Democrats are pushing back at GOP backlash over a controversial line in House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-Calif.) closing statement in Friday night's impeachment trial arguments.
Schiff sparked an audible reaction from Republicans when he referenced a CBS News report that cited an anonymous Trump confidant saying GOP senators' heads would be “on a pike” if they opposed President Trump on impeachment.
Republicans — including Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine) — quickly distanced themselves, with Collins overheard repeatedly saying "that’s not true" and Murkowski saying Schiff "overreached."

For years the "pinocchio" awards have been given for seriously bad lies. We now can replace that with the "Schiff" awards for lies beyond belief.

That remark was only the proverbial straw because it was taken as personal by the senators. Schiff has been in complete fabrication mode for three years.

Senator Collins will find her head on the pike of either her Democrat or Republican constituents whichever way she votes on any of this. I keep calling her office and writing her office to remind her that Democrats are NEVER going to vote for her anyway. She needs to curry favor with Republicans who are finally recognizing that the 30% of the time she votes with Republicans and for Republican "principles" (i.e., for Justice Kavanaugh)) is far better than the 0% of the time that any Democrat would vote for anything from the Republicans. She needs warm up to middle of the road Independents ("Unenrolled" in Maine) and with conservative Catholic Democrats. She needs to forget about the newspapers and TV broadcast companies in Maine. They are totally under control, and openly, by the Maine Democratic Party. The worst Republican will always be far better than the best Democrat.... Tester is the BEST example of the "Best Democrat" and we can see which side he's on!

If you think you're going to win over the genteel ladies of the Senate by threatening and trying to intimidate them, you really do have schiff for brains.

Realize Schiff just makes up whatever he wants to say and attributes it to nameless sources.

The Dem Party has transformed and is now controlled by the Marxist Socialist wing of the Party. RINO's like Collins etc. had better learn that they can no longer try to curry favor on both sides of the aisle. The new Leftist Orthodoxy will not permit it, neither will the voters.

So the democrats got caught out with Schiffty's lies exposed in a simple two hour rebuttal and now they cry foul? If the four suspect senators on our side vote for this railroading, even after being shown how democrats treat them like fools, then democrats are right. Those four senators are indeed fools. Gonna be interesting to see if Schiff appears tomorrow for the second round of the Trump response. His lies have caught up with him, and it is most satisfying to see the spanking he is getting from the Trump team.
I wish I could upvote comment #1 at least 50 more times. That is a great one. Everyone is now going to know even decades from now, how Schiff is/was and he is indeed a better liar than the little wooden guy ever was. I do not buy the anonymous sources and their head on a pike threat. I suspect that is pure democrat all the way. Democrats have been the source of violence in this country for a very long time, and some of the worst lies imaginable as well.

For the life of me, I cannot understand a strategy that includes insulting and alienating people you need to vote in your direction. Don’t misunderstand me, I love that the dems do it, but I just don’t get it.

So Schiff used an unvarified Kneepad media anonymous source to insult Rebublicans and Dems, knowing the Kneepad Media has their backs, pile on.

Faux outrage? The Democrats appear to agree that Schiff has slung so much Schtt in his presentations that this statement was drop in the bucket.

The democrats on the floor of the Senate reminded me of the Wellstone memorial, keep talking democrats. President Trump and his team have a huge lasso just waiting for you. It will be pulled soon, can't wait.

All the wailing, whining, hand wringing, lying and political spin in the world will not change the fact that Trump did not abuse his power. He used it in ways that the liberals didn’t like. And Congress has now decided that using constitutional executive powers has become an impeachable offense. This is false. The witness argument is irrelevant. Let Mulvaney or Bolton testify. Bolton is butt hurt because he got fired and Mulvaney is a lot smarter than Schiff and Nadler combined.

Unlike the case against President Trump in which we have ZERO evidence that the president did anything wrong beyond Schiffty's fevered imaginings, Schiffty actually said these loathsome statements. He is a vicious little weasel and his statements about the president are lies.

He skated on his rendition of the phone call, didn't he? What makes him think he can't just do stuff like that whenever he likes? The press is in his pocket.
