NYC Did Have Ventilators Stockpiled, But They
Auctioned Them Off, Now They’re Scrambling

The epicenter of the Wuhan coronavirus has been New York for some time now. Despite some postulating that other states would start getting astronomical numbers, that hasn’t panned out. Some on the left who have been pushing the “Fox downplayed the virus” narrative have been saying that the numbers in “Trump states” would reflect that. How offensive, viruses don’t care about your political status. It isn’t political. But “Trump states” are not catching up to New York and there’s likely a variety of reasons why including difference in population density, possibly more notice before it hit and perhaps being locked down earlier in the progression of the disease in their area.

Comments:

And they have the nerve to blame President Trump??!!!

Red states don’t rely of public transportation. That is the big difference. You can also add stupid urban planning that packs too many people into small areas, reusable grocery bags, homeless encampments, public education and a lack of proper hygiene. But I digress.

"Trump states" also don't have health commissioners, mayors and the Speaker of the House, who announce to the world that everyone should feel comfortable coming to the annual Chinese New Year parade and not worry about racist rumors of a Chinese virus.

28,000 people per square mile, as in New York, makes for fertile grounds for a virus. Those people are always breathing someone else's air.

What impressed me is that the report was specific about the problem. In cases like weather related damage, stockpiles at the federal level make sense because the whole country won't be impacted. You can shuffle resources to the area that was affected. In a pandemic, the whole country needs the same resources therefore each area should plan for its own needs. NYC and NY state made a choice to get rid of the ventilators. The choice may have been a balanced one at the time and criticizing them for it is pointless, IF they accepted RESPONSIBILITY for the choice they made. Fairly or unfairly, such choices that turn to bite you in the butt often lead to political ouster. THAT is what they are trying to duck and dump in Trump's lap. A functioning press would bring out such issues but we have a propaganda arm of the dems instead so they get away with it.

The reason for auctioning them off makes perfect sense. The issue is, once again, the government failed to follow through and replace the old equipment. $ to Donuts the money went to some feel good left cause.

Senate Democrats sidetracked a request from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to pass additional small business funding with unanimous consent. Democrats blocked what they called a “political stunt” by the Kentucky Republican, effectively stalling a request from President Donald Trump for $250 billion for a loan program for small businesses. [Tweet] Votes by Democratic Sens. Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen killed the bill for now despite McConnell’s urging for Democrats to put aside their attempts to include additional provisions. “I’m afraid that this unanimous consent is basically a political stunt because it will not address the immediate need of small businesses in the legislation that we have passed,” Cardin said.

In the midst of all of the cautious suggestions of “good news” in New York City as the pandemic appears to have reached a plateau, other places are only now starting to ramp up toward critical levels where their health care services are being overwhelmed. One such hotspot is in Massachusetts, where Boston Medical Center’s ICU is overflowing with patients and it’s getting hard to find a ventilator for those in the direst straits. The Boston Globe reported that some ambulances headed for the hospital were temporarily diverted to other facilities over the weekend because there were simply no critical care beds available.

Why now? Bernie Sanders hasn’t had a legitimate path to the nomination in a month. He might have scored better in Wisconsin’s primary yesterday than previously projected simply on the basis of the weirdness of the circumstances. Those results won’t be known for another week, thanks to the preponderance of mail-in voting and a bar on releasing results until those are counted. Still, Bernie decided to call it quits today, leaving Joe Biden as the last man standing: Bernie Sanders is ending his presidential campaign, he announced on Wednesday. Rome - Pope Francis has said the coronavirus pandemic is one of "nature's responses" to humans ignoring the current ecological crisis. "We did not respond to the partial catastrophes. Who now speaks of the fires in Australia, or remembers that 18 months ago a boat could cross the North Pole because the glaciers had all melted?
