The Democrats’ Notorious

Impeachment has backfired far beyond the worst nightmares Democrats could have imagined. In its aftermath, President Donald Trump’s approval rating is actually now at its highest ever. For them, it is the fourth quarter and the clock is getting close to zero, with Election Day nine months off. Joe Biden is fading, the party asking to take over health care can’t count votes in a modest-sized state, and its leader in Congress is so unglued she rips up Trump’s State of the Union speech. Nice try, Ed Board. I guess this could happen if the democrats figure out a way to get anyone elected for any office (outside of California or New York). Other than that, it's a cute little exercise.

So the Democrats love RBG so much they want her to quit. They'd hope to stir up enough outrage at her conservative replacement to oust Trump, a maneuver the board here describes as a desperate "Hail Mary." Other phrases that comes to mind are, the Democrats are asking Justice Ginsburg to "fall on her own sword," something she has explicitly refused to do, or "take one for the team," though I don't think she regards herself as part of a Supreme Court "team." The Board credits no Democrat with this idea, but it's so dumb ("you're our favorite Justice, so quit") they might jump on it.

For some reason I suspect the Dems have exhausted their frontal assault strategy. What cred the Dems may have had with the general public is dissipated. Better to let Mitt, the "moderate" GOPe has-beens, and the UNIPARTY to take turns doing some heavy lifting.

Methinks there is a bit of overthinking going on here. RBG may leave the Court, feet first. And if her logical replacement is amy Conan Barrett, there will be blacks who will be offended by her adoption of Haitian children who are black. the National Association of Black Social Workers, in 1973, took the official position that whites should not be allowed to adopt black children, because the whites will not know how to rear the black children. The Adoption Act of 1996 forbids racial tests in adoptions, but the NABSW still adheres to the 1973 policy. we should all take a deep breath.

I'm sticking with the more simple theory: The dems will claim that any POTUS who was ever "impeached" should never be allowed to appoint a supreme court justice. Remember "Impeached for life?"

Ruthie ain't going anywhere. Interesting premise but I don't see a Hail Ruthie Pass as the desperate dems last electoral gasp. For one thing, I think Ruthie adores all the attention she garners from being "Notorious RBG" on the Supreme Court.

We already know that Democrats will stoop to anything to stop conservative Supreme Court nominees. #5 makes a good point but there is no such rule in place and the current Senate will not impose one. Thankfully the House has no say. Ginsburg is in it until she dies. And she doesn't care more about Washington politics than she does for herself. She will not be making the sacrifice.

RBG will never go for the gamble - she loves the job too much. But more importantly, trying this stunt would also energize the Republican base in anticipation of our finally having a Supreme Court free of the need for Chief Justice Roberts.

Whose to say that Justice Ginsburg would go along with any such Democrat proposals that she should announce that she will be quitting the court? Remember the Democrats wanted her to quit during the Second Obama term so that Obama could replace her with a partisan liberal, but she did not do that. Some say that Ginsburg thought Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 election and that Ginsburg wanted to wait and give Clinton the chance to replace her with a feminist. Ginsburg will first wait to see who the Democrat nominee will be, and only then will make a decision on her future on the court. Of course that is if the man upstairs does not ring her bell before that time.

Right now - - Ruth Buzzi G. sits propped up stiffly on her chair - - with a barely detectable heartbeat - - while her clerks do all the work. What difference would it make if that heartbeat ceased completely? Why - - none at all. So Ruth Buzzi G. will continue to "sit" on the court - - ad infinitum.

In his State of the Union address five years ago, President Barack Obama talked at length about what he called “middle-class economics.” After years of economic stagnation, he promised that the only thing needed to revive the economy was more middle-class benefits. The middle class has made substantial gains since then, but only because President Donald Trump ignored everything Obama said. In Obama’s address, he described “middle-class economics” as “helping folks afford childcare, college, health care, a home, retirement.” In other words, still more federal middle-class entitlements and new mandates on employers (higher minimum wage, paid family leave, etc.).

If you’re a Democrat, is there anything more horrifying than hearing Barack Obama’s campaign manager for his 2012 successful reelection warn that “the nominee (of the Democratic Party for 2020) will be broke, as Romney was against us”? That is exactly what Jim Messina told the Washington Post this week – even as the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump raged. Speaking of how much money Trump has been raising and utilizing, Messina added, “I have never seen spending like it. And it’s a lot on rallies, which are expensive and speak to the base.”

An unwelcome ghost haunts the U.S. Senate this week as it takes up the dubious charges against President Donald Trump: the disembodied spirit of a slain president who six decades ago spoke from a desk near the back of the Senate chamber. Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kennedy in 1957 won the Pulitzer Prize for biography for his portrait of eight of his predecessors in the World’s Greatest Deliberative Body, “Profiles In Courage” (even though speechwriter Ted Sorenson ghostwrote almost all of it), and the notoriety helped propel him to the highest office in the land several years later. The left had another apoplectic fit when President Donald Trump started talking about dishwashers at his Milwaukee rally this week. How dare he focus on something so trivial when House Democrats are busy trying to remove him from office. In the immediate aftermath of Iranian missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq – apparently designed to save face rather than kill Americans – is it an overstatement to apply Orwell’s ultra-totalitarian slogans to the left in the free country of the United States of America today? “War is peace,” The Party in “1984” assured its servile proles, “freedom is slavery,” and “ignorance is strength.” After all, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi assured us that the people’s elected representatives could cast their votes for Obamacare while being entirely ignorant of the contents of the law. And Tuesday’s Republican turnout, currently around 120,000, far exceeds that of any other incumbent president seeking reelection. Although this is certainly good news, Republicans shouldn’t get too cocky because the Democrats had a very good night as well. The most updated figures (97%) show that 283,440 Democratic votes had been cast. Based on that number, 100% would bring it to approximately 292,200, which is significantly higher than Democratic turnout in 2016
