Billions of locusts are swarming across East Africa, eating everything in sight and threatening to cause starvation in a region already affected by extreme hunger.
The United Nations says the region “simply cannot afford another major shock." The locusts have been destroying crops in Kenya after chewing up crops in Somalia and Ethiopia -- arguably two of the most desperate nations for food on earth.
Fox News:
Now the “waves and waves of swarms” are spreading further across the region, said Keith Cressman, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organizations (FAO) senior locust forecasting officer.

I will pick Biblical Plague for $1,000.
My dad told me about how bad the locusts were in his day; the insects not only chewed up the corn and wheat, they chewed even the wooden tool handles ( maybe he exaggerated about the tools, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt). These poor African farmers have suffered more from their politicians than any locust swarm. Zimbabwe comes to mind.

It seems there is a third possibility for the devastation:
E.U./NGOs promoting organic farming which bans pesticides.

Toasted, chocolate covered locusts should be as tasty as chocolate covered grasshoppers and crickets. Locusts are a good source of protein, even without the chocolate!

There's a swarm of locusts plaguing America right now too...They're called Democrats and are just as destructive as the ones in Africa, probably more so.

In the book On The Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder, there is a vivid description of the devastation that locusts caused. Scientists estimate that the swarm contained trillions of locusts and they ate *everything*. The locust species from that book, the Rocky Mountain locust went extinct in the early 20th century and scientists don't know why. There's no pesticides, climate change or Donald Trump to blame.

If the Warmingists had not hogged all of the climate research money for their own failing hypothesis, we might have a real answer. Their stuff does not work but they shove all the resources into their own fat mouths and that is why we do not understand more. Their idea is an effing dead end, and they will not admit it. The locust thing is definitely about climate, but we can't manage it if we do not understand it, and meantime their slogan has been that the truth about climate does not matter so long as their hypothesis motivates good actions. Here we see where that goes. Ignorance doesn 't tell us the right and smart actions. Nobody knows what to do about this. Your fault, a*holes.

The locust swarms have been around for a millennium. But, with the banning of effective pesticides, the problem has worsened. The same is true for malaria. Since DDT was banned, many millions more human beings in Africa have lost their lives. Thanks, lefties.

Ten to one the blame will be placed on global warming when it's really banning of pesticides. Besides, this is just "locustphobia"I wouldn't be surprised if the left decides to place locusts on the endangered species list and put farmers in jail for hurting any of these immigrants.

Eating the locusts seems to be the obvious answer. The people there will still need some carbs.
A special side prize to whomever devises a tiny drone that can be mass-produced quickly for squadrons that can process the swarms by individually zapping, roasting, and collecting into silos.

Maybe Brad Pitt and his entire elite crowd of malcontents could organize a massive vacation to Africa to film the locusts in action. And STAY there forever....
Who runs Africa?
Who’s in charge?
Can we send Barry back to Kenya?
Sharpton too? Mad Maxine?
They’d love it there..criticizing the African leaders and calling for THEIR impeachment!

Huge crop-destroying locust swarms occur every decade in most parts of Africa, and yes, the people do eat them by the millions. For a few weeks the human diet becomes less starchy with a lot more protein.

"Biblical plague or global warming-take your pick."
How about neither? You notice the headline says "in Memory" not 'in History'.
I wonder how old the person they asked about it is. His / Her memory seems to not extend very far. I believe there was a bad swarm in the 1960s, and a much worse one in 1948, if I remember correctly.
But if I ONLY get to choose between Global Warming and Biblical Plague, I'll go with Biblical Plague: Way too much stuff these days seems right out of biblical prophecy, and this locust thing is right out of The Exorcist II (the one with Richard Burton) There is a Plague of Locusts causing big troubles in Africa, at the behest of the Demon Pazuzu.

Surely this locust swarm is Trump's fault. In easier times, it would have been Bush's fault.
