The mayor of Baltimore is begging residents to stop shooting one another to allow doctors and nurses to focus on saving coronavirus patients and not gunshot wound victims. In a statement on Wednesday, the Mayor Jack Young said: 'I want to reiterate how completely unacceptable the level of violence is that we have seen recently. 'We will not stand for mass shootings and an increase in crime. 'For those of you who want to continue to shoot and kill people of this city, we’re not going to tolerate it. 'We’re going to come after you and we’re going to get you.

This situation is now heading toward utter absurdity. This story is quite hilarious and indicative of just how far parts of the country have fallen into blatant idiocy. My daughter-in-law works for a company contracted to state govt. and her job is to visit many homes per day and inspect them to ensure they are providing approved care for foster children. This is obviously a situation that opens her up for infection and then turn her into an agent to infect many others. Yet there is no mention from her superiors about suspending operations for a time. On the other hand my son has been sent home, with pay, for two weeks with the intention of lessening the chance of spread of this disease. Of course he works for a private business.

The most benighted, the most heavily Democrat, cities like Baltimore are places that most Americans wisely avoid. (But the son of a close friend is a doctor at Johns Hopkins because that's one of the best medical facilities in the world.) With one hundred per cent certainty one should say that seven shootings in one night in one city involve gangbangers. End of story. Gang members have no respect for life, and feel no remorse over killing others who are seen as adversaries, sometimes because they wear red in a Crips neighborhood or blue around the Bloods. Summary death penalty. Shoot up his car. Death is part of the game for feral youths who can't see themselves in middle age, let alone old age. They kill each other almost indiscriminately, but if you or I get in the way, we're gone, too. These people cannot be dissuaded from violence by passing more laws, especially useless gun control measures that make ordinary citizens less safe. Solve the gang problem and 80% of the country's murders will go away. I think it's really that bad. An answer to the problem would have to be radical, a doctrinaire libertarian's dream: legal drugs and prostitution, perhaps the only way to yank the rug from beneath these losers' feet. Or send the Army into every inner city. It'll be like Hue in '68. But what are we prepared to do?

Gang members are known for shooting. Good people can, when necessary, defend themselves against an imminent deadly threat. In South Philly last summer an armed robber with his hoodie up failed in his attempt to rob a MetroPCS store that had been robbed twice in recent weeks. The clerk, who had his permit and weapon, was ready the instant the bad guy turned slightly away from him. Sixteen rounds followed. Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Ruled a justifiable homicide with no charges brought against the defender, this entire sequence happened in twelve seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjEyn3v5_bI Too bad about the printer, though.

As COVID-19 spreads worldwide, experts have warned that people over the age of 60, along with those with preexisting health conditions—such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and chronic respiratory disease—are the most at risk. Air pollution, which has a bigger impact on lower income and non-white communities, is a major driver of the diseases mentioned above. According to one study, air pollution is responsible for an estimated 8 million early deaths per year. As a result of that health damage, respiratory infections

CNN commentator Chris Cuomo admonished President Trump for repeatedly calling the coronavirus "the Chinese virus." “Calling it the Chinese virus or the Wuhan virus or the Kung Flu. Listen, you may think it's clever, but it's hurting,” Cuomo said on his nightly show on Wednesday. “The idea, ‘Well, it did come from China.’ Then why doesn't Fauci and other top health officials, why don’t they call it that? You know why? Because it could have come from anywhere.” The virus, which has sparked a global pandemic, is believed to have originated in an animal market in Wuhan, China. Trump has said he uses the phrase "Chinese virus" for accuracy purposes.

The far right in America has received the coronavirus pandemic in much the same manner as any other event: with disinformation, conspiracies and scapegoating. Many seem to see it as a significant opportunity, whether it is for financial gain, recruiting new followers, or both. The delayed and much criticized response to coronavirus by the Trump administration has helped them, leaving many Americans confused, bereft of information and looking for answers. A situation in which people are panic-buying supplies is ideal for a movement powered by fear and lies.
