Dr. Deborah Birx on Monday again defended the city of Jacksonville, Florida, for reopening their beaches, despite heavy criticism from national establishment media.
Birx said that Florida had excellent coronavirus infection data accessible on their website, which showed that the decision to reopen the beaches made sense.
“They had less than 20 cases per day and less than 800 in four weeks,” she said.
She said that each governor and local official should be allowed to make a decision for themselves about when to reopen their states, based on data.
Birx said that Southern Florida had most of the coronavirus cases in the state, such as Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and the Broward County areas.

The "national establishment media" has classified itself to self-inflicted irrelevancy, constantly driibling it's venomous dreck in the guise of reporting. They remind me of an annoying high school braggart who badly needs his backside kicked.

One of my coworkers, who lives in Florida, a former Yank, was complaining about all the northerns who will flock to their state now that the beaches are open in Jacksonville. She lives in the Tampa area. She thinks the governor is stupid, and had the nerve to tell me I was getting false information about the statistics of Covid-19 from Fox News. Told her she couldn't be more wrong; I don't even watch FN or even FB anymore. She actually thinks CNN and MSNBC are legitimate new sources. The conversation was laughable.

kung Flu is passed, person to person in close physical proximity.
darned if I can figure out why being at the beach is somehow dangerous. Same with Golf - I used to play the game, and spent most of the day away from other golfers, except on the tee and on the green.
yet golf courses were closed.

Pretty easy to social distance at the beach. Sunlike wipes out viruses in a very short time, probably seconds on a bright Florida day.

If those statistics apply for Jacksonville then they should apply for about 90 percent of the counties in the US, so let’s open up and MAGA.

Good for her! And here I was beginning to think we were about to be rounded up and shipped to Fauchwitz and Birxenau. Maybe the end of the world communist engineered nightmare is on the horizon.

She is no Fauci, but she has her own ties to Hildabeest. She sure was glum about the fact that the state of WA didn't erupt like she and Fauci thought they would. After that, she seemed to at least try and not appear to attack America with all her predictions that never did seem to come true for some reason. Only semi sarc with that one, but she and Fauci are both globalists at heart, and tried to run this crisis in this country with models made for EU nations, not us.

The media is trying to set a narrative that until we can do millions of tests a day and be very sure that the virus is contained, we should hunker down in our caves. That would probably take 6 months to a year and would destroy the economy and the people it provides for. That seems like a price the media is willing to pay in the hope that undermining the economy will destroy Trump. The ruin of American lives that happens as well? Collateral damage. This is how crazy the media/dems/Left are.
When the media hears that the process will be "data driven" they think it will be the "data" THEY provide, the spin they attach to it, and the narrative they are driving. Fortunately, Birx is not dumb enough to fall into their swamp. Places with low incidence of infection can make an informed judgement as whether to "open" up. Here's a tip. It will NOT all go smoothly and you can be sure the media will count every death and try to drop it in Trump's lap.

I like how the Mayor of Jacksonville Beach put it to people who criticized the beach openings when he was on the news the other day: If you don't like it, nobody is making you go to the beach! A simple and easy answer to those who prefer to continue to self-isolate and hide until they think they will be safe.
