California Gov. Newsom issues order
for entire state to stay at home due to
coronavirus

Original Article

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) issued an order for all 40 million Californians to stay at home Thursday night due to the coronavirus outbreak. “This is not a permanent state, this is a moment in time,” Newsom said in a news conference. “We will look back at these decisions as pivotal. The directive goes into effect Thursday evening. Those found violating the law could be fined up to $1,000.

Comments:

Not sure how they expect to enforce this. What does "stay at home" mean if you live on the streets? Hang out in the same doorway?

Now he can brag to his fellow Democrat governors that he imposed the most draconian violation of his citizens’ Constitutional rights. Does he now expect the local police to head into LA’s worst neighborhoods and arrest those who do not comply? And how does the stay at home order apply to California’s vast homeless populations?

He shrewdly set this up. First he sends Trump a letter stating that 25 million Californians will get the virus in the next 8 weeks, an absurd figure that didn’t even take into account any of the current mitigation efforts in effect. Then a few hours later he closes down the whole state. Now when the infections fall well short of 25 million, he can claim his decisive action saved us all. Of course the infected count is going up, we’re doing a lot more testing. As the data improves, the mortality rate is dropping. We are destroying the whole economy, peoples’ livelihoods, life savings and businesses for something that is no more deadly than the flu. Life is not risk free, never has been, never will be. Seeking to eliminate all risk regardless of cost is absurd and will be devastating. Stop the insanity.

They let the homeless take over the streets and the illegal immigrants run all over them and now they have to deal with the problems they created. I don't think anyone is rushing to move to California anymore except maybe those two idiots from England who want to be important too.

The democrats will gladly destroy the economy if it means they have a chance to defeat President Trump. This is going to backfire on these fools because Americans are not stupid and we can see clearly what is driving all this. We know who is leading and who is running around like Chicken Little. None if this is aimed at protecting us. The contagion numbers will be the same, no matter what, according to the model that the medical and political establishment are implementing, which, by the way, is based on the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918. These measures are about protecting the medical community, so that they do not become overwhelmed. That’s it. That’s all these measures are for. You can argue that therefore these measures do ultimately benefit all of us, but I don’t know If I would agree with that. If this was Ebola, yes. This virus? No.

Up here in rural northern California we seem to being doing well. I had a Dr. appt. yesterday down in our County Seat, 40 miles south. The traffic on Hwy 101 was lighter than usual, but still lots of people traveling. Town traffic was light and that made getting around easier. On the way home I stopped at our local town for gas and post office, plenty of people running errands. I saw lots of people walking their dogs and a young family having a picnic in the park. Older folks were wearing face masks. Everyone I encountered was in an up-beat, "we'll get through this" attitude. I have a 91-year-old friend in an assisted living down in the County Seat and my one day a month down there I visit her, so yesterday I was going to call her. (My cell does not work from home.) My phone could not connect. I got worried and drove over to her assisted living. It turned out to be quite fun...we visited through the front windows of the place for about 5 minutes. No one is sick or symptomatic in her facility and they plan on keeping that way. She's an FDR democrat and has been uneasy about President Trump. Yesterday she said "Trump is doing a fantastic job!" We also have a summer neighbor, a widow in her late 70's, that lives in S.F. She called TK for advice and he encouraged her to get out of the city and come up here. We expect her today. Another elderly couple in town, the husband with advanced diabetes, reported three different younger neighbors have stopped by and offered to do their errands and grocery shopping for them. Rural people pull together. I see many benefits arising from this crisis.

Depends on where you have chosen to live in this beautiful area of God’s creation... Just walked pup, it’s 7:33 am here, there are geese walking the other way, several swimming in the lake across the street, and later this morning pup and I will walk to our beach, 2 blocks down... If I needed anything at Whole Foods, they are open early for folks over 55, and there are many retirees here and nearby Carmel and Carmel Valley, who perhaps taught at Naval Postgraduate School who then stayed, or came back to retire here... Stone Creek Kitchen, a lovely upscale cooking school makes fresh entrees every morning, and awesome sandwiches, where many first responders and doctors’ offices are nearby and get yummy food to go, as well as restaurants on the wharf here closer to town, even bringing food curbside for folks if necessary... Yes, it’s an inconvenience to not go to church, but as my pastor said via web last Sunday, we have had a fight between good and evil since Genesis, and this Wuhan Virus is evil from an evil country, but we know the “end of the story” as Scripture is quite clear... “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him would not perish but have eternal life,” John 3:16... So keep looking up folks, and check on your neighbor and family often... We can go any place necessary, even parks and we have many magnificent ones as a family, and even though CA has been one of three states most hard hit, it’s the major cities so pray for those folks... God is still sovereign! KAG

All but essential movement and work is forbidden? Who is not essential? The tow truck operators who will clear stalls and wrecks from the roads? The gas station owners? The ones who transport fuel? The clothier who offers non-essential clothing items, like underwear? (facetious) The janitors, who keep our facilities from becoming vermin-ridden garbage piles? The maids who clean the houses of people who aren't in need of a nursing home, but can't lug a vacuum around or reach all the dusty places? The economy has evolved to support our way of life, which is why it is so resilient. If it were an artificial creation it would repeatedly collapse. Of course, the Dems have never understood that the economic engine is essential. Shutting the economic activity down is similar to strangling our society. This move is liable to bankrupt any business that our keepers have deemed non-essential. As the Dems shut down the capitalist system, the resulting unemployed will join the welfare rolls, and we'll have ourselves an embryonic Socialist state.

Gas stations, grocery stores and banks are open. Apparently food, fuel and money are essential. You can still get your daily retail fix at Walmart. If you want to brave the walking dead shuffling through the stores coughing into the air as if no communicable diseases exist. (Who should be arrested on public health charges in normal times in my opinion) You may and are encouraged to take walks outside, there are neighbors out walking with their kids who have not been outside in months except to get in their cars. It is sunny and in the mid 60s in California today. Many people are working from home skipping their daily hour+ commutes in heavy traffic. (It will be hard to convince them to come back to the office when it is declared safe to do so.) According to a friend in San Francisco, the homeless are being taken care of by being housed in the now empty hotels. I am so glad I don't have an office downtown anymore. I don't even want to think about what the Union Square Westin or the Intercontinental are going to look like in a couple months. They were really nice places. (Actually, they may not use those since politicians stay there) Some of you enterprising folks may want to start a forensic cleaning service for whichever hotels they are using. So the coastal elite lunacy persists and the green dream of shutting down car travel is being realized. Violation is a misdemeanor. Preceded by a warning. So for the rest of you outside of Cali, save eastern California. Ask your elected Federal officials to turn Los Angeles and the San Francisco bay area into self governing US territories with no participation in Federal elections (with nice Trump walls around them) and then we can all safely watch liberal brilliance put into practice and play itself out. And the democrats lose 55 electoral votes.

This whole situation is wrong on so many levels. Telling everyone to stay home is going to cause major domestic violence, alcoholism (Specs sold out of beer …), crazy drug use, and is going to vastly increase the crime rate. Take the bazillion dollars and shore up the hospitals, build new hospitals, buy or make new respirators. Don't shut down the economy! Here is my simple plan... someone forward to someone like DJT 1. Mobilize the military and the private sector to set up new MASH units in or near every major city. Use all the $bazillions of dollars to support the health care system. 2. Use planes (not used anyway) to get sick people to where the hospitals are. 3. Conscript the doctors who do elective surgery and pay them $$$ to help out. 4. Conscript dentists and other medical professionals and teach them how to operate those respirator units (Most states have shut them down) 5. Tell all old people to stay away from everyone, including their kids and grandkids. 6. Give the younger people the anti-malaria drug to help them if they get sick (seems like it works) In fact, it might be a good idea to make sure all Americans get this drug if it can keep them out of the hospital. 7. Open up the schools. 8. Open up the restaurants and bars. 9. Let the virus run its course. After all, there's plenty of money to support the medical system instead of sending out $1000 checks to all Americans.

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. Noncitizens are obligated to identify themselves and opt out,

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
