Democrats need to recruit Obama to

It is a given in politics that an incumbent has the advantage until things go wrong, at which point the challenger gets an edge. Then why, amidst panic, death and economic shutdown, is Joe Biden looking like the sick man of 2020? Biden’s predicament is odd considering a key pillar of Donald Trump’s presidency — record low unemployment — is being vaporized. Thursday’s 3.3 million new unemployment claims wiped out nearly half the jobs created in the last three years, and the worst is yet to come.

"Find another candidate" Yup. But people have looked all in every nook and cranny of the Democrat party and they couldn't find a single one. The party is so corrupted by mindless and hypomanic liberalism it has no effective leaders. The cupboard is bare. Anyone capable of analyzing an obvious problem and coming up with a realistic solution left the party two decades a go. Example? One of dozens: All ten top Democrat leaders in the July debate all solemnly raised their arms to demand free health care for illegal aliens, a totally impractical policy that would be reviled by 80% of the electorate.

Obama was the one who chose Biden in the first place. Or at least he accepted the recommendation of Caroline Kennedy. There's no reason to think he would choose wisely this time.

The Dems are between a rock and a hard place. If Biden is their choice, he will likely self-destruct. If the DNC ignores the primaries and picks someone else (not Bernie), they will have a lot of angry voters who may chose to stay home.

If Obama is smart and he thinks this out he would steer clear of the doddering old fool Biden. The Obama's never liked him and you could tell so why step up now to reject or to support the gaff a minute low IQ idiot. The Obama's life is going too well to play in politics again unless they really crave what has driven Hillary Clinton mad and that's power.

If the Democrats deep six Joseph Biden and don’t pick Bernie Sanders who ran all the way through the Democrat caucus and primaries, and instead pick a grandstanding politician who did not run in the Democrat caucuses and primaries, it is easy to understand why Sander’s supporters are going to be mightily offended. What happens then with Sander’s supporters will be anyone’s guess.

Too funny. BO: "You really don't have to do this Joe." And if you do I will have to throw you under the bus. The problem with this is, what is in it for narcissist BO? Right now, challenging Trump is like running into a buzz saw. The desperate dems have tried everything and most of them are missing limbs because of it. Media has been reduced to gibbering monkeys. BO will only get engaged when there is already a clear path to victory. This is Mr. Lead From Behind, remember? Beyond that, when did BO do anything for the party? Under his watch, they lost Congress, governorships, and state legislatures. All the problems that are going on in the economy are BECAUSE of the virus. Americans get that. Likening it to a war is pitch perfect. With wars there is suffering and unpredictability and people KNOW that. People in wars get injured and killed. With the virus, people will get sick and some will die. That's a given and it is happening all over the world. Trump is working out of the pandemic playbook and people know it. As soon as there are signs it is working well enough, he will quickly pivot to economic recovery. A lot of the dems and media are going to be shown up as completely wrong and as the economy recovers, Trump will be seen as even more successful. Cuomo has a lot of baggage associated with NY being so unprepared for this virus. He was governor for 9 years while their preparedness was undermined. Trump is being gracious about that now. If Cuomo is his opponent, Cuomo will not come off well, especially if the federal government under Trump has to bail Cuomo out, which is exactly what Cuomo seems to be begging to happen. Cuomo couldn't manage a state, financially or in dealing with a pandemic. You want to put him in charge of the Country? The dems are desperate. They may ditch Biden and grab Cuomo, incidentally screwing over Bernie again. It won't matter much. Like everything else they have tried to do, it will just push them further down the drain.

Imagine still being so bitter over the 2016 election that you use the tragic, lost lives of Americans to attack the man who beat you. Imagine being Hillary Clinton. The former Democratic presidential nominee took to Twitter to attack President Trump over the fact that the United States now has the world’s highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases. (Note: This raw number is kind of a useless statistic — we are not the highest when you look at cases relative to population size.) Over 2,000 U.S. citizens have died from the virus, but Clinton decided to make light of that fact to dunk on Trump.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has called on his countrymen to buy domestic products as the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak cripples the European single market. Describing his approach as “economic patriotism,” he urged French supermarkets to ‘stock French products.’ The call didn’t go unheard. Following the minister’s remarks on Tuesday, the trade body representing French supermarkets vowed to stock up shelves exclusively with fruits and vegetables produced within France once the foreign products run out, the newspaper Les Echos reported. The French move comes at a time when the 27 member European Union single market faces a massive supply chain crisis in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Will the European Union be one of the casualties of COVID-19? The worldwide pandemic has dealt a dramatic and obvious blow to the liberal ideas of free trade and freedom of movement that inspired and were inspired by the EU. The openness that made it possible to travel and do business seamlessly across a continent has provided the virus with a cornucopia of vectors for transmission. If the refugee crisis of the mid-2010s put strengthened borders back on the continent's political agenda, the pandemic has made the case for hunkering down nationally as well as individually hard to dispute.

NORTH HAVEN, Maine—The ferry to the island of North Haven, Maine, has space for a dozen or so vehicles and 220 passengers. This past Saturday afternoon, there were just three passengers: a cable operator on his way to check the island’s Internet service, and a lobsterman and his sternman returning from a supply run. They made the 12-mile crossing inside their trucks, opting not to venture into the ferry’s empty passenger compartments. About 75 minutes later, they docked at the town landing where a single car waited to depart. Normally, this time of year, the 12:30 p.m. ferry runs about half full.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pennsylvania — It is early Sunday morning along one of the few congested stretches of the Lincoln Highway when an empty parking lot below the familiar cheery yellow sign for the local Waffle House catches the eye. The 24-hour diner chain, born in Atlanta 65 years ago and now spread across 25 states in nearly 2,000 locations, is primarily known for its ability to serve as a touchstone in every community it serves. It feeds a cult-like following among foodies and road warriors. But it is also known for two other very remarkable distinctions: It closes for no disaster, and the stores have no locks.

Covid-19: The Reality Show has taken cable TV by storm. The plot is nominally about a war against an invisible Chinese invader that has already killed over 1,200 Americans. But on another level, it is a family sitcom, a successor to Ozzie and Harriet, Leave It to Beaver, and The Cosby Show. The star is Daddy Donald, a brilliant if erratic father figure, who sometimes rambles on, as fathers are wont to do. He is ably supported by his younger brother, Uncle Mike, who is loyal, steady, competent, and boring. With every strand of his snow-white hair perfectly in place, Uncle Mike always says the right thing.

A Rhode Island public school teacher perhaps gave that chestnut a new meaning by allegedly taking to Twitter with an offer to pay someone infected with COVID-19 to cough on President Trump. The educator in question, who has subsequently deactivated her Twitter account that purportedly operated anonymously under the handle “Proud Teacher,” is said to teach English as a Second Language to middle schoolers. She previously taught in neighboring Massachusetts.
