Texas House District 28's special election offered a first test of the theory that red Texas may be trending blue in the age of Trump. The suburban district west of Houston offered Democrats an opportunity to grab a seat and the narrative just days before the 2020 Iowa caucuses.
HD28 is a red district in a county, Fort Bend, that has been trending blue. Hillary Clinton won it over Donald Trump 51-44 in 2016. Republican incumbent John Zerwas won HD28 +9 in 2018. His decision not to seek another term left it open and the Democrats pulled no punches to try to take it.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren endorsed the Democrat.
This should help quell the giggles of that hopelessly idiotic Don Lemon.

Mr. Gates was walking through my neighborhood talking to people including me. He is a likable man and was easy for me to support. On the other hand his opponent was rather unattractive and not just in appearance. I saw one of her ads that said she would "fight for families". What does that mean? Does that mean that she will make them smaller by voting for late-term abortions? This seems one of those campaign promises that sounds good but has no substance or that is means something they do not want to explain in detail. I am very glad the conservative voters showed up!

The margin of victory in this special election was large--
This just goes to show that all the "star power" the demonrats threw into this with GREAT media coverage CAN NOT take the place of informed voters who show up to vote.
Turnout is EVERYTHING.
Republicans take notice-- bad things happen when you are too lazy to show up to vote!!

This is exactly why I think Trump is going to win in a Landslide. I think Republicans woke up! I think those Republicans who ALLOWED the Democrats to win back the House see what a HUGE mistake they made is either staying home or voting once again for a Democrat (after they had voted for Trump in 2016). What the House Democrats have done with that Majority is Criminal! They have thrown this country into the biggest disaster in our Country's history. I hope Republicans watching this Impeachment Sham are awake and realize the mistake they made. Vote REPUBLICAN in 2020 if you want to save this country from the same mess we're now in!! We can not let Democrats hold the house!

Fort Bend County is southwest of Houston and is one of the largest counties in the state.

I wan't aware of this special election so went back and read some Lamestream media articles from last week. They all breathlessly reported the district was trending 'blue' and the Democrat had lots of endorsements and a huge pile of money. It could be the first sign of Trump's imminent demise. LOL.

This will all change once Lev Parnas testifies.
You all remember Lev - - don't you? You know - - the leftist flavor-of-the-week last week - - the guy who's going to destroy President Trump? Lev? Lev? Step up, Lev! Hey, LEV!!!

Here's hoping that Mr. Trump experiences a similar blowout all across this fair land of ours!

Voted for Gates last week. VERY glad to hear he won! But that's a *whew*! glad...not a Texas proud "of COURSE we won". Who'd a thunk my little home county, where the Reconstruction battle called Jaybird-Woodpecker War took place (Southern Democrats fighting with Southern Democrats over whether or not they were going to let blacks into local politics), and had the same mayor since the 1940s (he was voted in when he was 18, right before he was sent off to duty in WWII until he passed away in 2012), has come so far in the national politics. Used to be nothing but rice and cotton and sorgham fields in most of the county. Now its political fighting ground.
Dont know if I should stay or move to some place quieter.

I am hoping that the prevailing trend holds. The democrats totally ignore reality and public feelings on their party and all the corruption and hypocrisy, and then they find to their shock that Trump wins another landslide this year. The problem with ignoring history is that you are forever doomed to repeat it. Been true for democrats since at least the 1960's. As to CNN...
I am betting that CNN was absolutely thrilled to have the Trump Netanyahu treaty to talk about wall to wall. It allowed them to avoid any more coverage of the senate trial and listening to more of their party's destruction.

I early-voted last week, and as I was walking into the polling place I saw Mr Gates standing there at the edge of the parking lot. We shook hands, shared a few words and I wished him well. First time I've ever met an actual candidate - cool.

This was an interesting race. The Republicans were in doubt wile I was there. Gates hit the streets hard, and got people revved, aware of the consequences. His opponent was a SJW-type, running to stop the hate and all that. I think she could have been hit much harder on that aspect. Who wins elections calling her neighbors haters?
Nonetheless, this electoral struggle is far from over down there. Fort Bend County is not a caucasian bastion. Winning there will take some new energy with language and tactics that the good ol' boys just don't have. The six-shooters and ten gallon hat schticks don't have much appeal to Asian, Middle Eastern and African immigrant citizens.

There was a lot of breathless national media coverage hoping and anticipating this district would be a harbinger of the Dems taking Texas in 2020.
