Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is calling on Congress to show solidarity with Americans hurt by the coronavirus crisis and take a pay cut.
With millions of people across the nation facing financial hardship due to government decisions to shut down the economy, Patrick believes members of Congress who “are not hurt” by the same constraints should stand with citizens, telling Fox News host Laura Ingraham that it’s high time lawmakers in Washington “feel some of this pain.”
The Republican lawmaker noted on “The Ingraham Angle” Friday that Texans are ready to get back to work and a slow, safe reopening is being planned by state officials.

Bravo to our Lt. Governor. It is a shame that not one of our many Christians Senators or Congressmen have not stepped forward weeks ago with this idea. God bless you for your stalwart leadership.

Would the pay cut negate the raise they just gave themselves in the first stimulus package?

Pay cut? I thought they already did especially when nobody's reporting to work. When their constituents are suffering financially, facing foreclosure, bankruptcy, and starving, these maggots are doing what?

Great idea, but the House is currently on vacation until May 4. Nancy Pelosi is eating gourmet ice cream out of her $25,000 freezer while tens of millions of Americans are out of work and small businesses are on life support.

It isn't only the legislators. I believe 6 of the richest counties in the US surround DC.
We have an expensive, and mostly duplicitous and unnecessary, bureaucracy (swamp).

A while back I remember Scott Adams saying something that stayed with me, i paraphrase: the politicians are asking us to make great sacrifices and we will sacrifice a lot but you -politician- have to be WORTHY of our sacrifices.
This congressional crew is anything but worthy.

I have to admit, I hadn't even thought of this about the Do Nothing Rats. I would love to see someone try this just to hear the wailing and screeching from those crybaby, useless buffoons. President Trump would have a field day with it.

Someone do it! We then can listen to those lying, useless buffoons scream and holler about it. The Prez would have a field day with them, since he doesn't take a salary.

Start with 50% pay cut this week, 60% pay next week and increase the cut by 10% per week until all restrictions are eliminated. This should apply especially to the tyrant governors.

Our eldest daughter had her restaurant shut down weeks ago and our youngest is facing furlough from her hospital job. If the leftists continue to hold up legislation to hold up help for small businesses, then the leftists should pay the same price.

Congress needs total reform. We should cut all of the unnecessary perks and stop the automatic pay raises without public consent to name a few.

I agree that the Republicans in both the House and Senate show up every day and ask: where are the democrats? Also, take the pay cut and challenge the democrats to do the same. Make a list, every day, of the ones that are not at work, and have not taken the pay cut!
The Pandemic might end a little sooner that way...

I'm thankful that I'm still employed, But I have had a 36.5% reduction in income. My bills still have to be paid and I don't get the benefit of paid vacations whenever I decide. In fact, for at least the next 60 days all paid time off is suspended unless its an emergency.
So yes, Congress should take a pay cut while they are out. Better yet, lay them off in proportion to their own states unemployment. The later and former probably just wishful thinking.

Patrick, you've got Texas to worry about, not chasing after some pipe dream. Take your dunce cap and phony cowboy boots and get back to Austin and do something for the people of Texas. Like, oh I don't know, maybe reel in the local Gauleiters who make Texans' life miserable on a whim.
