The most important thing that happened during President Trump’s post-impeachment rant at the White House didn’t happen at the lectern.
Yes, as usual, he called me a sleaze and scum and a dirty cop and said he likely would no longer be president if he hadn’t fired me. Although I still can’t follow the logic of that last bit, it doesn’t matter.
The important thing was what happened in the audience, where there were plenty of intelligent people of deep commitment to religious principle. They laughed and smiled and clapped as a president of the United States lied, bullied, cursed and belittled the faith of other leaders. That was the deeply disturbing

The White House is reportedly weighing options to dismiss Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman from the National Security Council (NSC) in an effort to shrink its foreign policy bureaucracy, a report said.Bloomberg reported that the White House plans to frame it as part of an NSC staff downsizing, not a retaliation. Vindman gave testimony last year during President Donald Trump's impeachment proceedings.Vindman was an important witness for the Democrats in July and raised concerns over Trump's phone call with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Before you crucify me for not condemning “the traitor,” please hear me out. My position has nothing to do with whether I agree with Romney’s “guilty” vote on the first article of impeachment. And it has nothing to do with whether I believe he is a true conservative. Or even a loyal Republican for that matter. It has to do with something far deeper. Are you willing to hear me out?
I’m quite aware of the litany of charges against Mitt Romney’s past political record and business dealings (see here and here and here and here).

CHICAGO -- The brutal beating of a 68-year-old man by 11 teens on a passenger train here Monday was captured in a disturbing, graphic video obtained by Fox News.
The Chicago Police Department told Fox News the beating is under investigation, but no one is in custody because the victim “was unable to identify his attacker(s) due to his injuries.” A police source told Fox that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office “wouldn’t touch” the case if the victim can’t identify those accused or is unable to cooperate. When reached about prosecuting the case, state’s attorney's office responded: "We are unable to comment."

2020 presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders said Friday that “we have a racist society from top to bottom.” The Vermont senator spoke Friday evening at ABC’s Democratic debate in New Hampshire, where he discussed racism in the United States as former Vice President Joe Biden and billionaire Tom Steyer argued over who has more support from black voters. “We have a racist society from top to bottom,” Sanders said, adding that this “racist society” is “impacting health care, housing, criminal justice, education — you name it.”

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who made waves as a witness during the Trump impeachment proceedings, was fired Friday by the National Security Council and escorted off of the White House grounds, Fox News has confirmed.
Vindman was on detail to the National Security Council from the Department of Defense, and it is expected he will return there. It comes just two days after President Trump was acquitted in the Senate on the impeachment charges brought by the House last year over his dealings with Ukraine. In a lengthy statement, Vindman’s attorney, David Pressman, confirmed that Vindman had been escorted out of the White House on Friday.

Lt. Col Alexander Vindman, a key witness in the House Democrats’ partisan impeachment inquiry, was fired from the National Security Council and escorted out of the White House on Friday, CNN first reported.
Vindman’s attorney, David Pressman, confirmed his client’s termination and subsequent removal from the White House.
“Today, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman was escorted out of the White House where he has dutifully served his country and his President. He does so having spoken publicly once, and only pursuant to a subpoena from the United States Congress,” Pressman said in a statement.

A majority of New Hampshire Democrats said in a new poll that they would rather a "giant meteor strikes the Earth, extinguishing all human life" than see President Trump reelected. The University of Massachusetts Lowell survey of 400 Democratic voters asked which candidates they would support in the state's primary Tuesday, with former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) tying for first place at 23 percent support. But voters were also asked in the online survey conducted by YouGov: "Which of the following outcomes would you prefer occur on November 3, 2020? Donald Trump wins re-election or

Hoping to fan racial flames in his direction before the South Carolina primary, Pete Buttigieg tweeted out his support for Trayvon Martin on the occasion of what would have been Martin’s 25th birthday, February 5.
“Trayvon Martin would have been 25 today,” Mayor Pete tweeted. “How many 25th birthdays have been stolen from us by white supremacy, gun violence, prejudice, and fear?” Buttigieg threw in a Black Lives Matter hashtag just to make sure black voters knew he was down for the struggle.
This tweet would have been unfortunate six months ago. Today, it is unforgivable. In December, attorney Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch,

Rep. Ayanna Pressley said she intends to "bring the fire" if Americans don't adopt her political ideology during a conversation with NPR's Democracy Now as part of the nonprofit organization Rising Majority's conversation with "the Squad."
"As I said when we were at the border, we're going to keep telling and elevating these stories with the hopes that you will see the light," said Pressley. "And if you don't see the light, then we will bring the fire. That's just how it progresses."
Pressley made the comments in a panel discussion at Howard University in Washington with Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib, all Democrats.

Morning Joe regular Donny Deutsch claimed on Friday that Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren’s decline in popularity over the past couple of months is due to her being strident and unlikable—all while making sure everyone knew he wasn’t peddling a sexist trope. Following her third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and polls currently showing her lagging ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough asked Vice correspondent Shawna Thomas what may be behind Warren’s “precipitous decline over the past two months.” “You know, just two months ago we were talking about what a stellar campaign she had

Immigration experts and House Republicans are balking at the New Way Forward Act, a Democratic bill that is being described as an embrace of “open borders” and likely to be the most “radical” legislation ever introduced in history.
Democratic Illinois Rep. Jesús García, along with several other progressive House members, introduced the New Way Forward Act in December 2019, to seemingly little fanfare. The bill, among many things, calls for the decriminalization of illegal immigration, would make it more difficult to deport convicted criminal aliens, empower immigration judges to nullify deportation orders, and also calls for the return of previously deported illegal aliens.
