The Pharisaical Spirit

Original Article

Here is what Jesus says about the ruling class of his day. He said this after he entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, shortly after he overturned the tables of the money-changers: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.” There can be a spirit of ugliness that inhabits a ruling class, let’s call it pharisaical hardness. When that spirit of ugliness rears its head, it deserves confrontation -- Jesus made that quite clear.

Trump is seen by the left as being an autocratic dictator but his policies tend to promote liberty and good will.....limited government and good faith. "Style" wins over substance on the left.

Wow. FTA: And I don’t mean just Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Although most are like her. Stupid, officious, sanctimonious, wielding power they should never have been given. It’s pretty typical that this silly fool of a poor pretense of a feminist governor has done what she has done. Edicts about drugs. Edicts against buying seeds. Edicts against buying paint. Edicts about buying American flags. Edicts about being in a boat. Edicts about shutting golf courses. Edicts making abortion a critical service. Edicts about landscaping. Edicts about furniture. Edicts about not being able to go to a second home. Edicts about not gathering for religious meetings. Edicts about people in counties that have had not one COVID case stopping work, staying home, and doing nothing. All the while she was the one who failed Detroit. And none of her silly pharisaical edicts will stop the virus or save anyone from it.

The Pharisees of old hated Jesus, for he threatened their decades of power, and he had to be dealt with harshly. It was not until I read the commentary of Josephus that I understood just how much they loathed him. They took power at the end of the era of Judges, and they had been in power for over 4 decades (sound familiar?) when Jesus came into his own. Jesus poked them, and challenged their status quo and like today, they did everything in their power to destroy him. Watching the Trump presidency is a little like watching Trump the warrior (Jesus) going up against the Swamp and Deep State (Pharisees). Trump cannot win reelection on his own, not without our help. We have to support him and fight right along side of him and take our country back as best we can.

This is exactly the picture I have in my mind so often when the left and Nancy P is popping off and the media. I visualize Jesus and this story. Ecclesiastes 1:9 New International Version (NIV) What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. I find that oddly comforting in the bad time in the world right now and with the horrible hate of the left.

Here's something that ought to kill off the snitching programs set up around the country by local governments to finger local businesses still open in the name of combatting the coronavirus: According to GatewayPundit: Talk radio great Jamie Allman filed a Sunshine law request for the actual emails of St. Louis County residents who've snitched on local entrepreneurs trying to make a living. Most of the complaints were unfounded, involving people "turning in" companies that were deemed essential by the county. Sure enough, he got them. Here. Apparently, some crummy little bureaucrat in the bowels of St. Louis's government went ahead and sent them to the clever shock jock

This past weekend, I and many of my colleagues received the shocking news that famed Obama administration DHS whistleblower Phil Haney had died. My first indication was a text from a friend late Friday night: "Sorry so late but I am hearing Phil Haney has been killed." I had received something earlier in the evening, but the person texting had thought it was a joke. It was no joke. Phil Haney, a long-term colleague and person I had come to know personally, had been shot dead. Rumors from friends contained many inaccuracies, like "he had been missing for days," "found in a remote area," etc.

Virginia house Democrats passed a bill on Tuesday banning the sale of "assault weapons" and calling for the confiscation of magazines capable of holding more than 12 rounds. The bill would outlaw new sales of some of the country's most popular firearms, including the AR-15. It would also make possession of ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 12 rounds punishable by up to one year in prison even if the magazines were legally purchased. The bill, known as HB961, passed the House of Delegates by a vote of 51 to 48 with all Republicans and several Democrats voicing opposition. Democrats in the House of Representatives voted on Wednesday against an amendment to a proposed bill that would prevent the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) from forcing credit reporting agencies to evaluate Americans based on political opinions or religious beliefs. Without such an amendment, Republicans warn, the powerful CFPB would have the legal authority to make nearly any criteria mandatory for a private credit evaluation company to take into consideration, paving the way for a system in which the federal government has the power to assign numerical scores to individuals based on their loyalty to a certain political party, membership in civil society groups that

"They want some other entertainment, and they don't necessarily want to go all the way to D.C. or Baltimore for it." Drag shows aren't totally new to the county. Tarbender's Lounge in

Northam's emergency order will ban weapons of all kinds, including firearms, from the Capitol grounds starting Friday and continuing through Tuesday. He said the order was necessary to protect public safety because of potential violence from out-of-state groups at a gun-rights rally scheduled for Monday. “Let me be clear. These are considered credible, serious threats by our law enforcement agencies,” Northam said at a Capitol news conference. He added that some of the rhetoric used by groups

The Vermont Governor’s annual “State of the State” address was interrupted this year by a loud group of protesters, who refused to stop screaming bizarre slogans until the Vermont State House session was closed so they could be physically escorted from the building. Amidst their shouts of “I’m afraid I’m going to die!” and “Climate justice is migrant justice!,” were repeated condemnations of Vermont’s “dairy industry.” This vague “industry” boogeyman is actually nonexistent in Vermont. The state’s dairy farms have steadily declined, and even its largest operations are puny in contrast to the mega-dairies elsewhere.
