Vice President Mike Pence praised the private sector in the United States at the daily briefing at the White House on Tuesday for stepping up to the plate to help the country beat the coronavirus outbreak, including more support for truckers who are preserving the country’s supply chain during the coronavirus outbreak. This includes McDonalds, the American fast food icon, which has set up curbside service at its franchises so that truck drivers can get a meal on the go. “In fact, we see industry stepping up,” Pence said. “The president mentioned Ford Motor Company working to expand production of medical supplies.” “We heard that McDonalds is now offering curbs delivery to truckers

I guess sometimes it takes a catastrophe to remind people that the American Spirit is one of resourcefulness and kindness. This is truly the story of America; not the boomer greedy - millennial lazy story that the press uses to divide this country.

Trump has released the private sector from the chains of federal regulations. He is encouraging their ingenuity and resourcefulness. He is smashing the barricades that have kept them penned. This is the America the Obamanation thought they had subdued. Not so, only waiting...waiting for someone that loved America, maybe a business man, that would govern based upon our true foundations and ideals. God heard our prayers. A resurgent, strong America is the commie's nightmare. They'll be screaming for a long time. MAGA:KAG

Comedian Kathy Griffin continued to dramatize her stint at a hospital coronavirus isolation ward despite being sent home with an abdominal infection. Griffin bashed the Trump administration when she revealed she was in a hospital Wednesday but could not get tested for COVID-19 “because of CDC (Pence task force) restrictions.” Though the 59-year-old entertainer showed none of the coronavirus symptoms and was sent home with a different diagnosis, she took to Twitter to claim she “still has no idea” whether she tested positive or negative for the virus. In a series of tweets Thursday, Griffin quoted from a Los Angeles Times article on her experience,

After a shocking turnaround in his campaign — he was nearly left for dead after his crushing defeat in New Hampshire, only to become the presumptive nominee after Super Tuesday — Joe Biden was ready to pivot to a general election campaign against President Trump. But then the coronavirus hit the United States, and the ex-veep’s campaign has struggled mightily to deal with the political fallout. Trump has dominated the news cycles over the last three weeks, and his administration has been a whirling dervish of activity. He and his team offer daily reports about N95 masks secured, ventilators procured, production capacities increased,

A stockpile of 1.5 million expired N95 respirator masks belonging to the US Customs and Border Protection agency is expected to be deployed to the Transportation Security Administration to aid its underequipped workforce, a report said. Officials with the Department of Homeland Security decided to deliver the supply of protective masks to the TSA on a Wednesday conference call, sources told The Washington Post. The masks have been sitting inside an Indiana warehouse, the report said. While they are past their expiration date, a White House official told the paper that they still function properly. “The masks are fully capable,” the official said.

A German cathedral has dug out from a treasure chamber its collection of remains of St. Corona, the little-known Christian martyr who has been purported to be the patron saint of resisting epidemics. The Aachen Cathedral had already been planning before the coronavirus outbreak to showcase the remains and an elaborate shrine to the saint as part of an exhibit of gold craftsmanship, according to Reuters. But it has now accelerated its plans after the pandemic began sweeping across the globe — though it remains unclear when people will be able to visit the display amid strict restrictions on public gatherings. “We have brought the shrine out a bit earlier than planned

MLB team jerseys are being made into a million protective masks to support medical workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. The announcement was made on Thursday by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and Fanatics mogul Michael Rubin, whose apparel company makes jerseys for the league. Rubin’s Fanatics brand is the licensed apparel partner of all major sports leagues. It makes the MLB jerseys in a 360,000-square-foot plant in Easton, Pennsylvania. He posted on Instagram of the idea to create the masks from the same material as the authentic baseball gear:

On Tuesday, President Trump, Vice President Pence, Deborah Birx, and Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome Adams sat down for a Fox News virtual town hall. It was the most-watched town hall in cable news history, with around 4.4 million viewers. Americans are obviously hungry to hear information directly from those people who will make decisions about how our country approaches the coronavirus situation. In addition to the town hall, President Trump has been making himself and his team available every day for press conferences. While the President is always going to be Trump-esque, he’s learned the virtue of gracefully stepping aside so that the experts can speak directly to the public.

Donald Trump plays a different game of chess. He thinks several moves ahead, as any chess master would, but he also plays multiple games simultaneously. He contends with a confrontational media, an insatiable Democratic House leadership, and ill prepared state government–managed health care facilities. Trump would be amazed should he get true bipartisan support in his effort to stem the coronavirus crisis. Trump chose to express his desire for a return to normal. He hoped America could reopen by Easter. The media immediately rushed to condemn him. But when his tweet Sunday evening was sent out,

Coronavirus is frightening. I'm working from home, practicing "social distancing." Experts say it'll help "flatten the curve" so fewer people will be infected simultaneously. Then hospitals won't be overwhelmed. But the infection rate grows. Doctors and hospitals may yet be overwhelmed. It didn't have to get to this point. Coronavirus deaths leveled off in South Korea. That's because people in Korea could easily find out if they had the disease. There are hundreds of testing locations -- even pop-up drive-thru testing centers. Because Koreans got tested, Korean doctors knew who needed to be isolated and who didn't. As a result, Korea limited the disease without mass quarantines and shortages.

COVID-19—is there anything the coronavirus can’t do? Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) seem to think it should make the feds tell the states how to run their elections. They’ve introduced a bill that would do just that. S. 3529, the “Natural Disaster and Emergency Ballot Act of 2020” is aptly named because it could bring an electoral disaster in November. Not only is it unnecessary, but it would also make it easier to fiddle with election results. Under our Constitution, Congress sets the time, place, and manner of federal elections, but it is the states and particularly county governments that actually administer the elections. Our Founders designed this structure

As the Senate moved toward passing a $2 trillion stimulus package on Wednesday, Republican senators held a press conference to warn against passing the bill as written, noting that unemployment benefits would create an incentive for workers to leave their jobs. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) threatened to block the bill unless the Republicans drop these "anti-worker objections." "This drafting error made me pause for a moment," Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said, referring to the provision that unemployed workers should be paid $600 in addition to normal unemployment payments. "We cannot encourage people to make more money in unemployment than they do in employment."

Undocumented workers have long filled thousands of jobs in Massachusetts on construction sites, in restaurant kitchens and on cleaning crews. One of the cornerstones of the Senate coronavirus stimulus package is the direct payment of money from the federal government to American individuals and families. In the middle of the bill's hundreds of pages are details regarding exactly who can expect to receive money and how much they can expect. Here is a breakdown. Who is eligible? The bill makes clear that everyone is eligible except for nonresident aliens and those who can be used as the basis for deductions for another person. "Seniors, veterans, the unemployed and low-income Americans would be eligible too," Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Wednesday.

Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, who created the highly-cited Imperial College London coronavirus model, which has been cited by organizations like The New York Times and has been instrumental in governmental policy decision-making, offered a massive revision to his model on Wednesday. Ferguson’s model projected 2.2 million dead people in the United States and 500,000 in the U.K. from COVID-19 if no action were taken to slow the virus and blunt its curve. Ferguson thus dropped his prediction from 500,000 dead to 20,000.

President Trump pushed back at CBS reporter Paula Reid on Wednesday when she pushed the usual "nonpartisan experts say you're all wrong" line on him. Dale didn't check any facts, lamely noticing that Trump can't have any rallies, but he repeats his catch phrases like "big beautiful wall." Thanks, genius. Then Wolf Blitzer turned to Borger to lament the attack on those Nonpartisan Journalists. (Video)

The White House criticized Wednesday the Seattle-area NPR station’s recent decision to stop airing the coronavirus task force press briefings. “It’s not surprising, but also a failure of their duty to the American people, that some media outlets would choose to block their audiences from receiving accurate, up-to-date information on President Trump’s whole-of-government approach to slowing the spread of COVID-19,” White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere told Daily Caller. (snip) KUOW, the NPR station broadcasting across Washington’s Puget Sound, announced Tuesday night that they “will not be airing the briefings live due to a pattern of false or misleading information that cannot be fact checked in real time.”

The Trump administration, state officials and even individual hospital workers are now racing against each other to get the necessary masks, gloves and other safety equipment to fight coronavirus — a scramble that hospitals and doctors say has come too late and left them at risk. But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago.
