Cuomo says Senate's $2 trillion coronavirus
bill would be 'terrible' for New York

The Senate's $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill may be the largest rescue package in U.S. history, but it doesn't provide nearly enough for New York state, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday. The bill, tentatively approved early Wednesday, "would really be terrible for the state of New York," Cuomo said at his daily briefing in Albany. Cuomo's criticism came as White House officials made clear that President Donald Trump plans to sign the massive relief bill into law as soon as Congress sends it to him.

Comments:

If he wants to be President, he should understand there are 49 other states.

Maybe a little less spent on abortions and facilitating illegal immigrants would free up cash for this crisis? Maybe allowing fracking for natural gas production would bring in some money?

This is simply talking points they are going to use against Trump during the campaign. All co-ordinated in advance last week-end when piglooser tried to add funding for every single left-wing cause they could come up with. Pretty sure Cuomo will be the chosen one instead of Biden.

If Cuomo took better care of his citizens and didn't fritter away money on abortion and every social justice warrior program, he might have enough in the state coffers to take care of New Yorkers without worrying about having to share with 49 other states. He seems to be upset that people in Wyoming and Mississippi don't see the wisdom in treating New York like it is the most important place on the planet.

US industry now is at full capacity manufacturing face masks and have voluntarily agreed to move ahead 100%, so what more could US industry do if President Trump ordered them to operate their factories at full capacity making masks. This is a bogus liberal Democrat created controversy. The problem is that New York State was completely unprepared for this corona virus pandemic and Governor Cuomo is trying to now pass off the blame off on President Trump. But Cuomo has been in office long before Trump was elected. On top of that, Cuomo and New York were offered the opportunity to purchase, during the Obama years, 16,000 hospital ventilators with which to treat patients during an emergency, and Cuomo and New York turned down that offer. Since Trump was elected Cuomo has refused to render any assistance to the Federal Government when it comes to the effective enforcement of the immigration laws, and has advocated the Democrat created "Sanctuary Cities" concept and "open borders" and most recently has even refused to grant federal immigration officers access to New York driver's license files. The result of all that, most that has been going on for many years, have encouraged millions of illegal aliens from all over the world to come and stay in New York, mainly New York City, an unlawful process that has helped make the city so hugely population dense a place, creating a situation that has made it easy for the corona virus to spread throughout that city. Now huge numbers of those illegal aliens, probably about half working "under the table" in low wage jobs will be laid off from work, along with others who have obtained bogus or fraudulent social security numbers, or the social security numbers issued to other people. Once those illegal aliens no longer have jobs what will they do, as they are not eligible for assistance under the coming federal relief programs. While some will stay put in New York relying on relatives for support or will fraudulently seek to obtain federal assistance, others will leave New York and look for jobs in other parts of the USA, or will return to their home countries, many of them carrying the corona virus with them. The federal government is not large enough and does not have the capability to take care of the medically related needs of every State, as New York is now finding out, that they in many respects will have to take care of themselves.

Cuomo acts like nothing is being done by the Federal Government or Trump Admin on the one hand while accepting government handouts and assistance with the other! Cuomo always brags that New York is the financial engine of the country and gives a lot of money to all the other states. Cuomo also routinely berates any kind of Federal government action when it comes to illegal immigration and refuses to cooperate as he runs a "Sanctuary State". Since New York is such a big money maker, they should be able to pay for a lot of their own problems. The Feds can help but they can not make up for all of a states short falls. Cuomo / New York shunned Federal involvement before, now they are crying for it. To make matters worse, Cuomo is publically calling on the President to do things that he has already done or is already being done by private industry.

Please explain why this bill would be so terrible for New York. Since New York is the main arrival point for most flights arriving from Europe, it's not surprising that half the cases of this virus are now in New York. From JFK airport, those arriving from Europe then fan out to destinations all over the country. Thus spreading the virus to all parts of the country.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.
