I’m phlegmatic by nature. It gives me an edge up when mass hysteria seems to take up so much space in the news and the pronouncements of Democratic leaders. Looking at the best information available to me, I find it beyond question that the President has taken the right steps to deal with this variant flu; that few people in this country will perish from it; that while there may be some economic consequences of the supply disruption from China, the fact that we’ve been decoupling ourselves from China under this administration means they are likely to be smaller and more short-lived than the market manipulators would have us believe.

A voice in the wilderness speaking the truth. Those of us here have seen the MSM at work. We know what they do. We know what corrupt politicians do. Live wisely and trust God, it will be OK.

What's sickening is watching the Nazicrats politicize this whole mess, absolutely disgusting. Trump could cure cancer and be criticized for it.

Poor lefties. This event happened a bit too soon. November is 8 months from now. By then, corona will be old news and the stock market will have roared back and Trump will be able to trump his prescience in wanting to decouple from China. He'll be able to campaign on building the wall / immigration control as a means of disease control as much as keeping freeloaders from suckling the American teat.
In political terms for Pres. Trump, this is a gift from above.

Right. It's a small part of the article but worth pointing out that people with 'compromised' health are most at risk. This is a respiratory disease... if you are breathing crap, living the the land of the 'Air-pocalypse', you are compromised. If you eat junk from 'wet' markets, you are compromised. If you live in unsanitary circumstances, you are compromised. If you're malnourished, same. It's the reason why the plagues in Europe took such a toll.
So, I'm not worried.
I can think of some squatters camps on the West Coast that are prime targets for worry. We'll see.

Having been in the stock market for over 3 decades now, I realized this is a buying opportunity. I finally bought a few stocks that I had wished I had bought a few years ago, that had dropped quite a bit. This was on Friday morning. By the end of the day the stocks I bought were all higher. I guess I was not the only person who was thinking like that.

So far, excluding China and Iran, where stats are lies, the survival rate for this disease is 99.965% or thereabouts. You have more chance of being run over by an express train than dying of this lab created Chinese bio weapon. What's all the excitement about?

I'd still like to know who allowed the virus to "escape" the bio-weapons lab in Wuhan? I'd also like to know why the Chinese had stolen this virus and other strains from the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg Canada in 2018. The COVID-19 strain was one those strains stolen from the lab. I would also like to know the fate of two NML managers both of whom are of Chinese descent. They were fired from their jobs at NML for allowing Chinese agents to collect unauthorized samples of the virus and take to China. The Canadian media briefly reported the incident but then quickly buried the story.

Thank you, Clarice, a voice of sanity.

Yes, exactly so.

#10, stating as fact that this was a "bio weapons lab" is unproven, IMO. It may, at some point, be proven that bioweapons work was done there, but so far, all we know is that it was a bio-research center. And the people working there were not "non-entities", not cut off and hidden and they DID publish many scientific research papers in the open literature. This all seems very unlikely from a bioweapons research center in a Communist dictatorship.
For example, the Russian nuclear weapons research and building city was code named Arzemis 16, because it was hidden 16 kilometers from the village of Arzemis, in central Russia. It appeared on no maps, had a population of 85,000 people who were permanently locked behind double barbed wire fences, with dogs and sealed military type check points. Traveling there was not possible because there were no trains listed to that destination. Only special government trains could go there. THIS is what Communist dictatorships do with weapons research labs, at least historically.
I don't trust the Chinese at all. But, I also think that like Rush says, we have to live in "Realville" and stick to the facts. At this time, there are no facts that I am aware of which say that this was a bioweapons center.
If you can point to some legitimate source of information that shows otherwise, I would appreciate a link so that I can update my information.
I have discussed this over several emails with a biological research scientist friend of mine, a university professor, and he thinks it was just "some incompetent fool" who used poor procedures in a bioresearch lab and let a virus that they were examining escape. And he had one Chinese post-grad student work for him. The Chinese post-grad (already had earned a PhD) was fired for incompetence after a few months.
Perhaps it is a bioweapons lab, but at this point that "is not a fact in evidence".

My son is a construction superintendent that specializes in hospital remodeling and expansion. I asked him if anyone at Minneapolis Children's Hospital is concerned with the Coronavirus, his reply was ..."No, but if you have a respiratory problem, to be overly cautious."
As the article stated, if you live in a polluted place like China, LA, San Fran or Seattle, or where the homeless population has exploded, the lack of sanitation of the homeless, the filth in an around these homeless encampments, then you have a breeding ground for the Coronavirus. If you are a healthy person, use common sense, wash your hands often, cover your mouth when you sneeze, and just good old cleanliness will save the day.

"How Does it Compare to the Flu?"
I knew that a lot of people died from the flu but really didn't know the numbers are 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the US annually. SInce there doesn't seem to be anything we can do to stop this, beyond the limited actions of vaccination, etc. we have to live with it. The biggest concern, as with all these viruses is that there is no vaccine for it yet so that line of defence is not yet active. Nor is there anything we can immediately do about that. It is likely that by next flu season, a vaccine will be available. We are doing all we can but some people are likely to get sick and some will die. That happens EVERY YEAR. This is just a new variant.
"The Democrats' Fact Free criticisms"
The dems are continuing to babble about everything. Every time they say stupid stuff, it tends to rebound and they come of looking worse than Trump. This is already happening with the easy and recent comparison of BO's slow reaction to H1N1 virus. Also, the first steps that Trump wisely took to limit travel were viciously attacked as racist by dems. Now those limitations seem wise. Every time this cycle happens, dems lose more credibility. When the dems speak, more and more people doubt them right out of the gate.
"to fulfil a weird and growing appetite for doom"
This is because the media, in good times and loss of their power, is desperately trying to reestablish value and power for themselves.
"Economic Affects"
I strongly suspect this is a manipulation of the Globalists who want to make money and who also hate Trump. They make money by dropping investments at their peak, waiting for the bottom, and buying back in. Because they control such massive amounts of money, they can actually CAUSE the effect they they want. Plus, by linking it to a cause like the Coronavirus, they pretend they are doing it for other reasons than sheer greed. The economy facing a hiccup also has the potential to hurt Trump.
The reality is, if the supply chain situation remains relatively stable and the virus doesn't get too bad, things will stabilize pretty quickly and the markets will rebound significantly.
At the end of this, Trump is able to, once again, point out how dems attack and encourage panic, but contribute nothing to a solution and lie about most of their claims. Trump reassures and encourages calm for the good of the American People. Dems encourage undeserved panic and hysteria for their own purposes.

FTA: "Those who have died have been elderly or were already suffering from another illness--as with ordinary flu."
I find it quite laughable how leftist elites all favor evolution and "survival of the fittest," until the specter of death comes for their scrawny little arses. Wanna survive Coronavirus? Stay young and healthy, or go live a Ted Kaczynski life and sing your praises to Darwin.

I can't praise this piece highly enough. Clarice brings in a lot of sources to explain the coronavirus, calm down panic about it, wonder why we seem to need doomsday panics, ease economic fears, and praise President Trump.
