It should come as no surprise that the left has tried to use the coronavirus outbreak as evidence that the U.S. should adopt Medicare for All. But the data suggest the opposite. The U.S. is doing much better with the virus than those supposedly more enlightened countries.
If you follow the mainstream media/Democratic narrative, the pandemic has laid bare the weaknesses of the U.S. health care system.
Sarah Collins of the Commonwealth Fund, a liberal health care organization, claimed that “We are much more vulnerable to the kinds of spread of illness…. because so many people don’t have health insurance

It would only be killing the case for socialized medicine for those interested in facts and data. And people interested in facts and data don't need to be convinced.
Bad things are happening and our malleable sheepepole will attribute the cause or severity to whatever those they follow tell them to blame. We wouldn't have a thriving socialism movement in the US if the vast majority of us were fact based opposed to fantasy based.
It times of strife people are more vulnerable to the pretenders offering easy answers.

Well, gee, about two weeks ago I pointed out here that the countries with the highest death rates all had socialized medicine. It’s a no brained that that system doesn’t work.

Very good review of the numbers based on per capita comparisons.
Yes, our raw total of cases has surpassed Italy but we have more than 5 times the population. We have about 200 cases per million. They have about 1200 cases per million, 6 times as much. Our death rate is about 1/7 of Italy.

On a trip to Canada, many years ago, I suffered a ruptured appendix. The Drs. did a great job, but for over a week, before I was allowed to return home, I was in a 6 bed ward, with a constant turn-over of patients. In a pandemic like we have now, the spread of the virus would be horrendous, throughout the hospital and the outside citizenship, as the patients were discharged.

I wouldn't say "too great a price to pay...". I will say "totally unacceptable price to pay". Sensible people have to stand up make themselves heard. I am hoping PDT will have the sense and ability to pull us back in time.

The government bureaucrats have NO solutions, they ARE the problem.
Thinking these purposeful under performers can do anything efficient or correct is insanity!
I work for the govt. and fight the Lib stupidity every day...it is simply amazing how people of such low skill can rise to management but it's a sad reality. They then hire their 'buddies' and over time the entire organization goes to Hades in a basket. Count on it!
To say these same types of people have solutions is the most misguided, stupid thing that can come out of someone's mouth!

Italy has been on a single payer plan for several years and their medical system has deteriorated to where they simply cannot handle this current situation.
As usual, politicians are among the least helpful, unless they’re President Trump and company.

FTA: "Sarah Collins of the Commonwealth Fund, a liberal health care organization, claimed that “We are much more vulnerable to the kinds of spread of illness…. because so many people don’t have health insurance coverage in the United States. About 30 million people are currently uninsured.”
The left continues to conflate health care with health insurance. They are NOT the same.
Health insurance has little value if care is not available because the health care system is overwhelmed by too many people needing care. This is the case in Italy.
Just a few years ago, it was claimed that Obamacare would provide health insurance for all. Since then, hundreds of hospitals are no longer in service due to bankruptcy. Where do the sick go to use their health insurance to obtain health care?

Socialized medicine will also kill prescription drugs. Price controls on drugs will stop the development of all drugs. It is appropriate for drug companies to charge high prices for new drugs because they are costly to develop, test and produce. The drug companies spend tons of money trying to develop new drugs that in the end don't pan out. These costs must be recovered too. Now in a Communist country can you find the development of new drugs? What has Communist China given us in the way of vaccines or drugs to combat the virus they gave us.

Italy's death rate per million is 136. US's death rate per million is 4. I calculate 34 times the death rate per capita, #3. I calculate that Italy has five times as many cases per capita as the US, but we are not at the same stage of the epidemic in each country.

Italian death rate up to 151/million. US at 4 per million. 38 times our death rate? What the heck is going on there?
There will be some major investigations after this mess is over. I wonder if the truth, when found, will be politically permitted to be released?
