The next step in the impeachment of the president needs to be considered in both its legal and political aspects.
The legal issue is easily determined, is evident from the first few days of proceedings, and remains a foregone conclusion. It was obvious from the endlessly repetitive and absurdly overstated arguments of the House managers, Representatives Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) in particular, that they had no legal case. There was no evidence that the president committed a high crime or misdemeanor as the Constitution requires for a president to be removed from office in such a proceeding. (Snip)Legally, there is no case

John Bolton has really dirtied himself up. A DIY job that has some likening him to Julie Swetnick of Kavanaugh trial infamy.
It now emerges that Bolton may allege that Trump did connect aid to an investigation of Biden, and Bolton, a struggling author whom Trump fired as national security adviser—may aspire to be a more willing Christine Blasey Ford, (the last-ditch blocking witness in the Kavanaugh hearings). This may create a stronger public relations argument for witnesses. This reeks of a style similar to the “Access Hollywood” tape (revealing Trump’s macho indiscretions of 11 years prior, though recorded without his knowledge by Billy Bush, and released just weeks before the 2016 election), and of the tortuous but unpersuasive Christine Blasey Ford appearance in the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. The Democrats are pulling out what is at the very bottom of their bag of tricks, yet again.

In a real criminal proceedings, there'd have been granted a motion to dismiss given even a marginally competent judge.

Lets see.. An unconstitutional impeachment (the full House didn't vote), no crimes alleged, witnesses who were not fact witnesses to things that were not crimes, documented lies by the House managers, opposing presidential candidates sitting as judges in the trial, just to name a few problems with this sham.

Thank you , poster. Can we all make two things go viral? First, this article. Second, the CNN clip with the insipid jerk Don Lemon talking with the incompetent doofus Rick Wilson,
C'mon, Mitch, shut this down. You are playing into their hands by letting this farce continue. Keep the circus going, with one "bombshell" after another. When will the new version of Michael Avenatti show up?
Stop trying the political calculation, Mitch. I get it. Cory Gardner and Susan Collins have tough races. Are the Republican bases in Colorado and Maine going to be happy because they suck up to Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler. Don't forget your own base. Those elections will be tough no matter what, stop trying to be cute and giving this farce the credibility it doesn't deserve.
Meanwhile, everybody, circulate this article and the CNN film clip!

No crimes committed.
Even if what is alleged was a crime, there is no evidence that it happened outside Shiffty's and Nadless' fevered imaginings.
And even if they did have evidence of a kinda crime, the level of such a crime does NOT approach "high crimes and misdemeanors". They would be impeaching Trump over a parking ticket.
The dems have NOTHING and the President's defense team is highlighting that vacuum.
On top of that, the dems broke their own process. Without a vote of the whole House, there was no real authority for the House to investigate. They had no legal power to subpoena, yet they blatantly lied and say that Trump ignored subpoenas. They were NOT subpoenas and they were not ignored. They were answered by TELLING the hapless dems that they did NOT have the power of subpoena because they did not vote. The trail of evidence and the dems idiocy is clear.
This IS a farce and there is nothing to gain by prolonging it.

If the established legal standard (i.e., "high crimes or misdemeanors") requires an actual criminal charge, as posited by Dershowitz (a position with which I completely agree), and the evidence presented by the prosecution (i.e., the House managers) shows no factual or legal proof of a criminal charge, then the next logical step in a legal proceeding would be for the defense to argue no issue of material fact (i.e., facts that would alter the outcome) exists for the court (i.e., the Senate) to decide and, therefore, the President is entitled to judgment in his favor as a matter of law (i.e., summary judgment). This is the argument the President's team must make today.

The headline says it very well, but I'd make a small editorial adjustment.
"Shut Down This Tiresome Farce".
Bolton has made a spot on my lifetime "you are a rat" list.

Noonan was supporting calling witnesses because that is what Schiff and co want, to edge closer to election and get rid of pesky Pre Trump. Mr Black is wrong in his analysis of why Noonan does things, and might want to stop with the personal deference to her. She is up for the witness gambit because it is a gambit to further the aims of the progressives. Like Pelosi, Noonan thinks going to or towards the Left will return her to her youthfulness. People will still ask her to parties? Really stupid.

Bolton's book gets leaked to the NY Times to give the Democrats a 'lifeline' when they have no case. Turns out they still have no case. Doesn't matter. The Democrats and the media will create their own narrative, and censor anything said by the Republicans.
This isn't a hearing.
The 'hearing' is total complete BS.
Its an idiotic clown show.
Its a farce.
This is not governing. Its not leadership.
It is tyranny.
Mitch McConnell is in charge. Mitch, what are you doing?!? You said you would shut the hearing down if the Democrats started playing games. Well Mitch, they are. Are you going to follow through on your word or doesn't it mean anything?
This is not an impeachment. Its a coup. It cannot succeed without Republican assistance. Well, Mitch?!? The ball is in your court. What side are the Republicans on? Are they a real alternative to the Democrats or are they merely an extension of the Democratic party?
The nation is watching.

It's all they have and they know they don't have a single candidate to beat him in November.
