President Donald Trump slammed and snubbed Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday with an announcement he won't attend the annual St. Patrick's Day lunch in the Capitol this Thursday. It's the first time a president has skipped the traditional, non-partisan luncheon since George W. Bush missed it in 2003, shortly before the United States invaded Iraq. The luncheon - formally called the Friends of Ireland Luncheon - is hosted by the Speaker of the House, who is Pelosi, and honors the taoiseach of Ireland.

Comments:

Pelosi was rude to Trump last year and he'll skip her party this year. Actions have consequences

Bravo, Mr. President! Speaker Pelosi’s spokesman, Drew Hammill, issued a statement criticizing President Trump’s decision to decline attending the St. Patrick’s Day luncheon that read, “One would think that the White House could set petty, partisan politics aside for this historic occasion.” Tearing a nation apart by Speaker Pelosi and her Democrat party’s unrelenting, contemptible partisan politics is by no means “petty.” It is an egregious affront to President Trump, his family, patriotic “Deplorables,” and all that is decent and honorable in a civilized society. Lest anyone forget Speaker Pelosi’s “petty,” childish behavior with facial expressions and tearing up her copy of President Trump’s State of the Union speech. President Trump’s work ethic, patriotism, and Christian values can never be considered “petty.”

The Democrat's statement came days after Gillum was named in a South Florida police report Friday that said he was 'inebriated' and initially unresponsive in a hotel room along with two male companions, Travis Dyson, 30, and Aldo Mejias, 56, where authorities found baggies of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

You probably haven’t heard about the sixteen-year-old girl who got murdered by five other kids early last Monday afternoon on a quiet little street in the quiet little town of Biloxi, Mississippi. If the circumstances had been altered slightly, it would be the only news story you’d heard about all week. You’d also continue to hear about it for years. Madison Harris, 16, had been living at her paternal grandmother’s house since her parents were divorced four years ago.

Mike Bloomberg is considering making Hillary Clinton his running mate, a source close to his campaign has told Drudge Report. Polling found the Bloomberg-Clinton combination would be a formidable force to take on Trump in the race for the White House, the source said. Former New York City Mayor and Democratic candidate Bloomberg is said to be considering even changing his official residence from New York to Colorado or Florida - where he also has homes - because the electoral college makes it difficult for US president and vice-president to reside in the same state.

Brexit goes through today, and Britain is finally independent, free from the clutches of the European Union. It's a great event regardless of how it happens, but in this case, it was cool beyond description. It all ended with a pretty amazing flourish, one that told us a lot about both the European Commission and newly sovereign Britain itself. Chief Brexiteer Nigel Farage made his last speech before the European Commission, which was a great scolding and call to shut down the whole operation altogether, which was subversive enough. But he drove it even further.

What an explosive week this has been in the aftermath of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell announcement that they wish to ‘step back’ as senior royals. I share much of the anger, frustration and sorrow of the British public at their decision, which has been much-discussed over the past few days.  But there is one aspect of this drama that concerns and saddens me: the behaviour of Prince Harry, and what appears to be him turning his back on the Royal Family.  This is so out of character, and — as his biographer who knows him better than many — I fear something is seriously amiss.

A friend tweeted from Ireland (in time for St. Patrick’s Day), blaming President Trump for the major decline in the value of stocks. This same friend credited Barack Obama’s economic policies when the Dow Jones Industrial Averages approached 30,000. This — and more — is part of our political, economic and medical divide with mixed messages coming from supposed professionals, amateurs and people who don’t know what they are talking about. According to Dictionary.com, “panic” is “a sudden overwhelming fear, with or without cause, that produces hysterical or irrational behavior, and that often spreads quickly through a group of persons or animals.”

Democratic debates in times of coronavirus make for even less interesting television than during normal times, whatever that means in the Trump era. In Sunday night’s debate, Bernie Sanders had a double task. For the believers, to make a last pitch that he is the better candidate (which, in terms of the presidency, he clearly is). For the realists, his task was to push the inevitable nominee, Joe Biden, more to the left. He probably achieved neither, as Biden stole the show, by announcing (cleverly) that he will pick a female vice-presidential candidate, a progressive weak point of Sanders (who

Her latest flight of NeverTrump nastiness has her speculate about possible Republican deaths during a time of coronavirus. Her speculation not only reveals an even further degradation of mind and soul, but she's got things entirely bass-ackwards wrong – and a couple of maps prove it.
