How to Measure the Temperature of the Earth

Original Article

Posted By: DVC, 3/3/2020 2:20:59 AM

As concerns man-made climate change: "The temperature of the Earth" is an ambiguous term that cannot mean anything. At any given time it is possible to measure the temperature of some very small part of the Earth, such as, perhaps, a shot glass of water. At that same moment, other temperatures of the Earth that could be measured will show a variation from the temperature of molten rock (1,300 to 2,200°F) to polar ice (32 to -76°F). Daily variation of the same place on Earth can be 50 to 60°F. Seasonal variation can be well over 100°F in high latitudes.

Comments:

Excellent points, many of them, made here.
I have often asked the simple question, of exactly what does "the temperature of the Earth" even MEAN? As he points out, it varies massively at the same point throughout a single day, and dramatically from place to place, even only 5 or 10 miles apart. How do you even DEFINE the term?
And his point about thermometers is excellent, too. I have two modern electronic thermometers at my cabin. One has a fading display, so has been replaced, but refuses to die, so they sit side by side, and vary by 2-3 degrees F, at various times during the day.
Their "science" is BS on the face of it, and then they lie, too.

And CO2 still makes up 0.0391% of the atmosphere--that is 4/10 tenths of 1 percent who don't comprehend numbers well. Water vapor ranges from near 0% to 4% and is a larger factor in temperature. Much of that water vapor is escaping from humans. I propose that the libs who are so concerned about global warming to stop breathing. How is that for a "scientific study"?

The Earth has a molten core with fissures running all over the surface. At any time it could blast open and spew molten lava AND "gasp" Greenhouse Gases! Such events HAVE happened over our history AND it will affect the "climate" for hundreds of years. So WHY do you think turning off all the cars and industries will mean ANYTHING to stop earth from belching?

"The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg didn't realize on Wednesday that the "Dr." in Dr. Jill Biden's title didn't represent a medical degree. After former Vice President Joe Biden's wins on Super Tuesday, Goldberg floated the candidate's wife for surgeon general. "I'm hoping Dr. Jill becomes the surgeon general ... she's a hell of a doctor. She's an amazing doctor," Goldberg said, as if she knew of the former second lady's medical expertise. After co-host Meghan McCain cast doubt on that, Goldberg said: "I could be wrong. I thought she was a PhD."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's progressive candidates did not have a “super” Tuesday in the first congressional primaries of the 2020 cycle. The Democratic establishment, on the other hand, could breathe a sigh of relief after three primary challengers from Texas and California underperformed in highly anticipated contests against longtime Democratic incumbents and establishment darlings.  A favorite of progressives across the country, Texas congressional candidate Jessica Cisneros, an immigration lawyer, came just short of recreating the AOC primary upset of her own when she attempted to unseat nine-term incumbent Henry Cuellar, who represents the Texas 28th district south of San Antonio.

A divided Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that illegal immigrants who use someone else's information when filling out tax forms for employment can face criminal charges, despite federal laws that liberal justices claim should prohibit such cases. The Immigration Control and Reform Act (IRCA) makes it a federal crime to lie on the I-9 work authorization form, while limiting how the false information can be used. Federal law also says information "contained in" the I-9 cannot be used for law enforcement other than specified exceptions -- but the Supreme Court ruled that if workers use the same information in tax documents, they can face charges.

The Democrats’ poster girl for America-hating could swing Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes to President Trump in November. Representative Ilhan Omar now obviously enjoys trolling Republicans, perhaps lulled into complacency by the MSM’s general leftism and Minnesota media’s complicity in suppressing news of her apparent immigration fraud by marrying her brother (Scott Johnson of Powerline deserves a Pulitzer Prize for his role in exposing this major scandal, but won’t get one because the Pulitzer committee reflects the leftist bias of the mainstream journalism community).

Recently, A. Welderson wrote an article on American Thinker arguing that engineers make lousy U.S. presidents. As an engineer, I would like to defend the profession. Welderson's examples, Herbert Hoover and Jimmy Carter, had one trait in common that most engineers do not have. They wanted to be president. First, I should give you some information about engineers. Most of us are conservative. This is confirmed in a poll in an engineering magazine. It is consistent with my observations. In contrast, our managers are often Democrats. The history of socialism in America did not begin with Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Rather, it began in 1825 on the banks of the Wabash River in Indiana. On April 27 of that year, Robert Owen, a Welsh textile manufacturer-turned-philanthropist, welcomed 800 eager arrivals to the settlement he had christened New Harmony. New Harmony was to be a "community of equality" heralding a new way of life. Owen's followers would soon coin a new name for his vision: "utopian socialism."

Mapping what researchers call the "spike protein" is a vital step toward developing vaccines and antiviral drugs. Jason McLellan, an associate professor at UT Austin, spoke with Fox News on Thursday about the virus and said researchers hope to study the 3D map,

President Trump brings razor-sharp instincts to the political picture, and nowhere was it more obvious than in his appearance in Bakersfield, California, signing a bill to clean up the junk-science federal "research" on water for the parched Central Valley and, better still, ordering the feds to give California's Central Valley farmers the water for their farms that they already paid for. According to Politico: "What they're doing to your state is a disgrace," Trump said. The CNN political analyst made the prediction during a Monday panel event at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference. Begala, who was a chief strategist during Clinton’s 1992 campaign, said he thinks Pence will be replaced as vice president on Trump's ticket with Nikki Haley, his former U.N. ambassador. “This is not a prediction. It’s a certainty,” Begala said. “On Thursday, July 16 — that’s the date the Democrat gives her or his acceptance address — on that day, to interrupt that narrative, Donald Trump will call a press conference at Mar-a-Lago."
