Members of the Shabazz High School junior varsity boys basketball team repeatedly punched and kicked their coach in a violent attack in Newark following a game Tuesday night, officials confirmed to NJ Advance Media. A video of the incident, obtained by NJ Advance Media, shows at least four players knocking the coach to the ground while punching and kicking him repeatedly outside the school. The attack lasts about 25 seconds. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka told NJ Advance Media he visited Shabazz Thursday morning to address the situation with district Superintendent Roger León and administrators, coaches and players from the school.

Let me rewrite that first sentence for you, Mr Reporter: "Members of the MALCOLM X Shabazz High School junior varsity boys basketball team repeatedly punched and kicked their coach in a violent attack in Newark following a game Tuesday night. . ." There, fixed it!

Suspended? Why not arrested?

Was the coach black? Somehow the story didn't mention that. If the coach is white will they be charged with a hate crime? Just asking.

This is so terrible. Some years ago, in a nearby school, several students punched the football coach as he was trying to break up a student fight. The progressive school vice-principal made the two boys write a letter of apology to the coach, that was their only punishment. Unsurprisingly, after graduating from high school, both boys ended up in jail. Meanwhile, the Democrat Party (and the NAACP!) continue to side with their major donors, the teachers' unions, in opposing charter schools and school choice of any kind. Shameful.

FWIW, today's games (V and JV) vs East Orange have been cancelled.
Also FWIW, the varsity team record stands at 0-14.

FTA: “The actions of these students will not be tolerated. It does not represent the majority of the school. The school and team have great kids. Many of them go on to college and on to do great things.”
Uh-huh - sure they do.

This school is in the worst section of the city. Armed police officers are posted at football games to protect all spectators. Fortunately it's close to a major highway so visitors can get in and out quickly.

'What goes around, comes around.' ....Some youths are not being taught to respect others. They probably never heard the Golden Rule and so will probably join the dem party and end up having a hard time & an unhappy life in this world. There is a pattern demonstrated by this attack. mmm mmm mmm

The players were "immediately suspended". Why weren't they immediately arrested?

Kicking and Punching While Black KPWB should be the new normal in New Jersey! Glad they have their own school to terrorize! Suspend and arrest. Let them get some KPWB in a hard core prison and they will find out that they will be the victim of another step of violation... And they deserve every minute of it! No sympathy for people like this ever!

Suspended? I will eject them from school and cancel the basketball program for years to come.

The school has a website. Don't these 'Journalists' know not all of us are brain-dead and can easily get past their passive censorship of leaving out relevant details?

The full name of this institute of lower learning, which ranks consistently among the worst statewide, is the Malcolm X. Shabazz school. We're told that black kids need black teachers and administrators in order to reach their maximum potential, and here's how that plays out in this nearly 100% black school.
