not 8 years is "mission creep"? WTI prices closing at NEGATIVE 40 bucks per barrel and now stuck around 11 bucks per barrel because worldwide oil consumption is down 33 percent and there's NO PLACE to store oil, is "mission creep." Twenty six million people who applied for unemployment in the past six weeks (and that's just U-2) bringing U-2 unemployment to 16 percent and real, U-6 unemployment to somewhere above twenty is "mission creep"? The tyranny and one hundred percent unconstitutional actions of state and local governments throughout the nation with no end in sight to their ignoring the Constitution is "mission creep"? I don't want my fellow Dotter from Arkansas to blow a gasket over so much negativity, but what is it called when the consequences for the "mission creep" over reactions come due?

It’s disturbing to see how willingly we’ve given up our freedom and how easy it’s been to manipulate the populace into becoming snitches. Now that the lockdowns are “easing,” some fascists are becoming more aggressive. For example, Ohio’s governor and his annoying sidekick Dr. Amy yesterday said they were allowing some businesses to reopen (allowing?) but as of May 12, face masks will be required to go into any retail store. I’ve been out shopping since this dempanic began, building up immunity and supporting my local business. I’ve stood in line to get into the hardware store for necessary supplies because they would only let a handful of people in at time. I sit in my car to worship. I practice social distancing, I clean my cart and hands. Now, now that things are easing, the governor tells me that stores must refuse to serve me to if I don’t wear a face mask. Now that we’ve done what they told us to do for 6 weeks? Now that it’s clear their dire warnings have proved wrong? Now that millions have lost their jobs and many businesses will never reopen? I won’t do it. They keep moving the goalpost. They’re going to ride this “crisis” as far as they can. I would have never believed how easy it would be. Most of my friends are all in and think I’m heartless and reckless. Wake up citizens! Sorry for the rant.

The 'experts' sound like captain hindsight. The intended goal to free hospital capacity (which was not needed) and flatten the curve were met. Now, kung flu is a pretense to confine law abiding citizens yet release dangerous felons onto the street to protect them from the flu? If I can safely navigate a grocery store, I can safely navigate my barbershop which is more essential to me than any of my congressional delegation. The experts should focus on their job instead of social justice going forward.

Indeed, there is and will be continued "mission creep". The dims, globalists, msm, and the American deep state need something to replace their "climate change" narrative which was intended to globalize the world. Climate change is not transforming the world as the new worlders had hoped. Rather, a populist nationalism has re-gained the advantage. Posters here have commented previously about Agenda 21 and how it has now morphed into Agenda 2030. In generic terms we are more familiar with, the term is the "new world order". Regardless, if we believe the virus pandemic was engineered and planned from the very beginning or if it is a naturally-caused catastrophe from which the new worlders seek advantage, they will exercise every opportunity to get something from it. Will they go so far as to turn the global panic and government strong-arming into an armed global revolution between us and the globalists? There is no way to know, but, judging by current events, I worry. But, the one thing we Americans can control is to prevent the dims from ever holding public office again and/or controlling the federal, state, and local governments. In November, the dims must be shown the door. At all levels. As commented by others here at L/com so many times, America is at a critical juncture in its history and the bridge to move us forward with our liberties in hand is dead ahead. We must ensure the President Trump's re-election and gain control of both houses this time. Guess whose campaign I will be contributing to with a big part of my stimulus money? May God continue to protect the President of the United States and his family.

I suspect they will eventually ALLOW those who test positive to antibodies, or agree to take a vaccine to go out. If they try to force me to stay in seclusion because I am "vulnerable" and won't take a Bill Gates vaccine, I will be asking why all the AIDS patients are allowed to roam free!

One of the more significant things to result from this reaction to the virus is the boost President Trump will get. Compared to all the democrat politicians, talking heads, and media, he has been the most optimistic and steady throughout the ''crisis.'' He has shown what a President is supposed to be. We have watched the democrats and their media hacks go completely off the rails, trying to harm the President and the livelihoods of millions of Americans. Briefings on the progress of the battle against the virus turned into a disgusting and dishonorable display by the juvenile media! Democrats were observed trying to place the blame for every death and shortfall of PPE on President Trump. Democrat's incessant whining about things THEY should have planned and budgeted for are sickening to watch! President Trump landslide 2020!

The so-called "pandemic" is not the problem ... it is the ginned up "panic" that is the problem. Nothing will get people to give up their rights faster than saying "your children will die!!!" .... if they don't follow orders. Then herd mentality kicks in. One steer starts to make a run for it after the loud lightning strike and that scares the five steers next to him. Then you get a crowd of naturally jittery steers to stampede and finally the whole herd has to head for the hills as fast as they can because .... well ...everyone is doing it! In this most recent case, the lightning strike may not have been planned but it has been taken advantage of and is being used to accomplish other ends.

The check out person at the "big box store" said that people are coming into the store to buy unnecessary items and they are rude and mean. One person heaved a piece of PVC pipe at a checker because it didn't have a UPC sticker on it. People are reaching the boiling point over their loss of freedoms. President Trump has been handed the election landslide IF he makes and issue with 2 things: 1) Joe and Hunter Biden's enduring love for and business affairs with China 2) Obama-Biden-Fauci sending $37mil AND the viruses to the Wuhan Lab to investigate bat viruses after the U.S. Congress forbade Fauci and his NIH to continue with that research Pound that home every chance you get, Mr. President. I just came from Home Depot, and there was a man standing outside with a lovely standard poodle. He had his mask on; the poodle didn't, so I scolded the poodle and, happily, the man smiled, because we have to remember that we are recovering and it isn't going to be forever, and we're supposed to be independent Americans. I bought some paint and walked down to pay, and figured I'd just turn around and walk back up to entrance where I came in and get my car. But when i got to that entrance I was told I had to turn around and walk back down to door by the registers because they- he and another guy - were counting everyone who came in. I asked him if I could please just go through that door and he not count me, but he said "No", and he was not smiling. Walking back, I saw a lady with grey hair and figured she'd sympathize with me, but she mumbled something about "Health Department". This is crazy and scary. These people are too old for Common Core, but they think like automatons. I am glad for all the people who are standing up and resisting this kind of numb and dumb behavior. Too much conditioning going on everywhere.

I'd say it's more like "Civil War creep." Initially they just caled us names (racists, deplorables, rednecks, etc.). Then they amped it up by doxxing us, forcing some of us to lose our jobs. Then they turned their Antifa goons loose to beat us up, with the cops just watching. And now, they're locking us in our homes and killing all of our jobs while turning felons loose out of jail. And our sentence keeps getting longer with no fixed conditions on when we will be released. What the hell are we waiting for? Until they start putting us in boxcars? Until THEY actually fire the first shot? We need to be seriously marching on every state capitol and every city hall, and not just wearing the cute little masks.

My biggest concern is how our government seems to have lost its priorities. The top priority has become containing the corona virus, and that's just wrong. The economic devastation worldwide is catastrophic. The circumstances are different, but this is similar to the 1920s and 1930s. Regional economies around the world collapsed, tyrants rose up, and eventually lead to World War II. The economic damage will be felt much longer than the corona virus itself. The top priority must be economic. We cannot ignore that. Its a matter of national security. We have to reopen the United States. The rest of the world has to reopen as well.

It is interesting to watch how fast many politicians are trying to posture themselves into avoiding the blame for all of their draconian "mitigation measures." It started with Trump (whom I believe got snookered by the leftist media and medical toads) wisely seeing that the governors ought to be the ones imposing the real mitigation measures, so they would reap the consequences if their actions proved foolish and costly. Now the governors have figured out they can pass that onus down to the county and city levels (witness Colorado Governor "Police" who has now stated he will let local governments decide when and how to restart their economies), in hopes of deflecting the public's short memory of who first put them in the doo doo. When the chickens finally come home to roost, we are going to witness the biggest finger-pointing exercise in our history. Is there any wonder why one can truly loath politicians for their calculating, wind-testing approach to governance???

Hey #5 - Being negative and a cynic is my schtick. Get your own! (Smile) PDT is no better or worse in this than anyone else in all this. His demand that Ford and GM manufacture ventilators, invoking the Defense Production Act because we were at "war" with the virus, was absolute nonsense. (Let's not forget the many calls for the military to back up the threat, either.) But it is informative. His daily "briefings" that have degenerated into "Defeat the Press" have become stale. And he continues to showcase his team of "experts", who seem to be compromised around here. And he signed away three TRILLION imaginary dollars to save our economy...maybe, and maybe more will be printed for the stated purpose. Now any adjustments of this craziness to minimally re-open commerce are cheered as big deals. They are, and not in the way most mean. They are a continuation of the usurpation of rights guaranteed citizens by emergency decrees issued on faulty models and data ...starting with the projection of millions dying. The public complies with a growing smile. We cheer while we are still choking. We flattened the curve while we flattened our economy.

So many great posts. #19 mentions Trump being "snookered". I'd use a different term, however I think he was convinced against all his instincts. He has spoken about the day when "they" came into his office and told him he was going to have to shut down the most powerful and successful economy in history This brought to mind GW coming into the Rose Garden in 2008, in the middle of the '08 campaign, and having to announce impending economic collapse. He was as white as the proverbial sheet. WHO are these people who go to a (Republican) POTUS and tell him to do something which will destroy him/the Party? "Experts" of some amorphous type who are able to persuade DJT to do something all of his instincts are telling him not to do? His love for America and the American people is why he set in motion the shut-down. Two million Americans could DIE! DIE! DIE! How right he was when he spoke a word of caution, that we could not allow the "cure to be worse than the disease," not even one death! restarting the economy isn't worth one death, then the finger wagging And here we are, with this creepy mission transmogrifying into something increasingly voracious. In '08, the golden boy BO had to win. Remember he was "the one [they'd] been waiting for"? The "fundamental transformation" was well on it's way when HRC was supposed to complete the mission, when the great Interruptor shocked the world and won. For four years the Left has tried to destroy DJT. I can't think of anyone who could have stood up and stood against the onslaught. And now, a new and weirdly behaving virus is let loose across the planet requiring the great engine of the world's economies to grind to a nearly complete halt. ...but ...not ...so ...fast... But the Left still does not get it, that the strength of the USA is her people, and right now, the people, the segment of the population which rolls up its sleeves, that has always signed up to protect and defend our Nation, who walk into the fires of danger and disease, these are rising up and saying, "this far, and no further," we don't want more from the government, but to get back to work! While all of this is going on, something even weirder than this is going on in Biden's Basement. What will, sooner or later, emerge from that Basement, some kind of Dr. Frankenstein's Monster?

The death of Harry Dunn, an English teenager who was killed on August 27 2019, sparked a “bitter diplomatic row” between Great Britain and the United States. At the center of this row is the concept of “diplomatic immunity.” While riding his motorcycle, Dunn was killed in a head on collision with an SUV near RAF Croughton, a military base used by the U.S. Air Force. British police identified the driver as Anne Sacoolas — the wife of an American diplomat — and said that she was driving “on the wrong side of the road” when the collision occurred. The Arkansas Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Democrat Jimmie Wilson is ineligible to serve in the state Legislature due to decades-old misdemeanor convictions in federal court, wiping out Wilson's victory at the polls earlier this month in House District 12. Wilson, a former state lawmaker who was convicted of selling mortgaged crops and illegal use of farm loans, had argued that a pardon he received from President Bill Clinton in 2001 removed any barriers to his potential return to the Legislature. Running against Republican David Tollett, Wilson received more than 52% of the vote in the Nov. 3 election. A unanimous decision by the high court, however, held that the pardon

Trump needs to have overwhelming evidence of election fraud, and he needs to bring that evidence to light in very public hearings. Without such evidence, his claims won’t be taken seriously enough—by the press or a sufficient number of the electorate—to ensure a peaceful transition to a second term. The rush job to affirm Biden as president-elect by the media and the Democrat Party is not constitutionally required, and indeed smacks of a kind of desperation to avoid scrutiny. Contrary to their claims, Trump’s thorough investigation of potential large-scale election fraud is fully in accord with the Constitution. As the one in whom executive power is vested,

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. Noncitizens are obligated to identify themselves and opt out,

The Royal Family was left reeling this morning after Meghan Markle tearfully revealed that the stress of royal life made her suicidal when she was five months pregnant, claimed Archie was denied the title of prince because he is mixed-race and said Kate Middleton made her cry before she married Harry in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. The couple also chose to reveal that they are having a baby girl to the tens of millions of people watching the CBS show broadcast in the US before accusing the Royal Family of racism and revealing the deep rift 'Megxit' has caused with Prince Charles and Prince William.

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.

Without question, the vast majority of Americans who support former President Donald Trump were angry and frustrated throughout 2020 passed with barely a mention of then-U.S. Attorney John Durham’s criminal investigation into the FBI’s fraudulent “Russiagate” counterterrorism operation directed at his 2016 campaign. In the weeks before the November election, word got out that then-Attorney General William Barr wasn’t going to announce any indictments or even a report on Durham’s investigation because he did not want to influence the outcome. So far, in fact, the only indictment to come out of the Durham probe is that of former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who essentially got a slap on the wrist

Rep. Steve Cohen vowed to renew the push to remove former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s name from the bureau’s downtown Washington headquarters, according to an interview released Monday. Appearing on Yahoo! News’ Skullduggery podcast, the Tennessee Democrat said the effort is getting a fresh look after the release of a new movie highlighting the FBI’s secret program to discredit civil rights activists. The Washington Times in 2019 first reported Democrats’ bid to strip the longtime FBI director’s name from the bureau’s headquarters. Mr. Cohen said the impetus to revive the bid is the new movie, “Judas and the Black Messiah.” The movie details

“There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said –-no. But somehow we missed it.” Tom Stoppard The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man. Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
