Why Can’t Liberals Do Arithmetic?

Who can forget the wonderful moment on MSNBC when Brian Williams and a guest from the New York Times Editorial Board assured us that Michael Bloomberg’s $500 million campaign spending worked out to $1 million for each one of the 327 million people in the United States? That was mind-numbingly stupid, but Bernie Sanders’ press secretary has equaled it, curiously with another 500 million mistake:(Snip for tweet) There are not 500 million Americans, let alone 500 million who go bankrupt each year, let alone 500 million who go bankrupt on account of medical expenses. It is hard to understand where Ms. Gray got her 500 million figure. The actual number

If liberals/government could actually do math it would be harder to sell their fact free narratives. Can you imagine Bernie getting up with carefully analyzed numbers? People would listen to him and think "WHY would I ever support anything so financially crazy?". It's much easier to promise government free stuff apparently whipped up by Aladdin's genie. Of course that also says something about the math abilities of Bernie Bros and may imply why they don't have their own "stuff" in the first place. Liz Warren was supposed to be their policy wonk with a plan for all seasons. She got pulled into the Medicare for All vortex. Since she has plans for everything, someone actually asked her what her plan to pay for it was. She soon came back with a plan filled in with fake math. Her campaign went downhill from there. BO promised that the average family would save $2500 on medical premiums with BOCare. He is still being pummeled about the head with that one. CBO, another government wonk group, cost estimates for proposed programs are notoriously below actual costs. No one would vote for things at their real costs so CBO provides them political cover with REAL fake numbers. Or is it fake REAL numbers? The federal government is supposed to create a budget and sometimes they actually do. However, most of the audits done of government spending cannot be completed because the tracking of that spending is in permanent abeyance. We have no good idea of where the money is going. Maybe we should reduce the budget of each department to the actual auditable expenditures? If it can't be audited, we shouldn't be paying for it. These people don't WANT us to see the math.

No 2 has it correct. The Dims have made an art form of speaking with authority and accompanying arm-hand gesturing. When they throw out numbers (“there are 100 million Americans without health care!!!”) the average person assumes the numbers are true. (After all, these politicians are important, they have information the plebes fo not have, and they KNOW what the figures are.) The media, knowing or unknowing their falsity of the claims, dutifully transcribe their words and off we go. Until these loony goons are challenged on their facts, their “math” will always be faulty (or fake). It’s all, and only, about power.

When there are no consequences of being wrong there is no incentive to be correct. When your position among the ruling elite is secure and you have no experience outside of that bubble you are deprived of the learning process it takes to be correct and the development of the good instincts to know when things are off by a wide margin. I made a whopping error on a Thermodynamics exam Junior year and the professor made an example of me. He had me stand up and read the note I wrote him next to my errant result. It said something to the effect that I know my answer made no sense, had to be wrong but I spent enough time looking for my mistake and needed to move on to the other problems. His point was that I'd eventually have found the stupid math error (he did) and demonstrated a firm grasp on the process so I got just a minor deduction. He went on to say that knowing when an answer can't be right is one of the most important lessons to learn. When you are right about everything no matter how wrong you are it isn't likely that your boo boo detector will function at a high level. The left live in a world, are educated in a world, where following the theology assures you are correct and you need not think for yourself. It should come as no shock that they can't think.

some looney left lies are worse than others. here are those lies I consider the worst of the lot. Dollar Bill Clinton, during the 1992 presidential campaign, said 'if we have one standard claim form for health insurance for all insurance companies, the savings generated will be great enough to provide universal health care.' dirty Donna Shalala, at her 1993 HHS confirmation hearing - AIDS is going to kill every one of us. Cherokee Lizzie, 2020 presidential campaign, 'Two cents! Just two cents imposed on wealthiest Americans will pay for free college, universal child care, extinguish all student loans, and provide medicare for all.' Crazy Bernie, 2020 - 'underinsured americans are filing bankruptcy because of medical debts.' he seems to be referencing those Americans who purchased Obolacare, bronze plans with the help of government paid 'navigators' and wound up with huge deductibles. and of course, the Barack Obola big lies about keeping your doctor, keeping your health plan. lies, lies, lies. (I'm skipping over Old Jo Biden's lies, because I don't consider him to be mentally competent.)

Sadly (for the rest of us), it's a birth defect...liberals are born without the Math gene. RINOs, by comparison, are born with it, but when they become politicians they go through a Matherectomy so the crazy spending bills they agree to won't bother their consciences. Together, they will (and are) driving us into certain bankruptcy.

Two reasons, intertwined. Innumeracy is a very real thing. And the numbers get in the way of their power dreams, so they just fake it. And their innumeracy makes them think that the rest of us can't calculate that they are very obviously faking it.

Liberal Leftist Loons are accustomed to spouting their lies, errors and nonsense, having it parroted faithfully by the media and expecting their low IQ followers to believe it without question. This practice is what knocked Liawatha out of the race and several others. So far, Bernie has been getting away with much of his communist babble because he avoids quoting numbers and just lays out the alluring meat of his insanity. Fortunately, Bernie Bros are the dimmest bulbs in the house. Biden's gaffes, to his benefit, are ignored completely.

Americans could get a check for $1,000 or more in the coming weeks, as political leaders coalesce around a dramatic plan to try to prevent a worse recession and protect people from going bankrupt. The idea took off Monday when Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called for every American adult to receive a $1,000 check “immediately” to help tide people over until other government aid can arrive. By Tuesday, there was bipartisan support for the idea, including from President Trump. The White House even suggested the amount could be over $1,000, an acknowledgment of how big the economic crisis is becoming.

In 1962, director John Frankenheimer released his classic film, The Manchurian Candidate. While the film is a precursor to future paranoid political films such as Robert Redford’s Three Days of the Condor and Oliver Stone’s JFK, The Manchurian Candidate plays more like a Hitchcock thriller, but its subtext is made clear when a Democratic Senator based on Adlai Stevenson visits a cocktail party put on by Eleanor Shaw Iselin (played by Angela Lansbury) as a precursor to a presidential bid by her husband, a parody of Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy named John Iselin.

In many ways, the debate will vary from all others held since last summer. Instead of a large and diverse field of candidates, only two old, white men remain. And instead of testing their styles and one-liners in front of a crowd, this meeting will lack an audience. With so much stripped away, the candidates will either shine or fail. At this moment, it seems that the nomination is former Vice President Joe Biden's to lose.

Democratic debates in times of coronavirus make for even less interesting television than during normal times, whatever that means in the Trump era. In Sunday night’s debate, Bernie Sanders had a double task. For the believers, to make a last pitch that he is the better candidate (which, in terms of the presidency, he clearly is). For the realists, his task was to push the inevitable nominee, Joe Biden, more to the left. He probably achieved neither, as Biden stole the show, by announcing (cleverly) that he will pick a female vice-presidential candidate, a progressive weak point of Sanders (who
