Crises have a way of sorting out the good people, ideas, and institutions from the bad, and as the Wuhan virus spreads throughout the world, the sorting process is made easier. The decision to close our borders to China, criticized by the WHO, the left, and media as “racist,” has proven to be essential, and the bien pensant governments around the world are now following suit, shutting down their borders to aid in containment.
For those who wonder why this variety of flu depends on our isolating ourselves for a while until we can contain it, my young friend and scientist, Lauren Ancel Meyer, explains:

Bam!!! You go Clarice. Note to Lucianne staff. Clarice should be in the must reads every Sunday, even if you have to find and post it yourselves.
"A shortage, by the way, made worse by the actions of New York governor Cuomo." She has links to this in her article. I highly recommend you read it as it specifically points out the dangers of government (i.e. the State of New York) taking over production of vital products and banning the private production there of. Very interesting.

Golden nugget, FTA: Another lesson of this ongoing crisis -- in addition to the need for U.S. domestic production of some key medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, even greater skepticism about the VERACITY, competence, and AGENDAS of media, and reexamination of the gospel of globalization and open borders -- is greater appreciation of muscular labor and those who feed us, protect us, give us energy, and clean up after us, and who cannot afford to stay home, and whom America cannot afford that they might.
Bold case my addition.

A comment posted at the end of the Feldman column:
One note about distilleries redirecting their alcohol production into making hand sanitizers. If we really want to increase production of sanitizers why not repurpose some of the ethanol currently being mixed in our gasoline to the production of hand sanitizer. Since the US produces millions of gallons of corn ethanol daily it seems that only a small percentage of that stream would be needed. We could all be swimming in sanitizer and our gasoline would be marginally better with less alcohol in it.

FTA: ''Plaquinel is produced by Teva, an Israeli company which will donate six million tablets through wholesalers to hospitals around the country by the end of the month and more than 10 million tablets within a month.''
Makes me wonder if that Tlib (sp) hag were to catch the Chinese virus, would she take these drugs to save her own life since they're from the Joooos?

"The mainstream media is almost entirely discounted as a source of reliable news and is reduced to posing ignorantly framed gotcha questions at the conclusions of transparent first-class White House briefings."
Ah, the silver lining. The media is exposed as dysfunctional and proves it with their dopey attempts to "gotcha" Trump. Even better, they know it and it is driving them crazy. They have NO narrative control. Madcow demanding Trump not be covered nightly is a perfect example. She claims that the effectiveness of Hydroxychloroquine is a gross lie. Will there be consequences for her when it is proven effective? Has she harmed the public by false claims? Who is SHE to demand anything?
There is going to be a bunch of Leftist dogma eviscerated by the realities of this virus; like plastic bag bans, uncontrolled immigration, etc. Following the emergency will be a good time to start disassembly of specific stupidity and making the case that, en masse, the Left has bad ideas that have severe costs, personally and monetarily.

A note to President Xi and China -
"At this point, I don't even care why you felt it necessary to be testing biological warfare agents at your facility in Wuhan or who you acquired the virus from. Being the closed communist nation you are, I could not expect an open and honest answer anyway. Just the expected radio silence and coverup. Like Russia did during the Chernobyl crisis. Meanwhile, get rid of that {fill in the blank} lab and the biological agents you have inside of it. And when can we expect to receive your $2 trillion payment for our costs of responding to your carelessness and negligence."

Further @ # 7- In addition to that point it should be noted that ethanol is even less important as a fuel source. Other than the fact that gasoline is purported to be $1 per gallon soon, that 'additive' does not increase mileage, is a known pollutant and is harmful to many types of combustion engines. Ask any boat owner.

Well written commentary, as expected. The more that dem politicians and the media attack Donald Trump, the better he looks. The virus is yet another cloud with a silver lining. The only change I would like to see is a diversion of the funds for the wall on the Mexican border to build one around New York, California and the state of Washington, who continue to plunder along under their own stupidity.

I am glad she mentions the "delivery economy" as many people here in Nashville who are out of work have moved to this business and it is booming. It is another example of capitalism meeting a demand.
I have been using grocery and food delivery for a while (I started many years ago when dh travelled for business and I had a toddler at home) and we have been using it extensively during this crisis. We can continue to support our local restaurants and businesses and thus our community.

She points out that "the numbers" from China may be suspect. IMO, they are pure propaganda, zero relationship to the facts in Wuhan, or elsewhere in China. Anyone using Chinese 'data' on this is fooling themselves. It is fake, no doubt.

If only the suggestion that people like Nancy Pelosi be strung up by the thumbs could become a possibility. Other than that, America is fortunate indeed that most of us who are governed by the political class are Adults first, Americans next, and Family protectors next. The mainstream media is a really bad and tasteless JOKE. So are most local politicians. That leaves us adults to fend for ourselves and we are wholly able to do that. Grant us oh Lord a blessing for our country.

Past administration of my town banned plastic bags. They were voted out. Current conservative mayor and town council has suspended the ban. Seems that what we the people knew all along about reusables being dirty was fact.
