CONCORD, N.H. — The biggest stories from New Hampshire are, in rough order, the Biden-Warren collapse, Sanders’ underwhelming performance, Klobuchar’s surge into third, and Buttigieg’s compelling second place finish.
First, the sad state of the former frontrunners. The history of Massachusetts statewide elected officials in New Hampshire is storied: John Kennedy, Mike Dukakis, Paul Tsongas, John Kerry, Mitt Romney all won New Hampshire (Romney lost in 2008 and won in 2012). And you could not have designed a better electorate for Elizabeth Warren.

If you think the news industry’s credibility problem is bad now, you haven’t seen anything yet.
It is going to get much, much worse the closer we get to Election Day, if Tuesday’s slipshod news reporting and commentary is any indication.
The New York Times’s Maggie Haberman, for example, tweeted the following falsehood at around 5:30 p.m. Monday evening: “Republican voter registration in NH is down roughly 20k voters from 2016 to now. It’s a reminder that Trump’s increased GOP popularity is in part because in some places, the GOP registration rolls have shrunk.”
This is not only false, but it has been debunked several times.

Billions of locusts are swarming across East Africa, eating everything in sight and threatening to cause starvation in a region already affected by extreme hunger.
The United Nations says the region “simply cannot afford another major shock." The locusts have been destroying crops in Kenya after chewing up crops in Somalia and Ethiopia -- arguably two of the most desperate nations for food on earth.
Fox News:
Now the “waves and waves of swarms” are spreading further across the region, said Keith Cressman, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organizations (FAO) senior locust forecasting officer.

What political party does the Democratic Party put you in mind of? Their leader until they settle on a presidential candidate is the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. She is 80 years of age and consults a plastic surgeon as frequently as she consults her hairdresser, according to my sources. Critics remarked on how infrequently during the State of the Union she smiled. Actually, with her skin stretched across her face so tautly, she cannot smile. She can hardly blink. Have a heart, fellows and fellowesses. She would smile and blink more if she could. I am told she has a very good sense of humor.

As we’ve previously discussed here, the violent crime and gang violence situation in Baltimore Maryland hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down since the new year began. Charm City recorded an average of more than one murder per day through the month of January. Admirably, community leaders and the local churches once again teamed up last week to attempt another “ceasefire weekend,” imploring the gangs to stay inside and stop the bloodshed for just 72 hours. Unfortunately, it appears that the gangs aren’t in the mood to listen this time around. From Friday through Sunday, fifteen people were shot with three of them not surviving their injuries. Who is to blame for an electorate that values youth over experience, that has elevated Pete Buttigieg and Barack Obama over Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton?
The culprit is, in a significant way, Mr. Biden himself.
I realized this during the New Hampshire Democratic primary debate hosted Friday by ABC News. Asked about possible Supreme Court choices, Mr. Biden bragged, “I almost single-handedly made sure that Robert Bork did not get on the Court.”
When President Reagan nominated Bork in 1987, Bork was 60 years old. Bork had been a professor at Yale Law School and had served as solicitor general of the United States

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The most basic rule of bear hunting is: “If you are going to shoot a bear, don’t miss.” Or, as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, “When you strike at a king, you must kill him.”
Well, Democrats threw every single thing they could think up at President Trump. And missed.
They failed to kill him. Or even bruise or scuff him. They failed to so much as tussle his hair. Today, he is stronger than he has ever been — stronger than the day he got elected, stronger than the day he took office.
After all, on both of those days, he and his campaign

Every presidential primary campaign is full of photo ops where candidates wander aimlessly into cafes and harass people trying to eat lunch or dinner. It's inexplicable why anyone does this, and yet every four years, there they go again. This time it's Elizabeth Warren insisting on talking to strangers who would rather continue chewing in peace. The body language these people are giving off is ice cold and yet Warren doesn't seem to notice, nor do all the cameramen angling for a great shot of Warren being a regular person doing a thing no regular person would ever do.

Two of the key witnesses in the Trump impeachment have been removed from their positions. Gordon Sondland is out as Ambassador to the European Union. Lt. Col Alexander Vindman has been reassigned from the National Security Council to the Pentagon.
Democrats are crying foul, of course. But was it improper for Trump to take these personnel actions?
Sondland’s case seems easy to me. Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President. Trump lost confidence in Sondland. Thus, his removal made sense.
Vindman’s case is somewhat different and less easy for me. Unlike Sondland, he’s a career government employee and military man.

Joe Biden could finish as low as fifth place in tonight’s New Hampshire primary results. Certainly, if we can trust the most recent poll, the former vice president will do no better than third, behind Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Even a third-place finish in New Hampshire for Biden would be an improvement over his dismal showing in the Iowa caucus, in which he placed fourth behind Sanders, Buttigieg, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. But as badly as Warren’s campaign has floundered, it’s unlikely Biden could beat her in her own backyard. What most troubles the dreams of establishment Democrats

Joe Biden’s hard-hitting new ad targeting Pete Buttigieg is drawing a lot of attention, in part because a number of commentators–Ann Althouse is one–detect a tinge of homophobia. See if you can spot it:(Snip for video)To me, the ad is an appropriate attack on Buttigieg’s obvious lack of experience. I would criticize it for grossly exaggerating Biden’s own importance; throughout his political career, he has been a mediocrity at best.
The alleged homophobia consists of the ad’s repeated use of the word “decorative” (also “colorfully”) in describing Buttigieg’s achievements as Mayor of South Bend. It got by me, but maybe there are dogs out there who will hear a whistle.

There are new major developments in the case against three-star General Michael Flynn. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington has proposed delaying "a number of approaching deadlines," Fox News reports, "that would ultimately make his sentencing unlikely" on February 27, as was the original plan.
The prosecutors conducting the witch hunt against one of America's most heroic and important generals of the last few decades want Gen. Flynn's former attorneys to testify against him. They argue that the general waived his attorney-client privileges in his communications with Covington & Burling by arguing that he received ineffective assistance from them.
