As Jeff Charles reported, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti predicts that the City of Angels is less than a week away from reaching New York City levels of Wuhan coronavirus cases. Such a major increase (nearly doubling every two days) would overwhelm the city’s healthcare capacity. Garcetti said:
“We will be where they are,” he told reporters on Friday. “We will have doctors making excruciating decisions. We will be trying to figure out what we do with that surge, how to get ventilators, where to find beds.”
If Garcetti had access to three mobile 200-bed hospitals with ICU units and surgical suites, “50 million N95 respirators, 2,400 portable ventilators,

Once this mess is in the rear view mirror, I suspect a fair number of big city residents who can, will vote with their feet and leave the Petri dish they currently live in. Unfortunately for the big cities their tax base will depart with them leaving behind the worst of the worst. Those who have a piece of land somewhere out in the country will be in the cat birds seat.

Gross mismanagement. The President is right to polk at CA.
FTA: the state devastated by wildfires the state didn’t prioritize replacing equipment/supplies that had been used/given away/let expire in the meantime (Snip)
California’s ventilators being resold by hospitals and nursing homes to other dealers, who then likely shipped them out of the United States.” (Snip)
By 2011, when the system was disbanded...

California leadership on display.
Years ago, Jesse Unruh, to my best recollection, said (and I paraphrase), “you ask why we have the kind of politics we do in this state, well, due to the favorable year-round growing climate, we get an abundance of fruits and nuts!”
That explains California politics today.

If ever a city deserved the name "Grasshopper City" (as in the fable of the carefree grasshopper and the industrious ant) it's Los Angeles. Not just carefree, but arrogantly carefree, Dude. As in, who needs to prepare for anything when it's always warm and sunny here, and lots of people from everywhere come here with lots of money and leave their money here, so who cares. Yup,yup, yup, the world owes us a livin'.
Garcetti is just the latest Head Grasshopper mouthing off about our Head Ant.

There was a time when military service and experience was prized by our communities as criterion for public service. While each generation must learn it for themselves, preparedness is the heart of military philosophy. Now we elect people like barmaids because they can look pretty and can act the part. I am not hopeful that anything shy of the 'Next Big One' can save our left coasts.

Another excellent example of leftist failed foresight. Kind of like Cal's neglect of the forest which has brought horrible wildfires to the state.

With a spread that rapid one would suspect that the homeless population is helping out a lot. Garcetti would not admit it because it would destroy the Leftist "compassion" agenda. I'm sure local residents would notice the surge of EMT vehicles among the tents.
I am so worried about Harry and Meghan who just set up housekeeping there. /s

All the bad news that's fit to print won't change the minds of the CA electorate. They'll still vote for the Deathocrats in November.

Eric is no credit to his family name, that is for sure. I suspect we will see more revelations of medical supplies hoarded by democrat officials and unions like those millions of masks that were revealed in Oakland warehouses owned by the SEIU. Obama's people IIRC

I wonder if there's been a surge at the border of people attempting to flee the virus? I'm referring to all the illegals living in California trying to get back to Mexico.
