The Fight Against Socialism Isn’t Over

Democrats are breathing a sigh of relief. Joe Biden's victories on "Mini Tuesday" make his delegate lead all but insurmountable. Bernie Sanders's electoral weakness, compared with his performance four years ago, has dulled the fear of an incipient socialist takeover of the world's oldest political party. The left is said to have talked itself into believing its own propaganda and helped President Trump equate Democrats with socialism. Victory in the primary did not come from pledges to eliminate private health insurance or impose wealth taxes. It followed from the perception that Biden is the candidate best able to defeat Trump.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Democrats are leftists and leftists are democrats. What can Biden do but continue to push socialism by other names? He can't be a mini-Trump, even though his plan for dealing with the CV is Trump lite. Where does a clown like Biden go to become President? What Biden will the handlers, the comrade media, and the rat party manufacture?

"The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground. .... "-----Thomas Jefferson This is so much more than socialism, we are up against human nature. What Marx did was re-brand the ancient practice of totalitarian rule and provided it with a phenomenal marketing approach to sell it to the common peasants. Marxism lives on because human nature lives on. What out founders did was study human nature, the history of abuse of the common man, and handed us the best defense ever devised by humankind against being abused. We have been gradually letting that slip away as Jefferson noted to be the natural progress.

The COVID-19 outbreak is giving new meaning to those “sustainable” shopping bags that politicians and environmentalists have been so eager to impose on the public. These reusable tote bags can sustain the COVID-19 and flu viruses—and spread the viruses throughout the store. Researchers have been warning for years about the risks of these bags spreading deadly viral and bacterial diseases, but public officials have ignored their concerns, determined to eliminate single-use bags and other plastic products despite their obvious advantages in reducing the spread of pathogens. In New York State, a new law took effect this month banning single-use plastic bags in most retail businesses, and this week

Never let it be said that Bernie Sanders isn't doing his level best to spread fear and panic across America. At a doom-and-gloom press conference today, Sanders pleaded with Trump to pay for everyone to be tested for COVID-19, demanded paid leave for all, and generally transplanted his political agenda onto the coronavirus response that the U.S. should make. How convenient. But most of all, Sanders is telling Americans that they are in grave danger because the president has fallen down on the job. And the ultimate cost of Trump's incompetence will be hundreds of thousands of dead.

For Sarah Palin, it has been a long, strange trip. I have always been a fan of hers. She did a terrific job as a citizen activist in Alaska, and then as governor. I thought she acquitted herself well as a vice presidential candidate; among other things, she thrashed Joe Biden in their vice presidential debate. And that was when Biden was in full possession of his (admittedly meager) faculties. But then she went show biz. When she resigned, needlessly, as governor, I wrote here that whatever shot she had to be a presidential contender was gone. Commenters blasted me

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced Wednesday that more than 600 arrests have been made as a result of an interagency operation cracking down on Mexican cartel activity. “Project Python,” a DEA-led initiative, targeted members of Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). According to the DEA, over the last six months federal law enforcement officials have been monitoring the activities of the accused. The operation resulted in more than 600 arrests nationwide, 350 indictments and “significant seizures of money and drugs,” according to the agencies.

On Thursday, Joe Biden slammed President Trump’s response to the coronavirus outbreak while speaking in Wilmington, Del., on Thursday afternoon. "The administration's failure on testing is colossal and it's a failure of leadership, planning, and execution," Biden said. “This virus laid bare the severe shortcomings of the current administration." Biden went on to suggest things that should have been done. And if you thought they sounded familiar, you’re right, because immediately after blaming Trump for not doing enough, Biden suggested things that have, in fact, already been done. Joe Biden said "no efforts should be spared" to get private labs and universities working to rapidly expand testing for coronavirus.

Joe Biden’s campaign has just completed one of the most remarkable turnarounds in political history. So how has Biden responded? By reshuffling his campaign team and picking a new campaign manager. The Washington Post reports: Former vice president Joe Biden has named Jen O’Malley Dillon as his new campaign manager, a major shake-up that comes just as the party’s leading candidate plans a major organizational expansion to prepare for the general election, according to a person familiar with the decision. The move is intended to quell concerns that have been raised in recent weeks by senior Democratic strategists about the leadership structure

The New York Times wants to teach your kids and grandkids to be woke. Don’t let them. Like most professional academics, I watched the launch of the New York Times’ “1619 Project” with a mix of genuine scholarly interest, an occasional desire to critique, and mild amusement at some of the authors’ wilder claims — such as Nikole Hannah-Jones arguing that the desire to preserve slavery was a “primary” reason for the American Revolutionary War or Kevin Kruse claiming that historical oppression “caused your traffic jam.” But, that said, I frankly expected to quickly forget the whole thing. It is an open secret in the creative community

Set aside Joe Biden’s weirdly aggressive response to the Detroit auto plant worker who challenged him on gun control policy at a campaign stop yesterday—Biden tells the guy, “you’re full of sh-t,” calls him a “horse’s ass,” and later threatens to slap him in the face—and consider instead how the blue-check media exulted in it. Instead of noting how Biden distorted his record, or that he was factually wrong on almost every particular about guns, pundits and reporters focused on the optics, on how great it was that Biden stood up to a random voter who dared to question him. Joe Biden is riding high on the headlines of his “spectacular comeback.” The same pundits who gave him up for dead last month now gush over him. But his success has less to do with his qualities than those of his opponents. He beat an exceedingly weak field. Just as Bernie Sanders reaped the benefits of the anti-Hillary vote in 2016, Biden benefited from the anti-Bernie vote in 2020. Biden didn’t even have to break a sweat against Bernie and company, such were their obvious weaknesses. Biden has largely avoided interviews and given short speeches, as his handlers keep him on a tight leash. Yet even with all this obvious handling,

Four years ago, Bernie Sanders put up a surprisingly strong fight against Hillary Clinton on the strength of his support among white working-class voters, who proceeded to desert Clinton in November. On the basis of those two elections, the left quickly formed a series of conclusions. The working class had become alienated by neoliberal economics and was searching for radical alternatives. Because the Democrats had failed to offer the kind of progressive radical alternative Sanders stood for, voters instead opted for Trump’s reactionary attack on globalism. In order to win them back and defeat Trump, Democrats needed to reorganize themselves as a radical populist party.

It seemed more like out of a movie than reality."

In October 2014, Ezekiel Emanuel published an essay in the Atlantic called “Why I Hope to Die at 75.” Because Emanuel is a medical doctor and chair of the University of Pennsylvania’s department of medical ethics and health policy, as well as a chief architect of Obamacare, the article stirred enormous controversy.Emanuel vowed to refuse not only heroic medical interventions once he turned 75, but also antibiotics and vaccinations. His argument: older Americans live too long in a diminished state, raising the question of, as he put it, “whether our consumption is worth our contribution.” (Snip)If you look at really smart people, there aren’t that many writing brand-new books

First of all, Wuhan is a place and not a race, and to identify the coronavirus by its place of origin, like naming the Ebola Virus for a river in Zaire, is not racist or xenophobic — it's merely accurate. There is no racism or xenophobia in labeling an infection "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever" or calling something "Lyme Disease" after a nearby town in Ohio. What calling this latest virus the Wuhan Virus is is a reminder of the multiple contagions China has spawned and released on an unsuspecting world.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio advocated for nationalizing certain industries to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. While appearing on MSNBC's AM Joy, host Joy Reid asked de Blasio how someone in New York City should go about getting tested during the growing COVID-19 pandemic. "People can get tested according to a priority structure, and it's not enough testing. It's just as simple as that," de Blasio said, later claiming that the city has been "pleading" with the federal government for additional testing. "Here's the reality. This is a war-like situation. We're in a wartime scenario with a 'Mar-a-Lago attitude' being used by the federal government, right?"

Andrew Gillum, the former Mayor of Tallahassee, was the Democrat candidate for governor in 2016. Ultimately Ron DeSantis won by almost 34,000 votes. Florida may have dodged a bullet. On Friday, Candace Owens published on Twitter photos of a police report in which Gillum figured prominently with a sordid tale of drugs and, possibly, a gay sex orgy. According to the police report, in the early hours of February 13, Miami Beach police responded to a possible overdose in a hotel room. When they arrived, they discovered three men: Travis Dyson, the man who overdosed; Aldo Mejias, who made the 911 call; and Andrew Gillum.

The man who wants to save America from coronavirus struggled mightily Friday evening with cameras, computers, and microphones. When Breitbart News tuned in, Illinois Sen. But four days later, his well-publicized effort to register a million voters ahead of Election Day was in major doubt, along with his once-promising political career. When he introduced a coronavirus plan that is merely a pale simulacrum of President Trump’s robust plans, Joe Biden announced that he would “lead by science.” That was obviously a jab at President Trump, one that ignored that Trump and Vice President Pence have surrounded themselves with America’s top medical and scientific researchers. When it comes to Biden's advisors, though, something disturbing is going on: At least one of the scientists advising Biden thinks old people ought to die. The worrisome advisor is Ezekiel Emanuel, Rahm Emanuel’s brother. He got a lot of attention in 2009 and 2010, because he was “a chief architect of that health care overhaul,
