During MSNBC’s impeachment coverage on Friday, host Lawrence O’Donnell stated that “American democracy once again revealed its most serious structural flaw: the United States Senate.” And called on Democrats to focus more on winning the Senate.
O’Donnell began by saying, “When you’re watching the United States Senate on days like today. It’s always important to remember that you are not watching democracy in action. The Senate is now, always has been, and always will be, an anti-democratic institution. Because the Senate does not represent people. The House of Representatives represents people. That’s why it’s called the people’s House. The U.S. Senate represents land.

Truly frightening things coming from the left these days. Terrifying. These people have lost grip on reality in their desperate attempt to not lose grip on power.

Come on, Larry, you should know by now the real problem was the Electoral College. Without it, Criminal Clinton would now be president. --Vets for Trump 2020
(Oops. I just noticed post #1. But I can see from this morning's the Latest Posts that the loony-tune Dems won't be keeping quiet about impeachment any time, soon),

If it wasn’t for the Constitution, electoral college, laws and courts, this place would be awesome.

The intent of the Senate was never direct representation of the people. The Senate was intended to be selected by the state legislature to represent the interests of the state, and by extension, the people of each state. Allowing the people to elect the Senate directly set it on its path to irrelevancy. But she’s an idiot regardless.

The Senate was created by the Founders to represent the states. It did, until Progressives got it changed so that the Senate would be elected by the people. If Larry O'Donnell doesn't understand or like that, he should blame his partners in Progressivism.

The Senate is not a flaw....the fact that Communists keep referring to our Republic AS a democracy is.

The Founding Fathers never promised us a Democracy. "A Republic, if you can keep it" according to Ben Franklin.

Obviously, if we need to get rid of the Electoral College we also need to get rid of the Senate. In fact, the Supreme Court is not elected by the people so maybe that should go, too. Let everything be determined by the people. What could go wrong?
To quote someone the Left seems to love ('cus he's a rapper?):
“It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.”

How about the "resistance" just goes and takes over an already-socialist third world country, so they can run it further into the ground? If this one is so hopelessly flawed and its people so terrible--why stay? Why didn't Bernie stay in Russia? Why didn't Talib stay in Palestine? Omar in Somali? Look at their bank accounts for the answer. He/she who runs the "redistribution" keeps the change. And it won't be small.

Only because your side lost. If the senate had voted to allow more witnesses you would’ve been singing their praises.

It's NOT a bug. It's a feature. Our government was carefully crafted to stymie exactly the kind of power play the dems are making. It is also very clear that if the dems were winning, they would be perfectly happy with the structure of the Republic. Dem ethics are situational and therefore no ethics at all.
"The U.S. Senate represents land."
No, it represents states, as in the United STATES of America. If we were following the Constitution, the States should have far more power since the powers of the federal government are enumerated and all other power devolves to the States or the People. The states existed BEFORE the Republic and the structure of the Senate, Electoral College, and other things were DESIGNED to protect the states and prevent tyranny of the majority and are obviously working perfectly. It is blocking tyrants. It is a delight to see liberals squealing about this. It is exciting to see the wisdom of the founders on such brilliant display.

Yet another failed point by Meltdown O'Donnell. The worst structural flaw in our nation right now is your party and the media. That is a fact, and don't bother denying it O'Donnell.

Malignant stupidity on display. Having the mainstream media serve as the public relations department for one of the parties is a serious structural flaw. When the commentator hasn't a clue about the subject matter, his boss needs to make sure not to give him the job of on-air analyst.

Wrong. It's the federal judiciary. The Senate can't do nearly as much damage, although they do confirm the judges. So if the Senate was gone, no more new judges? I can get behind that.
