McConnell: What’s the rush on
Phase 4 coronavirus relief, except

Two key Senate Republicans declared Nancy Pelosi’s tax break for blue-state millionaires dead on arrival — if she has the nerve to actually propose it. The chair of the Finance Committee, which would have to approve the elimination of the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, won’t bother to review it at all. A spokesperson for Chuck Grassley wondered why this would be the time to bring up a tax break for millionaires in high-tax states like California and New York: The office of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after she proposed rolling back a cap on state and local tax (SALT)

No more spending. This country is broke enough. Bring the budgets under control and start cutting government spending. This is where I draw the line.

Nasty Pelousy has been reduced to babbling about the ongoing dem agenda. The only attention she is paying to the "crisis" is how to use it to manipulate the government into filling a dem Christmas wish list. This latest version will help struggling Americans not at all. The dem party is supposed to be "progressive". That usually means that they believe the tax burden should be shifted to the highest earners. Nasty's change is regressive, shifting the tax burden away from high earners and back to the broader population. This highlights, yet again, that the dems have NO principles. This is a purely partisan attempt to reduce federal taxes on Leftist, high tax states that through tax deductions had been using the federal government to subsidize their rampant tax and spend policies.

Trump has already gotten $2.2T from the Democrats. Why not another $2T for infrastructure? With all this money, Trump will not have to ever ask the Congress for any money for the rest of his term. Let them shutdown, move to France, whatever, Trump already will have his funding. Trump may move to Phase V, and effectively return all the taxes paid, or to be paid by business and the people, back to them for the entirety of his presidency. With all that money going back to business and the people, there is going to be great pressure on where the funds are coming from to fund the government? We will have no money for the PBS's, the UN's, the Palestinians, climate changes, medicare for alls, free tuitions, grants to states, Democrat wars, U.S. Chamber of Commerce handouts---all will have to be cut. Elect a Republican Congress and they can start whacking!

John Durham investigation

U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review of the Russia investigation is putting increased scrutiny on former CIA Director John Brennan, searching for any undue influence he may have had during 2017’s intelligence community assessment of Russian interference. Durham, selected by Attorney General William Barr last year to lead this inquiry, drove to Washington, D.C., in March to ensure the investigation stayed on track during the coronavirus outbreak. The top Connecticut federal prosecutor is looking into highly sensitive issues, including whether Brennan took politicized actions to pressure the rest of the intelligence community to match his conclusions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motivations, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

On Friday, a reporter from Telemundo asked California's Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom what emergency relief he would be providing for illegal aliens amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. "No state in America does more to help residents regardless of their immigration status," the governor rightly assured the reporter. Newsom first bragged about the state's healthcare coverage for illegal aliens before explaining how his administration is now helping illegal alien small business owners obtain grants while a large part of the American economy remains shut down.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) on Friday defended his previous claim that coronavirus is a "tremendous opportunity" to advance Democratic policy goals. "I find it kind of interesting that one of my colleagues said he has a problem with me because I'm a ‘restructure government' person," Clyburn told Roll Call. "Yes, Jim Clyburn is a restructuring government guy and everybody with any common sense, and looking at where we are today, needs to be a restructuring government person."

Anthony Fauci, the medical professional at the eye of the coronavirus storm, has just come out and said the federal government should issue a national order for all Americans to stay home, stay inside, stay put. Is he nuts? Let’s rephrase: He’s nuts. On CNN, Fauci was asked by host Anderson Cooper, “Knowing the science, does it make sense to you that some states are still not issuing stay-at-home orders? I mean, whether there should be a federally mandated directive for that or not, I guess that’s more of a political question, but just scientifically, doesn’t everybody have to be on the same page with this stuff?” And Fauci said — yep.

Joe Biden disclosed Friday evening he has told his Democratic rival Bernie Sanders that he is moving forward with cabinet and vice presidential picks. Biden told donors at a virtual fundraising event his campaign is to unveil a committee to vet potential vice presidential candidates “sometime in the middle of the month," and said he has held discussions with others about potential cabinet positions. "One of the things I learned a long time ago, and I really mean this, a good leader has to be willing to have people that are smarter than them, know more than they know about a subject, bring in people who in fact have an expertise

We are living through an extraordinary and unprecedented time. It has required us to readjust our lives, our expectations and our plans. The business of politics is no exception. There's been a lot written over these last few days that this upending of normalcy is taking a toll on former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign. After all, in a non-COVID19 world, Biden would be having a great few weeks. Since his big win in South Carolina, Biden had been on a rout — winning big states and small, and building an insurmountable delegate lead. The political news media would be focused on his success.

The other day Chris Hayes of MSNBC was pouting about the media’s coverage of Donald Trump’s press briefings. He called the airing of them “crazy.” He particularly didn’t like MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell using one of them to talk about “reading the Bible.” Hayes’ pouting captures the arrogance and secularist prejudice of the media perfectly. The media sees its role not as a reporter of news but as a propagandistic arbiter — a Big Brother that will tell the public what it can and cannot take seriously. The media every day conforms more perfectly to Trump’s description of it as an “opposition party.” Its pulling away

An ABC News investigation offers sobering insight into how COVID-19 has spread and penetrated so broadly, so deeply and so quickly in the United States. It also helps explain why Americans, no matter where they live, must continue to heed the warnings of health officials to self distance and why the virus likely was here far earlier than first realized. With the advent of COVID-19, the world has officially entered a dangerous new phase where a surge in international travel in recent decades served as the springboard -- jet fuel, really -- for an infectious disease potentially to kill hundreds of thousands in the U.S.

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly announced Thursday that the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, now docked in Guam, was relieved "at my direction." Navy Capt. Brett Crozier, the carrier’s commander, was sacked after he was accused of leaking a letter to the media that went "outside the chain of command" pleading for help after more than 100 sailors on board tested positive for the coronavirus, and nearly 100 others are suspected of contracting the virus.

What was that notoriously cynical thing that one-time Obama aide, Rahm Emanuel, once said? Oh, yes, "you never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." And the middle of a national emergency, in the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of a time when everyone is making sacrifices, union members are threatening Amazon: Do what I say. Or Else. New York's far-left collection of socialists, unionistas, and lawmakers have sent letters to Bezos and his top executives to dictate to them how they should run the warehouse that is bringing food

For years, we civil libertarians were told that our concerns about the secret court that oversees the FBI’s applications to monitor U.S. citizens were overblown. So what if the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court approved more than 99% of all applications. The bureau and Justice Department must follow an onerous process, we were assured, that protects innocent citizens from being snooped on by their government. Those assurances, as it turns out, were not very reliable. On Tuesday, the Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz issued a new report that found systematic errors of fact in the FBI’s applications for warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

ABC’s Nightline has returned to its old timeslot with a larger audience after late local news (instead of after Jimmy Kimmel Live). On Wednesday’s show, co-host Byron Pitts ended an interview with Vice President Mike Pence by asking him “not in a political way,” but whether he “talk[s] to God” about feeling remorse for Americans who have died “because of steps the federal government did not take soon enough.”So here we had a journalist ask the Vice President if he prays to the Lord with a heart of repentance for having been responsible for dead Americans. Surely, Chuck Todd would be proud of that question.

The decision of American Navy to relieve the captain who warned publicly of coronavirus on his nuclear-powered aircraft carrier strikes us as the right move. We get that it’s a sad setback for an officer in an incredible command. The minute we read the captain’s letter about the crisis on United States Ship Theodore Roosevelt, though, we saw it as a breach on a matter that should have been kept within the chain of command. That’s easy to say, we understand, for a newspaper whose landlubber of an editor can’t go to Jones Beach without getting seasick. We’ve followed the reports that Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) certainly has a way of rewriting history. Pelosi appeared on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell today with Mitchell about a Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that impeachment may have slowed down the federal response to the Wuhan coronavirus. It’s a good question because Democrats have prioritized their quest to get the president any way they can since he was elected and they have never counted the cost of that effort. While Trump responded immediately in January, Democrats were completely focused on their continuing narrative against Trump. The virus to them was just another avenue to try to attack Trump,

Michael Barbaro, host of the Times podcast "The Daily," shared the map with the text, "In a word....The South." Yet both the NYT article and Barbaro's tweet ignored basic realities about American life that help explain the reasons behind the map — and show that the South is not a uniquely dangerous region during this crisis. In the article, "Where America Didn't Stay Home Even as the Virus Spread," James Glanz dissects cellphone location data from the data intelligence firm Cuebiq.

The mass hysteria over COVID-19 in the U.S. is driven in large measure by misleading statistics and bad math about the disease’s body count. (snip) The problem starts with the fact that the highly influential statistics from the Big Apple paint a false picture of what is actually happening. In New York City, the death of anyone who dies who tests positive for COVID-19 is counted as a coronavirus death. This is the case even if the coronavirus failed to play a significant role in the person’s passing or illness. This calculus violates established scientific standards.
