In the beginning, the networks offered the evening news as a service and allocated a grand total of 15 minutes for the delivery of the stories of the day. Now news is a round the clock industry-profit center. There's still only 15 minutes of it worth listening to, but you have to stay tuned in all day to hear it. No thanks.

I think the thing that irks me the most about the state of current "news" is that all these anchors who, like the article states, should be giving us NEW stuff get on a story and stay on it until the next piece of feces hits the fan. We often see the same four or five seconds of video hundreds of times before they flit to something else. Also, the definition of news has changed. 90% of the time they are trying to predict what will occur in the future. They can have dozens of prognosticators appear on their air and ask them all the same questions: "What do you make of that?" or "What do you see happening?" How do you spell s-c-r-e-a-m?

Words have meaning so stop calling propagandists, reporters. There is NO news from the MSM airtime. Every word is carefully filtered and constructed to push the agenda. No one is forcing them to do anything. They solemnly read the bits of propaganda like the spin they act out is the truth. Carefully edited visuals and selected interviews reinforce the lead lie. Then they quote each OTHER, like their fellow 'reporters' discovered the facts of the issue. It is all a sick theater. The internet age is not 'insistent.' It is everywhere and all of history. It is a resource, not a taskmaster. Pretending that the MSM agenda has to be the way it is because they have too much time and attention to fill is a flat out lie. First they could admit they only have rumor or incomplete facts when a 'story' breaks. Then they could RESEARCH the subject till they get some verified, actual facts. They don't because that might upset the agenda they are waiting to get from the Deep State. They think you won't notice them pandering and audience polling while they write the propaganda they will start cramming ASAP. If somehow the 'news' readers run out of copy they can always go back the the last lie or get creative and see which past lie about Trump or people who like anything he does, can be tied to the new 'news' cycle. One thing is absolutely clear to all but the most willfully ignorant, and that is the LAST place anyone should ever go for real information about anything, is the mindmouth of the 'news' readers. Unless the subject is extreme vanity, how to name drop to get ahead, how to appear sincere and when to drop your voice and raise your voice. When to agree to a salary and where to put your money when you score for being WAY overpaid for the 'work,' you do.

For someone as loquacious as Barack Obama, the current Democratic primary race must be almost painful to endure. The ex-president has said he would refrain from sticking his nose into likely the largest intramural party competition in recent memory, featuring two dozen candidates at one point. His former vice presidential partner, Joe Biden, was the longtime front-runner who faded and then

So, you probably saw that Pete Buttigieg dropped out of the Democratic primary race over the weekend after another disappointing finish, this time in South Carolina. Conventional wisdom holds that the Hoosier’s departure will most benefit Joe Biden, who isn’t moderate, as hard as he tries to make it seem, as Taylor wrote here Sunday. But he is

It’s a classic political move: Do something you know an opponent doesn’t want to do and challenge him to match you. That’s what Mike Bloomberg did Thursday to Bernie Sanders, the front-runner in the Democratic primary contests. Thirty-six hours before the South Carolina primary Bloomberg is trying to raise renewed concerns about the health of Sanders, who suffered a heart attack in October. The New Yorker’s campaign released detailed blood flow numbers from Bloomberg’s latest physical exam last summer. Both men are 78, older than anyone ever entering or exiting the White House.

It may come as something of a surprise to Barack Obama that he has already endorsed a fellow Democrat for their party’s presidential nomination in Milwaukee come mid-July. In fact, 60 percent of likely Democratic primary voters know that

[Snip] A most frequent target for hypocrisy, naturally, is members of Congress, who as a group routinely earn low job approval ratings from Americans, often in the teens. Now, come to find out, Americans are hypocritical about hypocrisy. Gallup’s just done a new survey. The U.S. military is about to experience another first: Barring injury in the next few weeks, an enlisted soldier is about to become the first female Green Beret in Army history. That comes seven years after the Pentagon lifted its longtime ban on women serving in combat roles. As with all special operators, the military does not release names or identification. But the woman is expected to graduate soon from the rugged, roughly year-long qualification course and become a Special Forces engineer sergeant. Another woman is also making her way through the demanding yearlong course. The length of the course depends on the operator’s specialty

The Producers of ‘The Bachelor’ are looking for active and outgoing single men and women In Their Golden Years for a new exciting dating show! Hopefully, the new dating game isn’t too very exciting or they risk losing some cast members. And there shouldn’t be a lot of stair-climbing in the mansion. The future show also shouldn’t air between 5 and 6 p.m. when local restaurants offer their discounted Blue Plate Specials. And as seniors know now, 9 p.m. is the new midnight. So that’s too late to show it. Yes, they could record it.

Have you noticed somehow once-pedestrian television ratings, those arcane numbers that used to be the subject of churning stomachs only within that industry, have come now to resemble sports franchises, each with its own avid fan base rooting for their favorite, as if it mattered? As a reflection of the bitter partisan splits affecting many Americans, people privately cheer good news for one network and bad news for another. And vice versa. Fox News is kind of like the dominant New England Patriots that win a lot — too much in the eyes of non-New Englanders. Fox News has won a lot of ratings competitions since Rupert Murdoch founded it

Former Bill Clinton strategist Paul Begala thinks President Trump is going to swap running mates in 2020. The CNN political analyst made the prediction during a Monday panel event at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference. Begala, who was a chief strategist during Clinton’s 1992 campaign, said he thinks Pence will be replaced as vice president on Trump's ticket with Nikki Haley, his former U.N. ambassador. “This is not a prediction. It’s a certainty,” Begala said. “On Thursday, July 16 — that’s the date the Democrat gives her or his acceptance address — on that day, to interrupt that narrative, Donald Trump will call a press conference at Mar-a-Lago."

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg explained in an interview with “60 Minutes” why he believes America will choose him over President Donald Trump this fall by characterizing those who swept Trump into office as mounting a “revolution” against the educated elite. “A few years ago there was a revolution against the intelligentsia,” Bloomberg told CBS’ Scott Pelley. “People said, ‘you know, those people, particularly on the coasts, are trying to tell us what to do.’ They wanted a change. That explains Donald Trump. Now, people seem to have changed. This cycle, people want stability.”

You would have thought that the vibe at CPAC this year would involve stressing about our November election prospects, but even as the market dipped over the coronavirus scare the general consensus was that whether we face Vermont Stalin or that miserable monied midget, we got this. Under the wise, steady guidance of our establishment betters, all we did was lose, but Donald Trump gave the cons a taste of winning, and they like it.
