There will likely be a reopening of our economy on the very near horizon. And this reopening will be much sooner rather than later, with full acceleration within just a few months, perhaps even weeks. Here’s why. Problematic coronavirus testing issues may fast disappear as critical preconditions to reopening the economy. Testing issues won’t go away; they are simply likely to be left largely unresolved. In addition, new reports suggest that infections may be much, much more widespread than most had thought, which, in turn, means that there is a strong likelihood that we have much, much lower death rates from the coronavirus in all age groups.

I feel Georgia did the right thing...open everything!!! Let the individual businesses determine when they will open. My state has a liberal crazy Governor and he is taking his marching orders from the "Regional Director Cuomo". He is dragging his feet trying to destroy our economy. God help us.

The article seems to imply that being over 60 is pretty much a guaranteed death sentence when it comes to this virus (whether true or not, it's not a reason to destroy the country). While the evidence suggests that the older you are the worse your chances, until there is wide-spread antibody testing we really won't know the true degree of infection and survival at any age. To my knowledge there has never been this kind of scrutiny directed at the common flu viruses that come around every year and kill tens of thousands, but I suspect the age-related results are going to be pretty much the same. I'm willing to take my chances and if I'm wrong then so be it. The cure is becoming worse than the disease so let's get cracking and open up America.

No, the country should never have been shut down the way it was, but Trumps back was against the wall. That was obvious. Now he’s having to tippie-toe through so many ghastly land mines but he’ll get this country open as soon as he can, media and democrats be damned.
As soon as this election is over and he wins, it’s going to hurt to be so many different people. Can’t wait to see the beat-down he gives China, it’s going to be delicious!
Comey, Brennan, etc, Pelosi, Schumer, etc, hang onto your shorts, it’s going to get ugly.
Grin!

we have testing tents open on Peach Street, about 1/4 mile south of the Erie, Pa city line. I have driven past them twice in two days, and each time, they were empty of customers.and in banner headlines in today's Erie Times News, VIRUS CLAIMS FIRST ERIE LIFE.He had 'underlying health issues' said our county Executive, Kathy Dahlkemper. And the victim was in his 80s.
Kathy has not told us how many erie lives were lost in the flu season which ended april 4. i guess that doesn't matter.

Our state has been busily reclassifying deaths from many weeks ago as COVID-19, making the daily update look ghastly. One TV news program admitted that only 1 of the dozens of new deaths was recent.

Just open the doors and business will boom...with what? Those government cheese stimulus checks? People have been living on savings for weeks, and if one believes the paycheck-to-paycheck story, they're tapped. Businesses such as restaurants need to restock inventory...and they've had expenses in the meantime, too, with zero or deeply reduced cash flow. Larger firms are hemorrhaging cash and looking for ways to avoid bankruptcy. Manufacturers have no materials, with none in the just-in-time pipeline.
This economy will not be roaring back. It will take much time. And many businesses, from sole proprietors to corporations, will not survive the shock of this "necessary" shutdown. Of course, we can then demand government push more TRILLIONS into the street...

It's going to take a while for businesses that completely closed down to ramp up again - if they come back at all. What if some of the people laid off don't want to come back to work? You know how long it takes to interview new people and get them hired on?

The logic of shut down doesn't support why we want to survive. Everyone survives, no more deaths the nation and humanity are saved but there's no reason to live because there is minimal substance to support all the survivors. This is ridiculous and Americans were never cowards like this before. This is all media hype. Just change the name to Obama. Obama would have put his teleprompter in front of a podium with a dozen people (some fake) wearing white lab coats, declare victory over the disease then gone golfing. Obama doing nothing in the process and the media would have reported the greatness of the man.
With President Trump he doesn't have that luxury and does work and seek to resolve the disasters all while fighting the lying media. This better end soon or this nation will not ever recover.

The leftist and liberal Democrats and their media minions are trying to force the US economy to remain shutdown until the day after the election, thinking that Biden can then come out of his basement as the election winner ready to immediately bring the USA back to normal, emulating Obama era progressive policies, including fostering close relations and expanded globalist trade with America’s friend Communist China, and maybe even sending his well qualified son Hunter to China as the US Ambassador to encourage China to do the right thing by America.
Since the Democrats believe that Trump belongs in a Gulag the future for him will be quite bleak, with criminal investigations targeting him for allowing the COVID-19 virus to enter America, for not having enough specific medical diagnostic testing readily available to immediately test all 330 million Americans for the virus that was unknown to exist more then a month or so before Trump allowed the virus to start infecting Americans, and certainly for not ensuring that there was enough personal protective equipment (PPE’s) readily available for front line health care workers immediately after he took over from the great Obama Administration that had been working 24/7 for eight years providing Americans instead with “Hope and Change”. Then there will be a resurgence of the investigation into Trump “colluding” with the Russians, as there is sufficient evidence to do that, as Trump has admitted that he recently talked with Putin on the telephone and has agreed to send some “scarce” medical ventilators to Russia to help sick Russians. We will see after the November election if enough of the American electorate drinks that faux Democrat cool-aid to make something like the above happen.

This week, I have used available cash to purchased stocks. I have invested an amount equal to my annual gross senior engineer's salary a few years before I retired.
I worked with my financial advisor, selecting stocks which were good, reliable, all-American companies unfairly beaten down by this disaster, which I am convinced will be bouncing back and recovering in the next six to twelve months.
I believe in this country and am betting my money on our companies recovering, and helping them to raise equity funding when others are fleeing and pulling out their money.
We WILL be back, and we WILL be strong again.

This whole article was totally pessimistic about reopening the economy and having people die.
It isn't as if this is March 1 and we don't know what to do or anything that can be done to deal with the bug once you have it. I want the country opened. And if I start having symptoms, I will go right to my doc and ask for the AZ/HCQ/Zn regimen and take it right away.

The economy is re-opening, but not as soon as it should. It should never have been shutdown. Now we have the stores not allowing people in, mandatory masks, aisle pointers, many trying to impose mandatory tests and certifications. No way is that going to work, or be accepted. If you don't let me in your store, I will find one that wants customers. I have never accepted mandatory or compulsion, despise it. If you cannot frame a persuasive argument to persuade people voluntarily, then you have nothing but a power grab. Make a list of those that have abused their power, and remove them from office.
